Review from Mike B.
Sunnyvale, CA
Stayed here recently for our anniversary. I was on crutches due to an injury. The young lady at the desk hooked us up with a room close to the elevators making it easier for me.
The rooms are great. Little villas basically. Enough shopping within walking distance to cook for yourself, In the heart of Heavenly Village, lots of things to do even if you don't ski/snowboard. Valet guys are fast and friendly. Always something going on in the lobby. Wine tasting, lemonade/iced too, hot cocoa, waffle stations.
Definitely the only place I will stay at in Tahoe. -

Has anyone else gotten a weird sense of vertigo or dizziness in the hallways? Or felt like the floor in the waiting area for the elevator was about to give way? Walking through the hotel was a trip - literally. Woooo next time I'll remember to bring Dramamine.
Hunter S. Thompson experience aside, the hotel is lovely. Rooms seem recently updated and are fairly spacious. Within walking distance of the casinos, but still on the California side so you don't have to worry about your room reeking of cigarette smoke. -

Orange County, CA
Great location- foot steps away from the gondola and walking distance to the shops and restaurants. We rented a car and only used it to drive to and from the airport but everything else was walking distance. I really liked that we were able to walk to the grocery store since we had a full kitchen in our 1-bedroom villa.
The staff was friendly. The front desk and valet were very accommodating. A little annoyed with the daily calls and voicemails to sit in on a timeshare meeting.
Although I didn't take advantage of this while I was there, I liked that they offered daily activities from wine tasting to arts and crafts. (Fee)
I loved their fitness center- all the cardio equipment had their own tvs, complimentary head phones and towels provided.
The pool and hot tubs were great after a long day of snowboarding.
Free wifi.
I'll definitely book here again the next time I'm back in South Lake Tahoe for some skiing and snowboarding. -

My boyfriend and I went here for the weekend with some friends. I have to say the property is really nice and it's in a great location...right on the strip next to all of the other big casinos (Harrahs, Harveys, etc.) and footsteps away from shopping. You can walk to any of the casinos and there is a CVS store adjacent to the hotel, super convenient for those late night munchies :-)
There were some cons to this place as well. First of all, the parking was a major rip-off. $30 per day...yep, that's per day so if you're thinking of spending more than one night, parking will definitely add up. Not to mention there are other hotels that don't charge for parking. Also be aware that the check-out time is 10AM. This was a rude awakening on Sunday when we were a little hung over from the night before and wanting to sleep in the next morning and then we had to rush to get packed up, dressed and out of the room by 10. Something to keep in mind.
The food options in the hotel were also very limited. There's one restaurant that doesn't accommodate everyone's taste...hibachi. If you don't like Japanese food, then you probably should look elsewhere for something to eat.
Overall, the hotel was nice and the room was comfortable. The price itself is a bit on the steep side, $200. Still, we would recommend you coming here just for the location. But if location doesn't really matter, you can easily find some other hotels that are on the cheaper side. -

Great place to stay when you are visiting South Lake Tahoe if you want to snowboard/ski or see the snow! The greatest part is that it is in the middle of everything--food, shops and the Heavenly Gondola to take you up the snow! You can walk around to a lot of restaurants, shops, even the movie theater!
The rooms are nice and service is great. Front desk and the concierge are always accommodating. I love that it comes with a kitchen, stocked with all the pots and pans you need. You can even bake or use the tupperware. Raleys is in the next plaza. There are many things to do around the area for the family or couples who want to get away. For families who have kids, walk down to the casinos for the arcades! Harrahs had the best arcade.
Sidenote: The Wifi is pretty crappy sometimes. Some days it is okay but some days it doesn't work at all but, its vacation, so who needs internet! -

Checked in on a Friday evening for seven nights. I scored BC I traded my Desert Springs Marriott (Palm Desert CA) lock out unit and received a two bedroom at Timber lodge. The unit also included a full kitchen, living room, dinning area, jacuzzi tub and two bathrooms. The location is awesome due to that you're steps away from Harrah's and the Nevada Stateline. In addition, your within steps of heavenly mountain ski lifts, many retail shops, restaurants and a Raley's grocery store.
The valet parking service here is awesome which included in and out privileges, unfortunately for non Marriott owners or guests the fee is $24.00 daily. The property has a heated pool, restaurant, planned daily activities and a complete fitness center. If you're interested in taking a excursion many of the tours provide shuttle service within steps of of Timber Lodge and will save you the hassle of driving and parking fees.
The staff at Timber Lodge was friendly & helpful at the lobby and concierge desk. I would definitely recommend staying here and I'll return here next time I'm back in Lake Tahoe. -
Review from Jen J.
I have mixed feelings about this hotel. However, at promotional rate of $101 a night (pre-tax), this is a great choice for vacationers and business-goers. Most amenities are standard for a Marriott hotel, clean and comfortable beds, flat screen TV, thick curtains, well-maintained property, but my room on the fifth floor is possibly the smallest room I have ever stayed at in a Marriott property.
The things I really liked:
- The pool: outdoors but it's big, heated, and clean! There are four small whirlpools on the side which I loved as most likely you won't have to share a hot tub with strangers and have to stare awkwardly away from their faces...
- Friendly service: Everyone from the valet to the front desk is super friendly and helpful.
- HUGE fitness center: it is one of the biggest fitness centers I have ever seen at a hotel (albeit this is a vacation home sort of property). Even though I didn't use it (lazy), I was impressed.
Things I didn't care for:
- Mandatory valet: yes I know it's South Lake Tahoe, but really? $24 Mandatory valet? Is that really necessary? At least they pay their valet minimal wage (I asked as I was curious). Still, the valet + tip amounted to a significant increase to the daily rate.
- Lack of breakfast options: I'm not looking for free breakfast as i know only the Springhill Suites and Residence Inns in the Marriott family have complimentary meals for sure. However, I was disappointed by having to walk to the nearby strip mall for breakfast. Even though the walk is short, this is pretty inconvenient when I'm already on a time crunch.
Overall, this is a great place to stay if you are ok with the mandatory valet. -

The Timberlodge is a great place to stay when you are in South Lake Tahoe. There is so much to do within walking distance, you will never need to use your car. :)
Heavenly Ski/Board resort is located within the hotel. You can step out the hotel doors and literally step right onto the gondola going up to Heavenly. If you don't want to ski/board for the day, you can take the gondola up and have lunch at the top of the mountain, go ice skating, or just hang around for the day.
The hotel is very clean, the staff is very friendly and helpful with fun activities to do while you are not skiing/boarding. The rooms are extremely clean, there are 3 pools and hot tubs everywhere! 5 hot tubs for just one pool!! :) Guaranteed to stay warm.
Make sure you hit up Fire and Ice located in the downstairs section of the hotel. My favorite place to eat in Tahoe.
Also, make sure you go to Stateline Brewery, which is right next to the hotel. Really fun brewery, great atmosphere, family or friends. -

I LOVED the villa we stayed in! I loved how there was a washer/dryer in the room and our master suite had a jetted tub... The villas were really nice and clean and I couldn't have asked for a better location!
The shops at Heavenly were nice and you can even go to the movies there. There is a Raley's that takes about 5 minutes to get to, which is so convenient!
The Gondolas are literally right outside, which makes this super convenient. At check in, they give you a ticket for their private beach and you can go relax at the Lake. Everything you can imagine is within walking distance and if you want to gamble, Harrah's is a short 5 minute walk as well.
One thing I would do is park at harrah's and walk over. They charge about $25/day for valet, and we never drove anywhere since everything was in walking distance. This is the most awesome place to stay in SLT! -
Review from Matty K.
I was so excited to stay in this prime location. We were up in Tahoe for a wedding and paid a little more to get a good location, hoping it would be worth it. So, was it worth it?
Location: Prime, truly walking distance to everywhere you want to be and a short drive to the golf course the wedding was held at.
Ambience: A lot of families stayed here, so definitely not a little romantic getaway. The rooms were dim and comfortable. Unfortunately we never got to use the pool or the private beach while we were here. Walls are fairly thin.
Staff: Most were very friendly, especially the valet guys and bell guys. I had a huge problem trying to check in. Apparently, if your bf makes the reservation, you will not be able to check in without him. At first I was told pretty much tough luck, come back when he's with you. Then after interrupting his golf game twice, we came up with a confirmation number which a different guy said would be okay. After a long day of getting up early and running around in the sun and altitude, I was extremely frustrated. Also, one time it took me over 30 minutes after phoning down to get my car, cutting it close to get to the wedding.
Room: Super comfortable bed. But why was there hair both on the bed and under the comforter? Did the staff even wash the sheets? Or just smooth them down? In addition to our super comfortable pillows and sheets, there was a rip in the middle of the sheet. Not that I really care, but the price paid for the room would lead me to believe that the staff would make a bed with unripped sheets. The shower head has three settings: piercing needles of water, a massage mode that pelts water bullets at your skin, and a mode where it trickles out in random directions.
Overall: Unfortunately the hotel doesn't really need to care about their customers because the alternative is a crappy Days Inn down the street 1/2 a mile away from everything. Or Embassy Suites which is even more expensive for a crappier bed and shower. So take your pick. I'm unimpressed, but I certainly didn't feel like they cared enough to try to impress me. -

Just got off the plane from Reno! Stayed at the Marriott July 3-8th.
First off, the Marriott has the BEST location in SLT. Right next to the gondola, shops, casinos & bars. About a 10-15 minute walk to the beach.
Check-in was easy. The lobby was nice & the staff was very helpful. We went to our room shortly after (we were in the Alpine Building) and were pleasantly surprised; it was HUGE! Full kitchen, washer/dryer, dining area, living room - in the adjacent room there was the bedroom, soaking tub and bathroom. We were on the top floor (6th) with a view of the pool and mountains.
Biggest pros:
The pool. It was the biggest/nicest pool we saw in the area. Lots of chairs, a kiddy pool & 4 hot tubs. We noticed the pool was pretty dead from 8a-12p; besides the stage parents coaching their young children on swimming. That was okay with us, though, because it provided a lot of entertainment (almost as good as Toddlers & Tiaras!).
The location. A block away from Harrah's/Harvey's. Valet at the Marriott is $24/day. Parking in Harvey's lot is FREE. We did valet on the first day but parked at Harvey's the rest of the week. Definitely worth it!
The rooms. Having a washer/dryer in the room was a huge bonus! Also, FREE WIFI!!!
Now, my only 2 VERY MINOR complaints:
First complaint: I wish there was a logo shop in the hotel! It would have been nice to get a hat or golf polo for my husband or parents. Since we were surrounded by shops, it was okay - I've just never been to a Marriott that didn't have one.
Second complaint: Elevators. By far the slowest elevators I've ever experienced. If you are able-bodied, take the stairs. Since we were on the top floor, we took the stairs going down every time since I ran out of patience after the 2nd day of waiting.
If we ever return to SLT, we will stay here without a doubt!Listed in: Lake Tahoe Trip

Really enjoyed our week stay here... We had a 2 bed room and 2 bath through an interval getaway.... We brought a group of our friends up for the holiday weekend.
The staff at the front desk was great.. They let us check in early. We were able to valet one of our cars for free. They have free wireless which worked great in the room.
The 2 bedroom can easily sleep 8 and possibly 9 to 10 with a blow up bed... The kitchen was average but served out purposes....
The pool area and gym are both solid.
The location is perfect.. Walking distance to the ski lifts, Starbucks, Raleys, the casinos...
The only issue I had was ............ nothing... I can't complain.....
We will go back... -

I LOVE THIS HOTEL.
I always come here with a big group of friends and family and I still give this place 5 stars even though I NEVER get to sleep in one of their dreamy beds. (I usually get stuck on a couch or pull-out sofa bed)
It's within walking distance to the casinos, the grocery store, a bunch of unique boutiques, ski shops, restaurants, bars. It's nice getting to be all cozy and shacked up in a cabin but it's even better to have things to do at night without having to drive.
The rooms are spacious. We've always gotten a 2-bedroom suite. The first room has one queen bed, one pull-out sofa, a mini-kitchenette and a bathroom. A door connects to the living room, which has a dining table for 6, a large kitchen, and either a pull-out sofa bed or L-shaped couch. The other bedroom has a queen sized bed, bathroom, and hot tub.
The gym has plenty of equipment and a weight room. The bathroom has a super-fast working sauna, showers, and lockers. The outdoor pool is heated to a very comfortable temperature and it's long enough for some laps; I have a low tolerance for cold weather but I LOVED the pool's temperature, as well as 4 or 5 jacuzzis (I forgot). Lots of people like to gather at the jacuzzis in the late afternoon with drinks. Come around 4-6 pm, or even later, if you don't mind the crowds for a chance at free booze from friendly drunks. Come at 1-3pm if you like your space (that's me!)
There's a daycare, a reflection room for yoga and stuff, another room with tv's and foosball...there's also a daily newsletter posted around that lists all the activities available at the lodge. My mom took a complimentary pilates class, for example. They've got other classes like Boot Camp Training, craft-making for the kiddies, and other classes that require a small fee and rsvp like snow shoe hiking.
The gondola for Heavenly is right outside the door from the lobby and there's a complimentary ski/snowboard locker room with an attendant nearby (tip the attendant please!). On the other side of the lobby is the bus that will take you to the Nevada side of Heavenly. Oh valet parking is the only parking available, which is the only downside.
Yes, this place is great. -

This is a great place to stay here in Lake Tahoe. The Casinos are within walking distance. The Shops are just nearby. Valet attendants and room attendants are so helpful and will answer all you questions. If they can't answer it they will call somebody who can.
The Room is very spacious we have this
One bedroom, more than enough for us, and the kitchen is has everything on it. The Gym is complete and the rooms are super clean.
My overall experience is great. -

I am a fan of most Marriott's I own in Maui. I got a pretty good deal on a one bedroom Friday and Sat night for 120 a night using my owners discount. Love fireplace and tub in my room. Great locations. Didn't get a chance to try out fire and ice. Many retails shops near by. Walk to Casino's. Great getaway.

South San Francisco, CA
We stayed here for my birthday weekend. We reserved 2 1-bedroom suites and 1 2-bedroom suite. We had a blast! In Tahoe, it is about location and this is by far the best location I've stayed at. Heavenly was right outside our doors, I mean literally, the gondola was a few steps away, not to mention restaurants, shops, and rental places. There's a Safeway about a mile (maybe less) away and the Tahoe strip is walking distance. We were able to walk to Harrah's a few times during our stay for their buffet and to gamble.
The rooms are spacious and clean. Our room was as big as a normal size one bedroom apartment with a full kitchen that was stocked with appliances, cookware and dishes. The living room was comfortable with a fold out sofa if needed, a fire place, flat screen and a dvd player. I was shocked at the channels we got including HBO. The bedroom was my favorite because in between the bedroom and our bathroom, there was a full size jacuzzi that seats 2 very comfortably. There were also double sinks and a separate shower, which we found very convenient. There is also a closet with a full size washer/dryer and all the soaps/detergents were provided. We received Marriott service with comfy home-like accomodations. We love the Marriott beds and were not disappointed.
Service was also great and concierge was very helpful. One thing we wanted that they didn't provide was room service. I guess because this is a timeshare hotel, they didn't have that. It wasn't too big of a deal because we just went downstairs to eat.
I would highly recommend this place to anyone that is looking for a comfortable place in Tahoe. -

San Francisco, CA
Excellent customer service- from the front desk that was very friendly and helpful during check-in to Ron from Loss Prevention just walking by and starting a little chitchat to see how my stay was going.
Valet is $24 a day, self serve parking is not available. The hotel was at 100% occupancy and we were advised to call in about 5-10 mins before we needed the car and we never had a problem with valet.
Most importantly, the room was quite impressive. Kitchen, washer, dryer, jacuzzi bath tub, living room, dining room and the master room- ALL CLEAN.
Located just a block away from Harvey's and Harrahs, and plenty of shops and restaurants within walking distance- very convenient! -

I absolutely love this hotel. As soon as we checked in we were offered cookies! Too bad I was too full from lunch to even want to look at them. LOL. The location is in a prime spot, right where the Heavenly Gondola rides are and tons of great shops within walking distance. It was kind of strange that their swimming pools were shallow but I loved that they had three jacuzzis. They offer classes every day which are advertised in their elevators and in the mornings you get messages about the activities. My only complaint is that they have the most pitiful little food shop in their lobby. I didn't even bother going there because it was so tiny, most people just ended up grocery shopping at Raley's across the street. From now on when I'm in South Tahoe we're staying at this hotel.

My wife and I spent a great weekend here. Great king room with a view of the mountains, full kitchen, two tv's, and a huge bathroom. There's a Raley's within walking distance, and if you don't want to pay for valet parking, you can park in the casino lot about a hundred yards away.
Rooms can be pricey, but they often run off-season or mid-week specials. Besides with a full kitchen, you can save a lot of money eating in.
The staff was friendly, the room was immaculate, and no one even mentioned buying a timeshare. We'll be back! -

Hubby and I stayed here on the last weekend of snowboarding season. This is without a doubt the place to stay if you like to be right in the mix of things. Room was nice with a mini kitchen and sofa - basically what I expect of a Marriott so it's really truly all about the location here. Gondola is literally right out the door along with shops, restaurants, movie theater, ice skating rink, casino, and a Raley's. Gawd, what more could a girl ask for? !
Minus one star for the crazy $22 charge for overnight parking. Please Marriott, you are not the city - you must refrain from inhaling all that powder, it's making you delusional! Until then, we will park in the adjacent casino...thank you! -

I am checking out today... so this is fresh!
No time share pressure.
Very friendly staff.
Great WiFi.
Good showers.
Good bedding.
Other amenities including the hot tubs, fitness center, pools, etc are all very nice here.
I would definitely stay here again... the location is hard to beat... all you need is within a mile, or even right in the village itself.
The only gotcha is the $24 nightly parking fee... which seems to be standard in SLT... but there is not charge if you are stay on your ownership week. : ) -

My daughter and I are staying here this week for our annual mommy/daughter vacation.
We came here last year too.
This is a terrific spot to stay while in South Lake Tahoe. For a family, it is great because you get a fully stocked kitchen and all of the amenities.
Since we have a timeshare in Colorado, we trade for this one. It is one of the best to stay at in Tahoe. A lot of the other ones are so dated that they really are not very nice. The Marriott is beautiful and the location is terrific.
And when you have a three year old with you it is nice to be near all of the things that make a kid happy ... Coldstone Creamery, the movie theater, snow, the gondola and Wolfgang Puck's pizza.
And it is fun to swim in the pool.
My daughter thinks life does not get better than this. ^..^Listed in: Where to go in Tahoe.

Absolutely gorgeous hotel in Heavenly! We got a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom suite this past weekend for a little over $200 - apparently quite a deal since this hotel/time share runs $700-800 a night during ski season.
The suite was unbelievable. We had a fireplace, dining room, full kitchen, a master bathroom with a jacuzzi tub, and several plasma screen televisions. Oh yes, and a washer and dryer with tide to keep our ski clothes clean!
The resort's location is key if you want to ski or gamble at Harrah's or Harvey's. You also have several Starbuck's and grocery stores within walking distance of the resort. Prime location for people who don't want to walk too far in the cold.
Impeccably clean rooms and professional staff. My only complaint is that the resort lacks room service! -
Review from Susan S.
The Timber Lodge Marriott is an oasis of respectability on a strip of cheap ski motels and casinos. It sits almost right on the border between California and Nevada. Walk to the left, and you get sports shops, liquor stores, and motels; walk to the right, and you meet with casinos and cheap breakfasts.
We stayed at Timber Lodge--which is right at the foot of Heavenly--during the off-season. The location is perfect during the winter. Off-season, unless you like to gamble (which I don't), South Lake Tahoe isn't the best area in Tahoe to visit. We did, however, get a really good deal on the room. The hotel is really nice; they seem to have all sorts of great activities and amenities that we didn't take advantage of. The room was clean and attractive. The beds, as other people have mentioned, were ridiculously comfortable.
The beds were so comfortable that it seemed impossible to make the 10 am checkout time--that seems really early for checkout to me, but I guess Timber Lodge operates on skiiers' time. We asked the night before for late checkout, but they said they offered only limited "first-come, first-serve" late checkouts starting at 7am. So, we set the alarm for 7 am and called the front desk and then were allowed to check out at 11. That's kind of a strange process, but, at the same time, they were very accommodating when we arrived early for check-in.
One slight negative is parking. You can pay $20 for valet parking or park for free at Harrah's a block or so away. The Marriott actually tells people upfront about the free option, which I appreciate. -

I usually go to Tahoe in the winter, and I usually stay/ski on the North shore, but when an opportunity came up for a free, all-expense paid* weekend at the Marriott in South Lake Tahoe, who was I to say no? (* and by "free" I mean my sister was staying there with her family and invited me up, and I happily mooched off them).
The location couldn't be better if you like convenience and being close to everything. The Heavenly gondola really is "steps away" (to quote the brochure), you're surrounded by shops and restaurants, and Harrah's is right next door. The pool is large with plenty of lounge chairs for all (but it's about 4' at its deepest - I like a deeper pool). If you're with kiddies, there's lots to keep them entertained - there's a play room and little activities like face painting and free ice cream. All the hotel employees seemed nice. I just wish they had more convenient self-parking options -- I don't like to pay extra for valet.
The room (alas, we didn't have a suite) itself was fine - comfortable and clean, but pretty much your average hotel room plus a tiny kitchen area. But again, the location can't be beat.
As nice as Tahoe is in the summer, I left hoping for a good ski season this year. Pray for snow!!! -

I just stayed there for a weekend of fun for a bachelorette party and it was great. This hotel is filled with everything you may possibly need and more. It is also in a prime location, near a ton of shops, bars, clubs and casino's. They have a huge adult pool, one kiddy pool and THREE Jacuzzi's and a daycare for the kids. The hotel itself was made up of three large buildings, not including one that was under construction and the service was excellent. We never had to worry about parking or lugging bags, due to great bell hops and room service was 5*'s.
The best part was definitely the location. Just out side our room, about a stones throws away, there were at least twenty shops, boutiques and several restaurants. There was even a Cold Stone's; that got a little dangerous for all us girls. Also, there was a movie theater in very close proximity; definitely in walking distance and that was nice for those of us that didn't want to lay by the pool all day. And I was also pleased to find a grocery store with a pharmacy right across the street. It was all very convenient.
The room we had was also excellent. We stayed in a two bedroom sweet and it had a fully loaded kitchen. I loved that there was not one thing missing from that kitchen. They had thought of everything, including Tupperware! We even had our own washer and dryer. And to top it all off, it was fairly affordable. Tahoe is beautiful and a ton of fun. It is a great place to get away, especially for people living in and around the Bay Area. -

There are two listings for this property on YELP, I used the one with the most reviews. I am a Marriott Gold Elite Member so I spend 50+ rooms a year in Marriott properties. I basically rate them as consistent and overall great places with a 3-4 star rating. I thought this property deserved a rare 5 star rating.
You can get caught up in the location, especially since this one is Lake Tahoe. So step away and objectively look at what we have here.
1. Beautiful accommodations, really nice rooms.
2. Unbelievably comfortable bed.
3. In house movie rental
4. Close to many good restaurants
5. Laundry facility (free)
6. 4 hot tubs
7. Nice pool
8. Excellent workout facility (big with free weights)
9. Amenities for kids, movie, miniature golf, etc
10. Lots of cool shops
11. Close to nice beaches (free beach pass)
12. Close (3 blocks) from the Casinos
13. Well trained, helpful staff
14. Very clean throughout
15. Microwave, frig, toaster and coffee maker in the room so you can reduce breakfast costs
16. Major Supermarket 3 blocks away for stocking your room
17. Room temperature control that works well
18. Seems like nice people stay here, they were all talking to me
Yes, its expensive. But if you are skiing or doing the summer gig in Lake Tahoe, this is an amazing self contained property. Excellent price/value relationship.
If you are visiting the area there are other great hotels and motels. You need to focus on what you are looking for and which amenities work for your particular vacation goals. There are many less costly alternatives with fewer amenities. -

We stayed here last year during New Years. It's like a mini apartment with kitchen, living rooms, and bedrooms. It is really clean and cozy.
Its cool because there is an ice skating rink downstairs and a bunch of good restaurants. Plus the Entrance to Heavenly's gondola is down stairs. Its also a 10 minute walk to the cosinos. To my suprise it was Crackin on new years. Timber Lodge is a must!!! -

Stayed here in January over MLK weekend. Due to the holiday weekend, didn't get the choice location, so our room was on the first floor, with a view of the valet parking area.
The housekeeping people were basically absent during our stay. The hotel room was not luxe, but definitely adequate for our needs. The sofabed was a good place to throw all our ski gear. The staffpeople were nice.
The location of this hotel is AMAZING. Lots of things within walking distance. It is just too bad that on the day we chose to ski, it was too windy, so the gondola lift (the prime selling point of this hotel to skiers) was closed. The shuttle buses were waiting to take us to the lodge though, and that worked out pretty well too. -

San Francisco, CA
I am generally easy to please, but this place was extremely disappointing. I'm not sure how they can get away with calling themselves a 4-star resort.
Our room was depressing, dark and uncomfortable. The towels were dingy and had lipstick stains on them, and even the bed was sloppily made. Overall, the hotel was simply an unpleasant place to be. Also, the 10:00 check out time is really unjustifiable at an ostensibly "nice" hotel. To make things worse, they only give you one day's worth of coffee for your entire stay (how cheap is that?), so setting the alarm for 9:00 in order to get out before they charge you another day is all the more painful.
It wasn't all bad - the staff was nice enough and the pool area was fine. Apparently it is a nice place to go if you have a herd of kids, as everybody else seemed to. In the winter, its immediate proximity to Heavenly would be another plus.
Overall, this place is absolutely not worth the money. Unless you absolutely need an outdoor pool, save yourself some cash and get the same quality room at one of the many cheap motels within a half mile. They probably won't even kick you out at ten in the morning. -

Great location in the heart of things in Tahoe, with the mountain gondola right outside your hotel. Prices were reasonable, rooms were clean, and the pool area wasn't bad either. The convenience, though, is the most attractive feature.
Valet parking was quite a pain. They advertise to call down in advance but they either never answer the phone or never have the car ready when you arrive. They also walk around your car and go crazy mad about trying to find scratches or dents so they can claim they are not at fault. Watch them do it as they waive their hand at the camera wherever they see a dent when circumambulating the cars. -

We took our lil Wasabi there for a one day break with the family and were very satisfied with this resort. Although, during high season, the prices can get kinda outrageous, try to find a deal towards the end of summer the week before.
The one bedroom suites were huge, over 700 square feet with two TV's and DVD players, kitchen had everything, nice dining area, and even a washer/dryer! Jacuzzi Bath and Shower completed what felt like a one bedroom condo.
Great location on the Lake, 2 minute drive to the Recreation Park. The Timber Lodge is situated right near Harrah's, Harvey's for the gambler with plenty of shopping all around. There's also a great BBQ place right across the street, Womack's.
This is definitely one of the nicest places I've stayed in Tahoe. Even though it costs a bit of change, take the Gondola ride to the top, the views of the Lake are amazing from up there. -

10am checkout, you suck.
No late check out, you suck more.
Your beds aren't even comfy.
So much for having a hotel to sleep. I thought the whole point of paying for a hotel was to have a place to sleep. Marriott does not believe in this.
$22 parking fee, daily, also sucks.
Blackout curtains don't blackout.
Front desk service is non-existent.
Won't be staying here again!!!!!!!! EVER -
Review from Jamie L.
Me and seven other of my friends came to SLT for one of our friend's birthdays. The valet service was very efficient and you can tell the guys work very hard (the look on their faces was obvious). The lobby was the picture of ski lodge with huge comfy seats and a fireplace. Water with lemon was available for the guests and visitors, and every desk and area had a label.
The rooms left me speechless. We booked two rooms that connected. The main suite had two master bedrooms, two baths, kitchen, dining room, living room, and (fake) fireplace. The beds were heaven for me because I sleep on a dinky Ikea mattress at home. The pillows were perfection and the blankets were so soft and warm. I just the love the convenience of having an apartment feeling hotel room.
If I had the money I would love to stay here again for another weekend getaway....too bad the town is kind of boring.Listed in: Travel Adventures

What an awesome place! The building looks like a large log cabin and is just stunning. We stayed here in a 1 bedroom villa with a lock-off which is an attached hotel room with a bathroom and kitchenette. The main villa had a full kitchen, washer/dryer, large TV, fireplace and a beautiful master suite with a large bathroom and jacuzzi. Outside your villa is a heated pool and 2-3 hot tubs that melt the tension of the day away.
There is also nice shops, restaurants (skip Fire + Ice though), a movie theater, Cold Stone Creamery, etc. There is also an ice skating arena during the winter and gondola rides. There is also kids activities going on in a room off the lobby which includes movie time, crafts and other supervised activities. It is also within walking distance from Raley's and the casinos.
Very nice place, can't wait to go back again. -

It's a Marriott, it's going to be good, but the rooms feel like any other Marriott. If you're staying in South Lake Tahoe with family, this is probably a pretty good choice, especially during ski season. If you're a couple and here for the gambling - stay at one of the casinos. I got my room for free... a family member had to cancel at the last minute. Free is nice, but would I pay to stay here - probably not. There are so many lodging options in the Tahoe basin, so many places where you get the Tahoe feel that this place is noticeably lacking. Like I said, for families, probably a good option if you don't want to get a house. For skiers, the gondola is right out the back door. Lots of shopping nearby too. It's pretty spending and parking is $$ too.
