I first ventured into the British Home Store 6 years ago in its old location a block south. I had recently returned from a European adventure and was experiencing those back to reality blues. Thankfully I discovered this little gem.
I have been back a few times over the years and have had the exact same experience. Friendly talkative staff, great pies to eat there or take away, and just an all around good feeling of being in an UK shoppe on a Sunday afternoon.
Unfortunately I am now going to have to drive here more often as I am addicted to their Marks and Spencer fair trade tea. Makes you feel like royalty slurping this cuppa brilliance.
This is a classic local shop that is definitely supported by the community. Stop in for a visit, you won't be disappointed.

Great place to pick up real British Chocolate and candy, homemade meat pies, and pasties.
If you're a lover of British Tea, there is always a wide selection to choose from.

(Address is actually on Chatham Street now)

Cute little shop with friendly staff - nice selection of British goods just outside the really touristy part of Steveston.

My finds here have been Kit Kats!  On my trip to Japan earlier this year, I learned that there are a huge variety of Kit Kats out there, mostly unique to Japan, but some to other countries as well.  I was able to pick up the UK versions of the mint and orange Kit Kats here... a bit pricey, but the mint ones are to die for!

Marked down a star since a pack of the Kit Kats I bought was expired already - only realized it when I got home and was about to dig in.  I haven't gotten sick, but personally I think expired good should be pulled off the shelves rather than being sold at regular price.

It's like drinking Britain up from a teacup!

Sipping a spot of tea that tastes like every breakfast I can remember from the UK, and nibbling on a meat pie, I'm in the middle of high tea... in my living room. Darn, I wish I had splurged on biscuits and sweets like I had intended. Orange kit kats, pickled cabbage, Marks and Spencer teas, frozen fish pies; they're all on the grocery list for next time. And those pies have left no doubt, if the queen every pays me a visit, she will be impressed! Spot on! Cheerio!

Listed in: Dining In, Comfort Carbs, Stumbled-Upons...Suburban…, Import Me, Quay's and Wharfs Galore

One word:  Pasties.  A case full of delicious & widely varied flavor pasties and pies, rounded out with scotch eggs, sausages & bangers.  Get a fab steak & kidney pie for about $3.80!

An excellent selection of harder to find British food supplies & treats:  Monster Munch, Murray Mints, Arnott's, Golden Syrup, Gordon's Mustard & a bunch of their sauce mixes.  Tons of tea, of course & clotted cream.

You'll also find Golliwogs, Football supporter scarves/banners & some Royal paraphernalia.

The good ladies here are sweet, helpful, and call you "luv", if they like you.  Maybe not the biggest selection of British goods, but still - an excellent variety & again, I say - PASTIES!

Ummmm, I'm not convinced.  I took my mum to Steveston during her visit from Ottawa.  She's an ex-Brit so I thought this would be a fun outing.  I bought some very delicious toffees just like the ones my grandmother used to keep in the sitting room in London.  They were a good buy!  I bought some jelly cubes for fun (jello in England isn't powdered like here and they're more fun to eat 'as is' than make jello with them.  I also got pickled onions but could get those anywhere.  I saw the same Christmas Pudding (fit for the Queen btw) for $22 and I'd bought it for $19 at Meinhardt's.  I think Meinhardt's probably has quite a few things offered here without having to make the trip.  Still, there are some interesting items that are possibly hard to find.  The part that put me off was when I started chatting to Mary herself.  She started talking about going back to Birmingham and how much it's changed and looks like Baghdad.  I knew that it could only go downhill from there and the 'sweet' little lady who's had THREE heart attacks was about to take me out of my comfort zone and into a war zone of racism.  I think that as a shop owner you should stay out of that territory with your customers even if they are super chatty and friendly.  Just give me the 'Jolly Good' sentiment that I remember from when I little.  Ta ta for now!
