This used be my go to store before Longos opened up. As pointed out by other reviewers this is one of the better Metro's in TO. Lots of variety and clean isles to browse through in the wee hours of the night. Parking is validated with a 10$ purchase which is good as you can get other things done around this area and still come out OK.
Downside is staff is harder to find at night and even sometimes during the day. It does get slammed right after work so need to keep that in mind while shopping here.
I like their bread and meat section as it has good options.
Unfortunately my trips here have been greatly reduced as I mainly come here whenever they a deal on some item.

Went to the self-check out lane at the Metro in Liberty Village at 11pm. There is a person who stays on as an inspector of sorts to guide you through and help you with your inevitable mistakes (or attempts to get free stuff).  It's one person to about 4 self-checkout stations.  We had a lot of items, and there weren't many people, so as novices we decided to have "fun" with the self-checkout.

What ghastly experience!  The automated female voice and the weight scale were asynchronous at times, and led to a lot of annoying moments.  We missed out on the opportunity to get more savings on our fancy breads, because we didn't tear off and scan the $1.00 off coupon.  On top of our self service, we were still charged for all the bags used, and had no discounts for next time for our free scanning and bagging.

So tell me what is the point in self-checkout?  If you had one or two items I can see it being faster or even more efficient.  However, where are the incentives to serving yourself?  No discounts, no coupons, no free bags?  As well, I have a sneaking suspicion that Metro will eliminate the express check out person (and other cashiers) until there is only a couple if this proves to be a successful endeavor.

Don't use self-check out unless you like to serve yourself in public places and still get charged for it.

Ah yes, what would I do without this Metro.  Convenient location. Open 24 hours. Usually useful weekly   specials. I went in today to use the Coinstar machine. Basically because I'm too lazy to wrap coins. Little did I know they raised the fee.  It was 9%, now its 11+%!!  That turned out to be a cost of about $31 on $260 worth of coinage.  Furthermore, I found out later that some TD banks have the same Coinstar machines and don't charge a fee at all.

This Metro is probably one of the better-stocked ones in the downtown area... AVOID THE ONE AT YONGE/COLLEGE AT ALL COSTS!  Unfortunately, because the St. Lawrence Market is so close, I often just walk on by...

I have never been greeted with an "out of stock" situation at this Metro... However, it seems that most people who frequent this Metro are incapable or don't know (hence, SHOULD NOT USE) the Self-Checkout because you're holding everyone else who only has 5 minutes left until their angry boss greets them, foot tapping and fingers tapping on their watch for being 5 minutes late coming back from lunch! *Deep inhalation* Wooh, almost passed out after that breath-taking sentence...

This Metro hasn't been reviewed recently enough. Came here again tonight to stock up on candy (in preparation for a cheap movie at Rainbow Cinemas!), fresh fruit and cereal at rock bottom prices for the long weekend. This Metro is open 24/7 and has a killer produce section right at the entrance.

When was the last time you considered approaching the checkout and had a cashier usher you towards her lane so she could 'have the pleasure of ringing up your purchases' (exact words)? Amazing. I felt like royalty! Anyone who lives within shopping vicinity of this location should definitely give it a visit.

As a grocery store, this is well-located with free parking and 24-hour service.  For such a large selection of cheese, the absence of organic cheese is a bit of an oversight.

We had a terrible experience with the catering department.  Not only were our trays not ready at the time we requested, they were still not ready when we came back 3 hours later!

The manager on duty threw a few free fruit trays our way (which didn't help much in the way of feeding our party guests...just left us with way more fruit than we needed to deal with!!), but did nothing else.

We complained to Metro headquarters, and the manager of the store, Dan Wright did NOTHING...not even a phone call!  (Yikes!  We're embarrassed for him!)

In any case, we just do not recommend using the catering department  at all!  Go to the nearby Sobeys or Loblaws or Rabba for the same prices & selection and hopefully better service!

    Cheers and happy grocery shopping!

good ol' reliable 24 hour grocery store
thank you for being there for all the necessities in life.
you are a little pricier than I'd like my regular grocery store to be, but your prices are comparable to the market across the street so I don't feel like I'm getting ripped off.

Dominion is owned by the Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company. Yes, A&P. But it's a lot different than your typical A&P store down in the lower 48. This one has a Tim Horton's inside along with some other fresh food areas to get a meal onsite. Bakery is big with lots of closeout deals. You can really score some good stuff and it still tastes pretty darn fresh! Like the states, Master Choice is the main store brand but the packaging and logo is different. So is the selection but it's nowhere near President's Choice at Loblaws. OK looking store, but rather non-descript compared to Loblaws down at the Quay.

If you are familiar with Metro stores in the city (I'm still trying to get Dominion's out of my head because that's what they were called before they changed to Metro), then this one is big clean, bright, fully stocked and usually well staffed.  It's not the closest (there's 3 in my area) but it's the best of the lot and equal to the Longo's as a grocery store.  This location has to compete with the St. Lawrence Market across the street so the prices and quality are not so far off.  I've been here a few times and I've got no major complaints as it's nicely laid out, spacious and well stocked and staffed.  My experience with the employees here have been good but I've never had to do any special requests and I was living in the area it would be my primary grocery store along with the market nearby.  It also accepts my Air Miles card like all the other Metro stores so I can eat my way to a holiday... eventually :P
