what i hope most fervently is that they don't change this place in a single way. haven't we enough venues for 'live music', etc? Old decrepit porno theatres are something this city needs more, not less, of. from the deeply perplexing exterior to the highly unpredictable interior, this is the stuff dreams are made of , kids. frightening, awesome, drug and alcohol-fuelled boner dreams. go there today!

The Metro Theatre is a porn theatre in Korea-town. Otehr than being a porn-review cinema, it would make a cool live venue to catch a show at, just a thought. It still has the old school semi-circle façade and blinking lights like Vegas and the girls on the front are painted on instead of actual photographs of semi-nude chicks. Stepping inside is like stepping back in time to a seedy peep show joint in the 70s. The guy who takes your money is (from what i remember) like a tiny lurch character and the smell of smoke is seeped so deeply in the walls, it's like the no-smoking law never came into effect. Situated in the middle of Korea-town, it goes almost ignored, even with it's outlandish facade. It's a wonderful piece of Toronto's vibrant tapestry and i hope it never closes.
