Review from Helen G.
When your child does not feel like skiing, this is the place to take them. The Sports Centre has a great swimming pool for kids plus steam room, sauna and hot tub for adults. My son (8 yrs old) thoroughly enjoyed his afternoon at this sports centre. The kids pool has a whirlpool section, a tiny lazy pool plus lots of fun. There is also a slide but not a very big, extensive slide - just a short slide. There is also a swing rope for older kids to swing into the pool. While my son enjoyed splashing in the pool, I went to the steam room and hot tub to enjoy and unwind. The pool was clean; the staff friendly and helpful. There is a family changing room so that you and your child can change and shower in one place. It is also a great value at about $9 for adult and $5 for kids. If you bring your own towel, then you can save on the $2.50 towel rental charge.
They also have a full gym and skating rink at this sports centre so there are lots of activities to spend your day outside of skiing. I highly recommend this place. -

Drop in rates are $6 before 8:30am or after 9pm and $8 any other time - you can also get a day pass with in and out privileges. There are also various family rates and rates for kids. It's not too far from the Whistler village (5 minute drive or less), and there are plenty of facilities here to get your work out in on rainy days (most of the days in Whistler that we experienced).
If you're not going skiing, they have plenty of cardio equipment, group classes, weights (free and machine), squash courts, two pools (one for kids and one for lap swimming), a full sized ice rink, etc.
It's very well maintained and clean, with lots of purell everywhere to sanitize your hands. Parking is free, and lockers are 50 cents each. -

In my six months of living in Whistler I never went to Meadow Park. It was always there, always easy to get to, but there was something always coming up when I was planning to go.
When I went back last year for a visit my friend practically dragged me to go swimming at the Sports Centre when she found out I had never been. I kind of wish she hadn't. Then I would have never known what I missed out on.
The centre is really nice and well maintained. The lockers rooms are clean and are designed to offer some privacy. The pool itself is out of this world. The Olympic sized pool offers lap swimming during certain hours and playtime with a swinging rope and a slide during others. The jacuzzis are big and the saunas are sizable as well.
The crowning glory to this place is the kids pool. Shallow on one end, it gently slopes to a whirl pool and a small lazy river. I could have spent five hours slowly circling around the whirlpool.
Of my entire Whistler experience, the only thing I would have changed is going to this place and often. I would have loved to have tried the skating rink, gym and racquetball courts. Oh well, at least YOU'LL know to go!Listed in: Active Whistler
