I give Meridian Market 4 starts and an RBI triple
Wow, only 16 reviews, folks really need exposure to this lovely little hot spot!
The 2 Italian brothers work hard and fast back there to keep this place running smooth.
This place has fantastic sangueeches! I go with the prosciutto, potatoe and egg sub and it is done right! Their chicken cutlet, eggplant parm, Italian, and meatball subs are just fine also along with their calzones.
Price is good and service is speedy. Local police and firemen like to pick up their sandwiches here too. You'll have to get parking on the street, but your in and out fairly quickly. - If you are close to Eastie, you definately want to stop in for a sangueech! -

Had a hankering for tripe. Went to Meridian. Terrific. These guys do Italian Deli right. Huge portions. Two of us shared a small order of Tripe for lunch and took some home.
Fresh and delicious. -

Every time I start eating something from Meridian Market, I think: this is a marathon, not a sprint, pace yourself. But I can'ttttttttt.
Do yourself a favor and order an aranchini. A deep-fried softball-sized rice ball with peas and lamb and delicious creamy tomato sauce, they are the pride and joy of Meridian and Italian cooking. I also adore their prosciutto, mozzarella, and tomato sub. They do the sandwich right.
Excellent for lunch, dinner, catering, noshing, gaining weight.Listed in: The Eastie-Revere-Winthrop…

Doesn't get five stars because I can't sit and eat comfortably. Otherwise I'd give it five stars. I wanna know how the hell sonny notos stays in business with this place nearby. Everything is soooo good. The Meridian special is wicked good. Hopefully those staties don't find out about this place, they can have notos.

This is really a great deli and a much better bargain then similar places in the North End. They have many ready made dishes (chicken cutlets, meatballs, eggplant parmigiana, arancini, sicilian style pizza) every day of the week and some specials that change frequently. Yesterday I got some great stuffed chicken with red peppers and cheese, and they also often have some broccoli rabe and trippe.
They also make great subs especially the Meridan Special with chicken cutlets, red peppers, prosciutto and mozzarella. They also make some great salads with cold cuts and cheese. The prices for cold cuts to go are very fair and are much cheaper then North End or even what you would find at Shaw's around the corner (for $7 you will get enough prosciutto for multiple sandwiches). The service is always excellent and it is family owned, they also sell some authentic Italian candies and cookies. Just a great place cannot say enough about it. -

Old-school
Straight-up
Italian Deli
Family owned and operated, non-nonsense, nothing frivilous. Order your sandwich with one of the friendly paisons behind the counter and minutes later you'll be holding a sandwich made with care, with fresh ingredients and probably the most delectably buttery soft bread I've ever put in my mouth.
Twice in the past week I have gone to Meridian and will keep coming back at this pace as far as I can see! -

MS Special all the way. Hands down the best sandwich in boston. And I must say I've tried just about every other chicken cutlet/prosciutto sandwich out there.
Worth the east boston tolls. -

This place kicks big Italian Ass. I had the chicken parm today, which is so good. And now I feel like a fat bastard, which is how you're supposed to feel after one of these sandwiches done right. Get the small on the braided roll. It's recommended by the Logan Airport Fire/Rescue guys, which is really the only endorsement a restaurant needs.

Food: WOW! incredibly fresh, crafted with pride and care. Don't even look at the extensive menu, just ask the guy behind the counter what you should have. For me it was the "Meridian Special"..."you're not gonna find a sandwich like this in Texas..." the guy said as he piled our sandwiches with porscuitto, fried chicken cutlet, fresh mozzarella, roasted peppers and basil. Easily one of the top 5 sandwiches I've ever eaten. The chicken escarole soup was very good as well. Fed 6 business travelers for just over $60...not bad!
Service: super friendly, you fell like you're a friend of the family. And the sandwiches are crafted with great pride -but quickly-. They check to make sure you're satisfied which I can't imagine you wouldn't be...
Atmosphere: your friendly neighborhood deli- quick and easy.
This will become a regular stop for me any time I fly in or out of Logan airport! -

I didn't get a chance to eat at their food market but did get some awesome food at their set up at the Fisherman's feast in the North End. They had a number of steamer trays filled to the brim with Arancini (rice balls), broccoli croquettes, stuffed artichokes, stuffed calamari, and tripe. Forgive me if I missed anything but I stopped at the tripe because I needed two servings! The tripe was simply made to perfection - nice tender pieces slow cooked in gravy (tomato sauce). I need to get over to East Boston to try some of their other foods that Yelpers are craving!

Meridian Market has the best Sub, called Meridian Market Special, a great blend of chicken and veggies. The people are extremely polite, the atmosphere is relaxing, and its pretty cheap. The only downside is that its more of a Grocery, than a Restaurant.

Meridian Market has the best eggplant parm I have ever tasted.... seriously, the best. Their food is beyond perfection. I've only had their hot dishes (catering), haven't had sandwiches or salads. Definitely recommend it for hot dishes!!!

Meridian is out of control in the freshness department. Chicky Parm with the freshest Mozzarella around, rolls are just ridiculous! A bit of a hike if your not from east Boston but well worth the journey!

Get the eggplant. Actually, get anything because it is all good. They are fast and efficient, always have good selection and they give you enough for 2. Prices are reasonable too. This is a great place to eat.

I've been going to the Meridian Market for 20 + years and eating Boston subs for twice as long (and we walked miles through the snow for our subs and we liked it like that). Not a lot has changed at the Meridian . Sure, the old Italian guys got older and older (who doesn't) and though they never lost a step and maintained the quality of the best sub in Boston they eventually sold to the young Italian guy. The point is that they make great take-out subs and a variety of other Italian style stuff ( calzones, pizza, plain & creative salads, etc.). When I last went in during the slow late afternoon I passed on my usual Lg.prosciutto & imported provolone w/ everything because my friend told me the sweet capicolla was good- it's my new favorite- like prosciutto but with a lot less fatty marbling. I was also given a taste of the soppresetta which is a high quality peppery salami ( on dry side, not slimy like I recall the product most shops use) and very good. Call for a take-out menu I think they must have a fax because they seem to do a fair amount of business/ lg. group orders. Call ahead when you know what you like and they will have it waiting- which can save 10+ minutes at lunch when the line is 10-20 peeps. Also parking is tight, be careful of ticket zones as the police station is a block away. Speaking of location it is located directly over the airport end of the Callahan tunnel. Take the east Boston exit, take your 1st right go one block, turn right go one block, go across intersection turning right onto angled street the Meridian is 1st business on right. Last note: subs now come in 3 sizes mini, medium & large (at approx. $5, $6, $7).If it hasn't changed the med. is a delicious sesame roll which I use as a foil for the traditional plain large roll. Also, they are traditionalist in the garnish dept. using fresh basil, roast peppers, etc. so if you want something blasphemous like pickles be sure to ask. I think they have an atm or there is one arond the corner.
