      May Wah Inn is an Asian restaurant in Windsor, Canada offering primarily westernized Cantonese cuisine and daily dim sum. The dining room had enough tables for probably close to 100 customers. A small shared parking lot was available in front of the building. Prior to the pandemic, we went for dinner and ordered a group special for our table. The dishes consisted of the following...

      * Egg Roll and Fried Shrimp Toast
      * Congee with Beef
      * Stir Fried Beef with Broccoli and Mushrooms
      * Sweet and Sour Chicken with Broccoli
      * Yang Chow Fried Rice

      What became noticeable was the amount of sweet and sour sauce used because it overpowered the chicken on that plate so that was a negative. Both the egg roll and fried shrimp toast had retained their crispiness even though you could tell they had been out of the fryer for a bit of time. None of the other items stood out from a flavor perspective. Overall, the food quality and quantity was rather average.

      My brother and sister-in-law live near Detroit and say this is the best place to get dim sum in the area. So, when I flew in from California, I packed my passport and happily paid the $10 round-trip toll.

      Unlike dim sum places that I have been to in LA, Oakland, Hong Kong, and Albuquerque (yes, even ABQ), this is not a place where they bring the carts around and you choose from whatever happens to be out. Maybe it's like that on the weekends, I don't know. But not when we went on a Thursday.

      The options are slightly limited, but this isn't a bona fide Chinatown. They have the traditional staples such as ha gow, siu mai, chicken feet, pot stickers, taro root, turnip cake, jin dui, etc. We got the pot stickers, taro root, turnip cake, eggplant, and fried tofu with an order of Hong Kong style chow mein. My brother loves the beef chow fun here, as it is done in the traditional style, but they were out today.

      If you don't know how to use chopsticks, I'm sure that you can ask for a fork, but our table had only chopsticks. Good place to make your belly happy.

      Great food. We love their pork spring rolls. Shrimp fried rice and dim sum are fantastic too. Too bad they don't deliver

      Stopped by for late lunch after picking up family friend from the Windsor Airport. We got seated right way and ordered our food... we went with dim sum and ordered 3 of different offerings.

      Food comes out slow though and all at once... the prices of the dim sum were very reasonable, cheap if you are from the US side... our bill came out to $88 CAN with tip, but after conversion, it was $66.

      The dim sums were decent, not the best I had, but decent... tasted the same as those from the US side, but I guess it all comes down to personal taste. I would definitely revisit when swinging by or driving through Windsor. However, I wouldn't go out of way to visit when other joints in the US side offers dim sum.

      For the price of the dim sums, not bad... service need a little work.

      What warrants an hour drive from Michigan with bridge tolls both ways? Authentic dim sum at May Wah in Windsor. Is there legit dim sum closer than having to trek across the border? I don't know, but May Wah does come pretty close to what I'm used to by standards in California.

      We got the staples, and everything tasted delicious and had a nice homemade touch.
      - Siu mai: Nice juicy pork
      - Turnip cake: Liked the turnip-dominated composition, because some places use too much starch. The lightly pan-fried crisp on the surface was a detail that was on-point
      - Glutinous rice: (No it's not rice with extra gluten) Hearty as it should be but not too heavy; infused with chicken broth and soy flavors
      - Shrimp dumplings, rice noodle rolls: Standard, though not the best shrimp I've ever had
      - Taro pork puffs: An exterior of fine, almost melt-in-your-mouth crispy shreds, contrasting the thicker interior of mashed sweet taro and savory pork--a lot going on, and well crafted to highlight the contrasts
      - Egg tarts: The flakey crust was delicately multi-layered

      Because I've been missing good Chinese food, I also got a mixed vegetable and BBQ pork lo mein and a Singaporean fried noodle for take-out. Both were amazing; the lo mein was a little saucier than I'd like, but the Singaporean fried noodles blew me away with its good turmeric flavors, generous portions of BBQ pork/shrimp/fried egg, and near complete lack of greasiness. The two noodle dishes together probably weighed as much as a baby.

      The ambiance is a homey classic Chinese restaurant, with ample seating. I was amused by how fortune cookies have English and French :D The servers are very friendly and the place definitely has a family-owned small-business vibe. Prices are quite good, especially considering the portion sizes, and it is also nice of them to take American debit. (We went to Sharetea afterwards, and they would only take American cash at a 1:1 exchange)

      I'm grateful that Trump's America hasn't built a wall next to Canada yet, because sometimes you do need to cross the border for priorities like dim sum.

      I'd give this place a 3.5, it wasn't terrible but it wasn't the amazing dimsum either. You can order certain things from the kitchen such as vegetable plates or congee but the other dimsum choices come tray by tray as the food runners bring them out. It's very inefficient to me. I'd assume it's much easier just to use a push cart but alas we must patiently wait for the next tray delivery...

      There were not as many options as I'm use to. The normal steamed shrimp dumplings and siu mai were available but both were not up to my standards. The skin was too sticky and thin, broke apart just taking it off the steamer/plate. The shrimp in flour tasted a bit old, like it's been sitting out in the air, not silky and soft as it would be fresh. The turnip pudding squares were undercooked and too mushy. The preserved egg and pork congee was a little too watery. The egg tarts were good. The sweet fried sesame balls were good. The sticky rice Zhongzi was not what I expected, with the meat mixed into the rice, this was all rice on top then a layer of meat in the bottom. The Chinese broccoli gai lan was not bad. The spare ribs were on the rare side. The service was lacking a bit with the speed the food came out but one waitress was very nice. She tracked down all the dimsum we wanted and sent those trays our way.

      Came here for dim sum because the reviews seemed excellent. The food was good, but nothing extraordinary. We ate more than I took photos of, but there seemed to be a very limited selection. We came on a Saturday so I don't know if that affected what was on offer. They didn't have the carts come around, just teenagers carrying trays. The parking area was very small and cramped. I would worry about parking if the entire restaurant was full. I would definitely come back if I were in the area again, but I'm not sure if it was worth crossing the border just for this restaurant.

      Servers are not as attentive as other places. Food is mediocre for a visitor. If you are a local, then it might be okay for you to eat here. In addition, they have very limited dim sum menu.

      Nice Chinese Guangdong style tea party breakfast. Dim sum are nice, you can order in Chinese,Cantonese or English. That make you feel familiar just like in Guangdong.
