    A basket of delights!

Mary's Bread Basket is filled to the rim with wholesome, homemade offerings of both the nutritious and delicious variety. Those who have yet to venture this way MUST give the Cinnamon Roll a whirl. WHEWF... one cannot deny such utter decadence. (This calls for cap locks!)

Everything is made from scratch and goes the extra mile. Loaves of breads, sandwiches, baked goods and other treats make it hard to factor in a final decision... and will certainly justify an indulgence.

Its a one stop shop for guaranteed delight. One of the top spots for my own baked-good obsession... Mary's is always on my radar.

I'm not the first, and I certainly won't be the last, to extol the virtues of a cinnamon roll from Mary's. In fact, it's kind of cliché to rave about the warm, doughy, cinnamony goodness that is the Mary's cinnamon roll. They've probably won more 'best of' awards than they know what to do with.

But you know what? I don't care. I love these cinnamon rolls. I will go out of my way to get one. I will get in long line ups to have at one. The worst part about moving out of the South End means I have to work harder to get one. They are best served warm, fresh, and with coffee.

One thing I have noticed since the opening of the Seaport market: the insane line ups for cinnamon rolls are gone and you can even grab a place to sit and eat.

The breads are pretty good too and so is the Christmas fruit cake, but the cinnamon roll is where it's at.

I love all the homemade goodness at Mary's the cinnomen rolls, cheese biscuit...yum! Sometimes the cinnomen rolls have under backed centres or are odd shapes but they always taste the same.

Beyond the infamous cinnamon buns (which are enough for two!), Mary's Bread basket serves up plenty of delicious baked items. The cookies are great and in many a variety.

Lining up in the monster queue will actually be worth it: chances are the cinnamon buns will be coming out of the oven hot. Too hot to even add the icing! A perfect compliment to a Steve-O-Reno coffee.

I've never had anything but the cinnamon roll, because once you have one, why try anything else? You pass over a few bucks, and a warm roll is deposited in your mitt. I always think I'll just eat half and save the rest for another day, but I am powerless in its presence. Combine that with a stroll around either the Brewery market or the Seaport market, and you've just found heaven in Halifax.

Have you ever stood in the main portion of the Brewery Market place on a Saturday morning and wondered what on earth all those people were lining up for? Well, now you know! Mary's Bread Basket is an absolute staple of the Halifax Market. People line up for half an hour just in the hope of getting one of her loaves of bread, cinnamon buns or danishes.

Mary Mohammed's bakery has become so popular over the years that it's been retired in 'The Coast's' best of food hall of fame.

So next time you're at the market, be sure to get in line! The baked goods are worth your wait.

I have a confession to make:  I've dropped serious, serious cash at Mary's Bread Basket, mostly for cinnamon rolls that surpass any I've ever had.  With lineups that stretch to the back of the room, Mary's bakes it up and serves it out deliciously warm from the oven.

While cinnamon rolls are the big seller, they do a healthy business in loaves of bread, rolls and other baked goods.  The staff are run off their feet on a market morning, just trying to keep up with the influx of customers.  Although busy, they're always available to answer questions you might have about ingredients and such.

Go for the cinnamon rolls.  Come home with the bread.  Everyone's happy.

Well I now know why all those people are in line. This place has bread flying off the shelves.

We went for a Huge Hot Cinnamon Bun, this is a must. There was about four of us eating at it. It beats any other that I have had.

Judging fro the crowd and the amount of breads flying off the shelves, I know the breads are a five star as well.

So good. So fresh. So... zing! I'm giddy to the bone just thinking about gobbling down an entire cinnamon bun. What about a loaf of their soft bread or perhaps a croissant? It's all happening at this paradigm of popularity at the Halifax Farmer's Market.

The line always coils around the shop, while patrons wait eagerly for consistently delicious treats. It often gives me a sense of curious surprise when I realize just how patient people can be when something they really want is on the line.

These folks, like any solid bakers, are up before the sun churning butter and flour into gooey concoctions, perfect for nibbling or scarfing as you cruise your way through the crowds. I'd love for Mary's to use organic, higher quality ingredients, but oh well. I still recommend indulging in Mary's Bread Basket offerings whenever you can. Indeed, a scrumptious and delectable experience!
