Review from Megan S.
I had a really hard time deciding whether to round my 4.5 stars up or down; just as I had such a hard time deciding between the classic porchetta sandwich and the daily special of Chinese BBQ duck that I ended up ordering both. Sadly Yelp won't let me vote twice, so I'm going to be extra generous and round up to 5.
The porchetta was the clear winner of the two, it was just perfect. Though, not ideal for people who get grossed out if they realize they're suddenly chewing on a very large chunk of fat. The pork is hand chopped so the thickness varies; it's easier to handle a fatty chunk when it's thinly sliced, but this didn't bother me. The skin was crackly and flawless and the salsa verde cut the fat beautifully - it actually made the sandwich seem a lot "lighter" than it really is. Especially compared to the duck.
The duck had me at "Hoisin Glazed Duck Confit, Chinese BBQ Sauce, Sesame Aioli, Fennel & Radish Slaw", but the end result was even richer, sweeter and more anise-y than I had imagined. The duck itself was nicely done, but after eating half the sandwich I was kind of over the whole thing. I mean, true, I'd already inhaled a whole porchetta sandwich already, but that's not necessarily why I stopped.
The main thing that made up for the duck and pushed this review back up towards 5 stars was the customer service - the staff were exceptional. The guy who was managing the line and explaining the sandwiches to those of us wrapped around the outside of the building was super friendly, so was the guy who took the orders, and so were all three (yes THREE!) of the girls stationed at the till, adding soups, salads and drinks to the orders and ringing everyone up.
This place is a well-run ship with a fantastic porchetta sandwich - if you want a guaranteed good lunch, get that.Listed in: Sammiches!

Sit at the bar or grab a seat at the long communal table and enjoy rich, fatty porky goodness...what's not to like??
I visited for the first time w/ my wife, and we ordered the porchetta sandwich and the meatballs. Yumm...it was my first experience eating a porchetta sandwich and it was as tasty as I imagined it to be. There was a good balance between lean and fatty meat. I wished the crackling was a bit more pronounced and crisp and hoped for some arugula to cut through the fattiness, but the whole package was extremely well balanced & luscious, and the herb vinagrette paired nicely.
My wife had the meatball sandwich which was delicious as well. Each bite packed in a powerful punch of flavors that were nicely layered. The meatball was a bit spicy (which I didn't mind) but I could see how it might be problematic if a young kid who is expecting flavors less spicy. The marinara sauce was rich and tasty as well.
We also had their soup (corn chowder) of the day which was tasty but too watery for me.
Overall--Very outstanding. The food was tasty. Service spot on...from host, those at the "carving" (chopping) stations, bus staff, and cashier. Highly recommended if one hasn't been yet, and I'm sure to go back to try their specials and other items on their regular menu. -
Review from Ellen L.
The Porchetta didn't rock my socks off. The pork was very nice - perfect combination of fat and lean; not greasy. The crispy skin bits packed a flavourful punch. But the buns - what a major downer! Some parts were rock hard. Overall chewy, not in a good way. I don't often hate on carbs, but that was some awful bread.
Nice hip space. Big line-ups, even at 2pm. Sorry peeps and Guy Fieri, I'm gonna call this one just a bit overrated. :/Listed in: Lunching it up Downtown

Got here around 12:30pm and found a line out the door. Service was fast and friendly. Line moves quickly and the porquetta sandwich was extremely delicious! Perfect crispy pork skin and sauce. Not a place for lingering. Only open for lunch.

Came here for dessert and ordered their bacon maple ice cream sandwich. The pieces of bacon were a nice touch, and the waffle cookies were a perfect addition, BUT there was a weird perfumy taste to the ice cream. It was alright, but not $4.50 alright.
Their sandwiches did look really good and next time I must try one! -
Review from Nick C.
The porchetta was amazing. I would totally do it again and again and again. $8 a sandwich but worth it.

WOW! what a place!
Saw this place on DDD (food network) and knew we had to visit when we visited Vancouver.
The pork is soooooo yummy!
Also had the meatballs, sooo good!
Love the atmosphere and the big long table! -
Review from Kwoky L.
I don't care for sandwiches really. The thought of bad sandwich meats with buns that usually fall apart at the first bite just ... ugh I don't want to go there. But Meat & Bread delivers what they are all about: great meat and fantastic bread.
Their signature porchetta was made fresh so they stayed nice and juicy on the inside with the oh so crunchy skin on the outside. Seriously they should just start selling porchetta skin sandwiches. When you serve the delicious meat on a fresh crusty bread with salsa verde, it was literally porky heaven in my mouth.
What I also like about Meat & Bread is the menu. It's small and simple and everything on it sounded amazing. They also carry Fentimann's soda and if you haven't tried the Burdock dandelion soda, you are missing out.
Oh man, thank you Meat & Bread. I love sandwiches now. -

They have the best Italian meat ball sandwich I've ever had. Spicy too! They layer a base of thick meat sauce before putting on large meatballs and Parmesan slices. The turkey chili is also very spicy and delicious. Very filling with so much meat.

I want to steal this idea and move it to Los Angeles. The simplicity is that there are a few sandwiches that are permanent, one being a porchetta that is top 10 in sandwiches ever eaten. Special sandwiches change everyday.
Served on a wood board in a setting that that encourages discussions with strangers and lets face it Canadians are some of the nicest people on earth. If you are in Vancouver go here. -

I came here for lunch and the sandwiches are amazing, the people, the service and the whole layout of the place is amazing as well. The salads for acompaning the sandwich are small, good and delicious. Just right for having with your sandwich. For desert I tried the ice cream sandwiches and the ice cream has bacon bits in it!!! Interesting combination, maybe not for everyone but bacon lovers have to try it.
I'm definitely coming back and giving the signature porchetta sandwich a try. It looked really tasty! -

As if they need another review...
If you're in the mood for fatty pork head to Meat and Bread for the Porchetta. However I've tried a few other sandwiches here without much luck. The last one I tried was full of water and was a mess to eat (thankfully I ate it in the restaurant and not my office). The soups I've tried have all been nice.
It is super busy here all day but they have a host who ushers you in and assures you he'll find you a seat at their community style table or bar. I've managed to snag the window seats a couple times with friends or just had it to go.
This place is definitely worth trying and I'm glad to be nearby! -

I give this place a 5!!!! We walked into this place at the perfect time, it was lunch time but only 1 person in front of us...then BAM....a huge line behind us.
We got the porchetta sandwich and meatball sandwich....they were both absolutely fantastic!!! Porchetta was super freshly sliced and came with crunchy skin....the meatball was cooked perfectly and the sauce with a little kick.
I like this place as it is totally casual and the staff was very nice. One big long table in the middle and a counter with stools to sit at. Get to know your neighbor style!!!
It gets quite crowded there so hopefully you can get a seat....not a sit down and chat for a while type of place as you will probably get weird looks when people have food in their hands looking for a spot to sit down. The wait staff is quick to clear the spots and help you find a seat too.
Definitely a good place to eat and I recommend.
Happy eating!!! -

Whatever you are doing, stop...you must go to Vancouver and eat at Meat & Bread!
We just took a trip to Vancouver and felt lucky enough to have seen this place featured on Diners, Drive-ins & Dives! We ate three meals from there over the two days we were there! The Porchetta sandwich is a staple on their menu, and it's for good reason! The pork is delicious, and the cracklin' that they add to each sandwich is literally the cherry on top!
We also tried the veal breast sandwich and the turkey paprikash, but we both kept going back for the Porchetta! The bread is nice and crispy and the meat is tender and juicy! The only bad thing about the experience is that I don't live in Vancouver so I can't eat there more often! -
Review from Nancy W.
Do you know who Doris Freedman is? She is the lunch lady in the cafeteria of Springfield Elementary where Bart and Lisa Simpson attend school. If you are still puzzled, you've been deprived as a child. She has engraved what a cafeteria is for my childhood. You get a tray, and move down the line until Doris scoops you a pile of mysterious food.
I guess times have changed or cartoons are not true reflections of reality. I am in Gastown for a late lunch, there is a huge lineup outside and I just can't call myself a foodie any longer if I haven't tried it. I peak inside and to my right is a magnetic board of the menu. There are a few choices in sides and even fewer for mains. I was concerned that I had to make a choice for lunch but was even more afraid of making the wrong decision. They have eliminated that problem since you don't really get to choose.
Slowly but surely we've moved inside. Loud music with base is playing and the crowd was exciting. There was a bunch of guys behind the counter. Some of them have inked sleeves, most of them had a certain swag about them. They were cutting this huge piece of meat, and it would've been a sin no to order whatever they were making. In fact, I ordered the sandwich by pointing to the meat. Let's take a stab into what we ordered.
Porchetta with Salsa Verde: Huge piece of pork slowly roasted, with a herb sauce stuffed into it. The juicy and fatty meat was so good. I had a hard time keeping the juice from drooling from the side of my mouth. I almost forgot to mention, there was bread too. If they ever ran out of bread, just serve me the meat.
Duck: Orange Cranberry Glaze, Cracked Pepper, Balsamic Onion Puree, Mixed Leaves. Very subtle taste of the orange cranberry glaze and balsamic puree, the star of the sandwich was the duck. Very generous serving of stripped duck meet aided by the sauce and mixed vegetables.
Beet Salad: I hate beet because of a certain raw vegetable taste much like raw celery. M&B did a fantastic job of reducing that taste, so I can enjoy it. The cilantro gave this salad a lot of depth as well.
For Beverage, we had Thirsty Beaver Amber Ale, and Fentimans Victorian lemonade. The Amber Ale is local to Kelowna, and frankly nothing special. It tastes like Granville Island Brewery's with different package. I will admit right now that I am not a beer expert, I just drink it. The lemonade was also nothing special. I do appreciate the fact that it's made the old fashion way. The last thing I want is radiation green sugar water. I will rely on absinthe for that next time I visit Amsterdam.
Bacon Ice Cream Sandwich: Everyone is freaking out about this one. OMG! BACON IN ICE CREAM! That's the coolest thing EVER! Calm down everyone, it's nothing special. I had a hard time telling the difference between regular ice cream and bacon ice cream. I guess the difference is that this sandwich lacked bacon. It was like I am a pirate and the bacon was the treasure. Except I am not Johnny Depp and all I found was a shoe in the treasure chest.
To sum up Meat & Bread, it's a mix of a retail store, successful marketing experiment, and cafeteria. Who wouldn't want fat and juicy pork after lining up outside for the last 30 minutes? Boxing gloves hung on a punching bag? They've made Rocky proud. They have better installations than Livestock, the premier street wear retailer just down the street. I applaud Meat and Bread for their marketing ideas, and simple restaurant concepts. I know successful restaurants have fewer choices on the menu but 2 features and a couple of other choices? Brilliant! I love that take it or leave it attitude. If you feel inpatient about lining up, move over so I can get my grub on faster. -

Fantastic sandwiches. The best part is while lining up, you can watch them cut the meat off the pork/meat and put it onto your sandwich...it just ads to the experience. And the sandwiches are actually some of the best and simple sandwiches.
These guys deserve to have a lineup every day like they do. Good service, fast, efficient, and tasty! -

Today's lunch was a trial of Meat and Bread...I've heard about it from a number of people, it was on Diners Drive-ins and Dives the other day, and I figured what the hell...so I went in, looked at the over-sized menu on the wall and told the guy asking for my order that it was my first time coming to check the place out. He suggested their porchetta sandwich so that's what I got. The first guy I encountered was really nice, the cashier on the other hand put me off quite a bit.
I walked up to her to pay, and she asked me if I wanted anything else with it like a salad. As I was about to answer, she started talking to someone else beside her, and when she was done I tried to get her attention to ask for a bottle of the Rosemary Lime Sip soda. She gave me a funny look, rang in the order, I paid and stepped back to wait. I did not get my soda. Another customer got his sandwich, paid and left. My sandwich arrived, which was nice though some of the meat fell out on the cutting board, and still no soda. I asked the cashier for my drink and she had to ask which one I'd paid for (there had only been one other customer besides myself?) only for her to reach to the fridge beneath her to get it. Honestly if it was right beside her why didn't she just give it to me when I paid? I found her attitude quite arrogantly distracted and it made me feel very out of place there.
I took my sandwich back to where i was doing a photography project for the afternoon, to eat it in a slightly more comfortable environment (maybe I'm not Yaletown-Yuppie enough for her but I did not like her energy). The sandwich itself was quite good - fresh bread, super tender pork strips which are quite messy if you don't know how to handle the sandwich, and nice spices. The meat itself tasted like it was coated in a combination of salt/pepper and pesto. It was quite good, just a pity the service was only good when ordering. I'm iffy as to whether or not I would go back because of the cashier's behaviour. -

Porchetta sandwiches and maple bacon ice cream sandwich. Yum. Beautiful hip people to scope out. Yum. Communal atmosphere w giant table which is very Gastown/ hip? Yum. Defn a place to check out; even a worthy place to bring tourist friends to as you show them around Gastown -- you know, that hip up & coming area in Vancouver you hang out at, all the time?
oh yeah -- the cauliflower soup was very taste bud pleasing (recommended) and the meatball sandwich leaves something to be desired (non recommended).... and you'll also want to hit this place early so as to get your top picks & skip the crowd -

I don't eat a lot of meat, but a place with a big bold sign that says only MEAT & BREAD is so simple that it's almost irresistible, and I found myself dallying in a short lunch lineup. I hadn't been waiting long when a fellow greeted me and asked if I'd been there before; I took the opportunity to ask him where their meat comes from, and he immediately named the farms and the towns where Meat & Bread get their pork, lamb, and beef. This is a huge plus to me - I try to only eat meat that I have some idea where it comes from. So I got the porchetta sandwich, and oh yeah, it's GOOD. And BIG. It's so savoury and flavourful, it's hard to believe. I did find myself picking out some fatty chunks, but that may just be my tolerance level. I could barely move after I finished the sandwich, but it was nice just to sit at the table and soak up the ambiance and the energy of the place.
I was too full to try the maple bacon ice cream sandwich that day, so I came back the next day at closing to snag it as an end-of-day treat. Yum! -
Review from Doug G.
So after all the hype, I went expecting something amazing.
The lunch time line up is always a good sign. The staff move people through extremely efficiently which means the long line doesn't mean a long wait. There is a host at the door welcoming you and explaining menu options which definitely impressed me. I felt I really had to try the Porchetta sandwich, and they had a potato soup which I tried as well. One LONG shared table is where everyone searches for a seat, there are a couple of cramped tables near the window. If you are looking for a private intimate place for a business meeting this is not the place.
Like everyone else has said, the Porchetta was tasty and, while I'm sure far from healthy with all the salt and fat, I would go back for it again. I should have trusted my gut instinct on the Potato soup - I didn't finish it. Incredibly bland and uninteresting.
Overall, I'd say this is a solid lunch place. I doubt you'd be unhappy. I can't say it's anything more than A-OK three stars for me however. -
Review from David L.
Pork lovers will love this place.
Pretty wicked porchetta sandwiches. Roasted pork with crunchy skin added to the sandwich. Their porchetta is carved right in front of you and they add lots of meat for their little sandwiches too. It would be even better if there was an option to add some veggies and baked their own ciabatta bun.
For now, this is the place for some of the best pork sandwiches in Vancouver. -

Kudos to their marketing as the place was obviously abuzz on a Saturday afternoon. All seats were occupied and there was a long queue. As you queue up, you'll see their preparation of the signature porchetta sandwich - roasted pork chopped up complete with crispy skin and just enough fat to make you go ooh and aahh at the same time, topped with a salsa made of parsley.
My sandwich was good, but nnooot quite as juicy as it looked on Diners Drive-In & Dives, which is why I decided to check this place out. Aside from the "experience" of being in the store that everyone is talking about, the sandwich itself could probably have been a bit hotter to bring out both the taste of the pork and the bread. Too bad, because the pork looked awesome. That's where they lost one star.
I had to compare the pork to the Chinese BBQ roasted pork (the one with crispy skin, a layer of fat, and meat with sometimes some bones). For the money ($8), I could have gotten more but the quality was there at M&B. Even the salt tasted good.
Was told to try the beef chuck next time. Will do! -
Review from Arnold P.
I need to get here earlier. Everytime I come here, the porchetta is sold out, that's 3 times so far. The Meatball Sambal, it is again. It has the same consistency as the first time. The sambal marinade/sauce is not spicy, it has just a hint of spice.

Simply terrific, simple, great food, great prices, the Porchetta is to die for, Grilled Cheese the best i ever had and the Meatball is excellent. Great prices, service and a NY Meat Packing district feel and decor, I expect to see Anthony Bourdain to walk in every time i eat there. Love the big table seating too, met many new friend eating there and a very attractive hip crowd. I highly recommend. Guy Fierri was absolutely right on with this selection for his show Diners, Drive Ins and Dives.

Meat & Bread is an excellent lunch option. I grabbed a delicious porchetta sandwich for $8 and washed it down with a refreshing Fentimans cola (if only they had the burdock and dandelion flavour!!). This place has great character, friendly staff, long communal wooden tables are a great feature in a usually anti-social Vancouver.
The porchetta sandwich is their staple, juicy meat with perfectly crispy ends on a lightly seasoned ciabatta roll. The also offer a Stanley Park Belgian style amber beer in bottles, a cider and wine.
I'm looking forward to trying the meatball and daily special sandwich next time. -

Good sandwiches. The porchetta is a little too fatty for my liking, but their other sandwiches are good too. I like the meatball and the beef brisket.
The lunch line is long, but the trick is to get there a little ahead of the crowd. On numerous occasions, I've walked in at Noon on-the-dot and there was no line. Fifteen minutes later and the line is out the door! The line moves fast though. The sandwiches are prepared very quickly. The line has a cafeteria feel to it, but the tasty food is worth it.
I like the decor, but I'm not crazy about the long table. -

I had heard amazing things and happened to be in the neighborhood and was super hungry. I ordered my sandwich, the veal, and proceeded to pay. Their machine was down and I had no actual cash on me. I was saddened as I watched my delicious sandwich being made knowing that I couldn't buy it. The owner told me not to worry and that I could just pay the next time I was in. Being cheeky I asked him, "how do you know I will be back?" He smiled and assured me that once I had the sandwich I would be back....He was right!! I dove in as soon as I got into my car....it was soooo good. I drove straight to a bank machine and got the cash and went back to get another sandwich for my boyfriend. I have been back a few times since and enjoy my lunch everytime. They are always super nice and the atmoshpere is welcoming.....I have been lucky and go at the right times as I have yet to hit a line up! Yay!!

Heard so many great things about Meat & Bread living in Toronto, I made it a point to come out and try when I was in Vancouver.
Four sandwiches: grilled cheese, meatball, turkey confit, and porcetta, each for about 8$.
Got them made and ate pretty quickly, and they tasted quite, quite nice. The porcetta with salsa verde was better than the turkey because of that crunch of the skin.
One thing that I thought was really quite annoying:
I asked the sandwich guy to cut our order of two sandwiches in half so we could split them and he refused. He had a huge knife right there. I asked him why and he said "We don't cut our sandwiches in half", and told me to cut it myself and that it was really not a hard thing to do. WELL obviously it was, 2kewl2cutsandwich man.
Sandwich was tasty, but the foul taste of sandwich man's attitude left me displeased with the overall experience. -

Everyone needs to experience Meat & Bread. Guaranteed it will be busy, the staff will be friendly and you'll eat a delicious sandwich! The menu is limited, averaging $8 and you'll be getting quality ingredients. The decor is a time machine into an era of classy bar meets 1940's locker room? There is one monster table, cafeteria style, which makes it easy to squeeze in next to your neighbor and have a chat, or for you and some friends to glom on to a chunk of table and enjoy a schmooze fest.
Great place to impress a date (or your boss), but beware as sandwiches can be messy, this isn't delicate eating!
I took my country bumpkin parents here for lunch and we ate it at Victory Square. They were absolutely blown away by the whole experience. They talk about it every time they visit. -

A brilliant example of the adage: do one thing and do it well. The sandwiches here are destination worthy. I stopped by with 3 companions and we ordered four sandwiches between us to share: the pork, the meatball, the turkey confit, and the grilled cheese. Some of us had slight favorites, but everyone agreed that ALL of them were really spectacular. Personally, I could not decide -- each one was the best while I was eating it -- and now will I have to order all of them every time? I can't imagine narrowing down the list to just one.
Oh, the house-made mustard -- they squirt a little puddle on every sandwich board -- was amazing! It was especially great on the succulent grilled cheese. Less successful was the apple/beet salad, but stick to the sandwiches and you will find lunch nirvana.
Meat and Bread has been added to -- and moved to the top of -- our list of must-stop-on-the-way-to-and-from Whistler spots. Don't let the line out the door deter you, it moves quickly and is so worth the wait. -
Review from Wendy Y.
I thought I could get away with no line ups at around 3pm on a Saturday, but boy was I wrong. It turned out people want and crave for sandwiches at odd times just like me. The communal tables were practically packed as more people were rolling in from the cold.
Porchetta was the only sandwich that was available so I ordered it (without hesitation as I've long heard about the hype).
The Porchetta turned out to be one heck of an orgasmic sandwich! What you are paying ($8) is top quality. I love how simple this sandwich is. There are only 3 components: pork, salsa verde, and ciabatta bread.
The pork was succulent, flavorful (thanks to the belly fat and god knows what kind of herbs that were roasted with the pork). The pork skin is ever-so-crunchy.
Salsa verde cuts the pork fat nicely so you can have mouthful bites after bites and you just want to keep going and going...
The ciabatta bread is fresh. I love that chewiness the bread provides. I don't think the sandwich would have worked with any other bread.
I couldn't stop smiling and be in my own la-la land. I can't wait to eat you again... Porchetta I mean.Listed in: Anything Italian

and my friends had the meat ball sandwich and
that was really delicious and filling. i will have to
order it next time. i like the big communal table &
the dudes that make your sandwich were not too
hard to look at either : ] great atmosphere. -

I can think of multiple reasons to get dual citizenship so I could live in Vancouver. The number one reason would be Stanley Park but the second reason just might be so I can go to lunch at Meat & Bread daily.
When you have a limited menu whatever you are making you had better be knocking it out of the park. Meat & Bread is doing just that with their porchetta sandwich ($8). I don't know you or your mouth but what I do know is your mouth deserves to taste this.
A generous portion of crispy, fatty, soft, succulent pork is pilled high and hugged on all sides by a fresh porous ciabatta roll doing all it can to soak up all those divine piggy juices. Apparently ciabatta and I have something in common.
The sandwich comes accompanied with a small pool of yellow mustard for dipping but it doesn't need it. Why would anyone want to mask the flavors of so much delicious pig? Now the side it does need unfortunately I had to purchase which was a $6 pale ale.
This was easily one of the top 3 best sandwiches I have ever eaten and who knows maybe someday I will be able to eat it daily while running through Stanley Park. And by running I mean sitting.Listed in: Sandwiches found in the…, Last Meals

I went here for lunch yesterday after hearing many great things. This restaurant definitely lived up to its name. I went for brunch with my father. I had the porchetta sandwich with the potato salad, and he had the meatball sandwich and with the thai soup. I was extremely impressed with the efficiency. Even though the restaurant was bumpin' everyone on the line was right on the ball. We got our food promptly and in a friendly fashion.
We sat down in the cafeteria style dining area, which was very comfortable. What I like most about it is the opportunity it gives to socialize with other patrons. Its open, casual feel makes for a very friendly environment.
The sandwiches and sides were quite satisfying; however, the soup was a little salty. Thankfully, somehow we saved room for dessert. The maple bacon ice cream sandwich was to die for. I haven't had such a delectable dessert in a long time. Since I love savoury, and I'm not much of a chocolate fan, this dessert takes the cake! I would have no problem going back just for the ice cream sandwich.Listed in: True Comfort

No joke, I have food dreams. A regular appearance in my dreams is one of the meatball sandwich with thin slices of gran padano cheese, hot, thick marinara-type sauce and juicy meat. The lunch line up flows quickly (in my experiences) and before you know it, and usually only 8$ later, you're handed a wood plank, upon which lies an enticing sandwich along with a dollop of their hot mustard. For my meatball sandwich, I usually also order a tasty cold ginger beer, which I find to compliment the food nicely. It's funny to imagine how before I came here for the first time, I ate mostly vegetarian meals. This food helped convert me into a carnivore! Arggh, Yumm! I love it.
The food is obviously incredible, and the space is quite remarkable too; the high ceilings, small square-footage, white-painted brick walls, and wooden tables, most of which are communal, make for an bustling atmosphere, yet intimate dining experience.
I would recommend going here perhaps solo or with one other person; finding seating with a big group could be difficult at peak hours.

Porchetta virgin no more!
I wanted this slow-roasted cornucopia of pork to woo my tastebuds. In Italian ideally.
So I was disgruntled to find myself agreeing with reviewers that found the meat to taste like an herbaceous spin on Chinese roast pork.
The pork: a touch dry, a touch chewy & a touch one-sided w/ the seasoning (literally).
The crackling: rubbery 1, crunchy 0.
The ciabatta: sturdy. perhaps too much so for my jaw's liking.
The staff: sweetie pies. in their own boyishly charming way of course.
Since a power outage pushed back their opening time that morning, I circled their block a few times to kill time. Frequently enough for 1 of them made a point of thanking me for coming back when I finally went in to order!
Bottomline: the proof is in the meat & bread.
I have a terrible weakness for giving 2nd chance to places whose concept I like though, so who knows! -

Love the simplicity of their food offerings. Short list of menu items cooked tastefully. Place is always packed (a sign that they do great job, but can be frustrating when you DO want to get their tasty bites). Love the decor and the friendly staff!!!
