Review from Dru C.
I grew up at this library branch. I still remember the old wooden oak building, small and very very short, as a building. There was this whole fenced off area for the kids book section and it merged with the teens section, with videos on the left as you entered and a great large middle area for story times and great imaginations being created.
The renovations made it very different. For sure now it doesn't seem as intimate as it used to be. Everything is wide open, the meeting rooms are very large (which is a good thing). I enjoy the new study areas, as there are A LOT within this building and some of them have AMAZING view to see confederation park.
I love coming here when I actually have the time to, or come for research. The parking here is abundant, which is always good. The only thing I don't like is how loud it is. When it gets loud it gets loud here, especially with the children on the other side, you can still hear the loud noise.
I need to come here more often as the winter approaches. I heard it looks amazing if you look out if it is snowing at night. The running circle looks amazing. -

Procrastinating and can't study at home? Annoyed with the confines of university and walls of their stinky libraries? Well, you've found the right place!
I haven't stepped foot in a public library for years *ponders* ... since my last Nancy Drew? ::Revisited:: My appreciation grows for this branch as the weather gets colder. The once stained and dusty McGill library has transformed into a cozy and contemporary library fit for post-secondary students.
Brownie Points: Free Wireless. Lots of study space and plugs for laptops. Floor-to-ceiling windows with scenic views of Confederation park beneath your feet. Neighbour to a variety of restaurants and cafes for meal breaks (nothing motivates page-flipping more than food :P). Tamed children (well, most of the time anyway).
And yes, you can really rent DVDs here (I haven't checked out the titles so don't be upset if you find out they only have educational topics like child birth or puberty)!
