I loooooove their extra virgin olive oil. You have got to get a bottle to take home. Check out their aged balsamic collection too.

Located just beside Mercato Restaurant, this small, high-end specialty grocery store can be found waiting for you to look around. You definitely pay extra for the quality of their ingredients, selection, and products. It's so worth it, though! Their sauces are incredible and you can't go wrong with any of their meats and cheese. The take-home lasagna tastes amazing, and all you have to do is pop it in the oven.
They also have several balsamic products, for if you're a balsamic addict like myself.
Shopping here makes you feel as though you are at an authentic Italian grocer, selecting the fresh ingredients for your dinner gathering, or something of that nature! -

Although the prices can be rather high, so is the quality.
This is also my go to place for fresh herbs when I need them and my patio herb garden is not in bloom. -

Mercato offers a crazy selection of authentic Italian ingredients. Mama Cathy and Uncle Luigi have bottled their pride and sell it for a hefty price.
They have everything. From meats (ribeyes and veal) to a huge selection of cheese to all the herbs and tomatoes and spices you could ever want. They even sell fresh (not frozen) lasagna to bake at home. Everything is unbelievably fresh at this place. If that's not authentic enough for you, they even play Italian music to put you in the mood....
It's a great place and worth checking out. I'll be back for some of their seasoned ribeyes, once I save up.... -

There was honestly a time a couple months ago, where I was so sick of shopping at the Mission Safeway that I actually started religiously going to the Mercato Market for my produce, sauces, and cheese. It is a little insane because they really are expensive and I can't quite afford it! Haha! But really they have fantastic produce, really unique items like oyster mushrooms and fiddleheads. All of their sauces are also fantastic -- my favourite is the aspargus tomato sauce. Absolutely creamy and flavourful. And their cheese selection is fantastic!!!! Mmm...bocconcini! I also got some great fresh parmesan which tasted amazing with a little bit of olive oil and fresh brown rice pasta. Oh ya, they have a pretty good selection of gluten free pastas and crackers! Bonus!

Mercato was like a life line to me during my short stay in Calgary. It was the only.. well in my opinion ...only life line to the rest of the world. Great place to stop on a saturday morning for an illy americano and a bite to eat. I highly recommend the freshly made doughnuts. The grocery side of the place has an excellent variety of spices, oils, and yes their world famous balsamic, cured in a large oak barrel tapped right there in the store for you. All you have to do is grab a bottle, fill er up, and enjoy it to the very last drop. If your a foody and appreciate a 60 dollar salt, then check them out you wont be disappointed.
