Review from Gretchen C.
Vancouver, BC
my favourite club in whistler... and maybe even in the world. i'm not even joking.
the music they play here is AMAZING. the dj just kills it. it starts off with a little housey top 40 at the beginning of the night, but as the night goes on, the music just gets harder and harder... the drops just become dirtyyyyyy. they incorporate a mix of everything from hard house, to dubstep, hiphop, etc. i always dance my ass off all night long and leave the place dripping in sweat.
i can't even comment on the crowd or anything else really, because when i'm here, i'm usually with a group of my friends just daaaaancing the night away to the music... until the club closes and it's time for zogs. -

Of all the bars in whistler, I have never been to this one. Came here on friday night, fairly early, before 10. Had to pay cover which I totally hate. They were playing good music and this place got pretty popping as the nice went on. The dance floor is pretty small though I have to say.

Review from Vandana M.
I am torn between giving this place one or two stars. The second star is strictly for the fact that the service was really nice -- since we were with a bachelorette party and had made prior arrangements, we didn't have to wait in line and got our own table.
The funny thing about our experience at Maxx Fish was that we were told this was the place to go for the more "mature" crowd -- not quite Cougars, but not sorority girls, either. I guess I am getting old because everyone in here looked like they were 19. My friend even ran into one of her former students who graduated high school last year.
The music was ridiculous, and the drinks seemed weak (but they were cheap). The bathroom was so disgusting I can't even bear to relive the agony by describing it. We did see a gaggle of girls with their heads under the hand dryers, though, so that was entertaining at least.
Girls dancing on the bar, couples dry humping in the corners...not exactly the "scene" for 28-34-year-olds. The clincher was when a barely-legal guy wearing a "Girls Gone Wild Crew" shirt tried to make a play for one of my friends, who's married and has a child. Non-stop comedy!Comment from Maxx F. of Maxx Fish Lounge & Bar 3/11/2011

Whistler, BC
Love Maxx Fish!! This place played some great music and although it was small I went on a Saturday night and I could still move around and dance. Had a great vibe to it. Line was easy to get through and guy let me go in without waiting in the line. LOL sounds a bit like Vegas when they are nice to the girls. Fun place to party and great place to meet some fun people and have a great time. Plus...I met the man of my dreams here :p.

Review from joe b.
let's get one thing clear: I LOVE WHISTLER. there are a lot of other things i love and would like to share with everyone, but the people reading this need to know that joe b. from seattle is a man who loves whistler...
that said; the bar scene takes some getting used to. i don't think we're in capitol hill anymore toto. i was on vacation, so i was really hoping to find some cruisey gay bar. but turns out... WHISTLER HAS NO CRUISEY GAY BARS. i couldn't believe it either. okay, next best thing... how about a dirty karaoke bar? strike 2. alright, a dark whiskey bar full of hipsters, come on? no? ugh. fine, at least a bar that isn't playing 'loveshack?' SUCCESS!! MAXX FISH IT IS!!
expensive place, but that's expected. drinks aren't very strong, but i guess that BC is a one-shot-per-drink sort of place, so i won't hold it against them. but a word to the wise: drink beer. the crowd is young, well polished, and fun, BUT- there were packs of drunk 19 year old's running around- don't say i didn't warn you. the music was made in this decade, and all in all, it's worth checking out. and don't forget to prefunk in your hotel!Comment from Maxx F. of Maxx Fish Lounge & Bar 3/11/2011
