So friendly! You can't help but spend a moment gabbing with the lovely woman who works here while running your hands over some beautiful mid-century pieces.
Even if retro isn't your interest, the art covered walls might be reason enough to browse. Local artists like Robert Chaplin and photographers adorn the walls portraying iconic Vancouver scenes that will cause smiles from any true Vancouverite.
Each piece comes with a little story (flip the story over to find the price tag). I had my eye on a Canadian Maple table that was owned by one family from the 1960s onwards. Perhaps I'm in the minority, but it's the story that tugs at my heart and makes me wanna hand over my purse! FYI, the table wasn't too badly priced either at $500. I've seen steeper items, that haven't stood the test of time, running rampant at chain stores. -

The best selection of vintage mid century modern in Vancouver. Friendly proprietors. Not the cheapest prices but still low and fair.

Metropolitan Home sells vintage mid-century modern furniture, interesting objects and features art created by local Vancouver artists.
The store has been operating since 1984 so you might say we've been around the city for a long period of time. We love to promote Canadian modernism as well as Scandinavian and American modern furnishings. Inside the store you'll also find items from the Deco period as well as antiques. Mix up your styles for an eclectic look!
We do have a request book and will look for what the customer wants and has been searching for.
