When I moved to Halifax, I had a difficult time finding a doctor that respected me and listened to my concerns. Fortunately, once I had decided to bail on the first doctor, I found Dr. Bruce Silburt and his staff at the Mayflower Medical Centre.
Mayflower Medical is a shared practice. Dr. Silburt practices there, as do a number of his colleagues. The central office staff support all associated doctors.
I've seen two other doctors besides Dr. Silburt. Everyone has been respectful and kind, and worked with me to find a solution to whatever was bothering either myself or one of my kiddos. Of particular note is the weekend clinic hours they offer; sometimes that's the only way you can get seen in a hurry.
Having said that, I do have to let you know that appointments go quickly; for a routine visit, expect to wait 2 - 3 weeks. It's difficult to be seen for an urgent complaint, which is why I have back-up doctors at the Family Focus Medical Clinic. Between the two practices, I can usually get everything taken care of without too much bother.
If you have an appointment booked, it's a good plan to bring a book -- it's very common to have a significant wait before being called back. But, all things considered, I'm very pleased with both Dr. Silburt and the Mayflower Medical Centre.
