This store is best described by my first visit, and the encounter I had with the man himself, Marty Millionaire.

it was a lazy Saturday afternoon, and i had always wanted to go in. they have nice stuff in the windows, albeit a bit cluttered and eclectic, and i just wanted to see it.
I'm wandering around, finding all sorts of wonderful things, like nautical themed desks, a life size centurion armor set, and a crystal seal coffee table, and just loving it.  Delightful gentlemen comes up to me and asks me how i am, in a boisterous and friendly way that really just needs to be experienced. turns out, its Marty, and he explains to to me how the place works.

I guess he started out in the film industry, buying, renting and selling prop furniture ( its starts to make sense) and still does this, the top few floors are not accessible and are storage for said furniture. he now buys container loads of furniture that would go to high end furniture stores, but have been damaged or rejected by the customer. he buys them sight unseen, and pays cash, and sometimes  it works, and sometimes its a bin full of broken dreams ( I am not making this up) So this is why the prices are so reasonable and everything is crazy.

He then says to me " This place, its a horrible place to shop, you gotta wander around and look at all this tacky crap. I mean, i guess it takes all kinds, but some of this stuff is hideous, you wouldn't put this in your house!!! but, this is what I want you do do" At this point he puts a hand on my shoulder " suffer through it, and come every weekend. and one day, one happy day, you'll find that hideous thing that only you can love, and we'll make you a great deal to get you to take it away"

Truthfully, most of the stuff is pretty nice, in fact some of it is down right gorgeous for the price. dont expect the high pressure sales of a chain furniture store, or really any help in your selections. the staff are funny, have great accents, and truly make this a experience. I havent been by every weekend, but i make a point to stop by. still looking for my piece, i suppose.

You know this place - it's the extraordinarily cluttered store at the corner of Queen and Parliament that has thousands of mismatched dining chairs stacked two floors high in the window.

Shopping here requires a lot of digging and navigating - obviously not wheelchair friendly as the aisles are barely wide enough to accommodate even the slimmest people. You'll have to climb over things, and if you have a camera you'd be wise to photograph things that you like so you can easily reference them to the owner (Marty) instead of describing them or pointing them out (nothing has a price tag). Haggling is encouraged.

I've never seen more dining chairs or kitchen tables in one place, although the store also stocks sofas, armoires, bookcases and stuff like that, all used or vintage. Formica, vinyl and teak figure high in the inventory. Come here armed with patience and you'll likely find what you're looking for and walk out with some sweet deals.

Free local delivery, and closed on Sundays.
