Review from Jen O.
I was picturing a tiny convenience store so was happy to have found a pretty full supermarket. The aisles are narrow and the place is crowded but IGA has a good selection of everything.
We bought some already seasoned lamb, beef and chicken skewers for our grill in our condo and they were tasty (beef was a little dry though).
Prices didn't seem unreasonable considering that we were in a ski resort area (I was expecting more). -

Okay - you already know that you're going to pay through the nose for most everything at Whistler. I won't go on about that.
However, if you're up here for a celebration...and there's a strong chance you could be....don't bother going to this store for the bakery. The couple of times I endured the bakery here, the stoners working the counter were not just clueless, but somewhat hostile.
Did you know it can take 3 days for them to write "Happy Birthday" on a cake? No wonder it's so expensive! snort.
If you need a celebration cake, Dairy Queen -while not fancy - will get your cake ready in less than 24 hours if needed. -

I hate the fact that the US economy sucks and the US dollar has lost so much ground to the Canadian dollar. But still the sticker shock in this place makes me sick.
YES, I know it's basically 1 of 2 offerings IN Whistler for shopping groceries, but $30 bucks on "Canadian" candy, jeebus, give me a break!
I will say the store is well stocked, but damn those prices will keep me away in the future! -

Sooo expensive, layout is very counterintuitive. Not much else to choose from, though. Wish there was a super walmart in town!!

Decided to stock up on some basics for a weekend up in whistler. I was really happy to come across several gluten free snack/food options! From crackers to granola bars and even gluten-free mini cheesecakes -- it was nice to see them catering to a growing crowd.
Bought their deli chicken stew and it was really good! A little heavy on the salt but could have easily been thinned out with some hot water.
The fresh, hot broccoli-cheese soup in the deli was also delicious too!
All the basics can be found at this location, which is good since it is not always pleasant hunting for different products in different shops when it is cold outside!
The prices are average for an IGA. The people are always friendly, and I have never encountered a "super busy" time at the market (luck, I guess!) -

For my first trip to Whistler, we rented a condo with full kitchen, and hoped to prepare our own meals rather than eat out the whole time. Preparing for that, I feared the dreaded Resort Grocery shop, which typically is tiny, with greatly limited selection, and astronomical prices. To my delight, the Marketplace IGA was none of that, but more of a regular grocery store I would find at home!
First, it's a normal sized grocery store, with a normal/ample produce section, normal/ample bakery and meats section, and the usual normal/ample grocery aisles. We found everything we needed and then some - snacks, the makings for a hearty breakfast, coffee and hot chocolate, even epsom salt for end of day soaking. The prices were comparable to the stores at home, so with all the other complaints about IGA prices, I'm wondering if maybe I'm paying far too much for my own regular groceries!
Parking was a breeze, too, being right in the Marketplace lot. The layout is a little funky, with some end aisle slanting off to the side. The cashier was perfectly friendly and chatty, though the other employees stocking the shelves ignored everyone.
I'm super happy at what I found at Marketplace IGA, and would gladly go here again. Makes the idea of vacationing here a little easier. -

Coming from Texas, things in Canada are just pricier in general. It was actually a shock that cereal was not 1.99. And taxes are 12%. And there are recycling fees and such for each bottle/glass/can you buy. I guess to promote recycling, the extra .25 markets charge you you'll get back if you recycle or however they do it. There really should be an instructions on the back of the receipt. We already threw away 4 days worth of empty bottles. -_- That is like $3!
Anyway, we bought groceries in Squamish. Just comparing on some basic items it didn't seem like a big difference on prices. Marketplace IGA seems like a moderate sized Central Market - they have a deli, sandwiches, ready-to-eat foods, choice of steaks and seafood, etc.
Reasonable for its regional location. I guess. -

I hate this store with a passion for one reason: the layout.
I dare anyone w/o a beaconing system, a GPS and about 1500 ft of rope to go in there to shop and get out within 10 minutes.
It's exponentially worse with a group of people. You will instantly be separated and spend your entire evening looking for each other in the aisles. Fun.
However, they have food here, so you could always bunker down with some Cherrios and wait to be rescued. -

This place is very busy...
I picked up some cool Whistler postcards here for .59 and .80 last week while visiting, they have a good variety of souvenirs in the front of the store. Didn't pick up any food from here, but they have alot to choose from... this is probably the biggiest store for grocery selection.
Stop by here for grocerys or souvenirs/gifts. -

My first visit to Whistler for a week's stay. I qualify my '2' based upon the following starting with a '5' and working down:
5: Very convenient to the entire Whistler Village area with ample free parking and a myriad of other shops within walking distance: post office, museum, McD, sushi to go, etc etc.
4: Check out is swift; this market literally has everything (EVERYTHING) you would want to stock up your condo or hotel kitcen - nice produce, poultry, picnic needs, bathroom needs, beer/wine/juices, sundries.
3: Shopping carts cost 25 cents CDN. If you only have USD coins, you're screwed. Free plastic baskets are provided, however.
2: Prices are HIGH! Well, compared to where I come from: $4 to $5 for a box of Cheerios or Wheaties: WTF? $3.50 for a quart of OJ? Cottage cheese : $ 3.89 a pint? HOLY @3%!
1: Beware of the crowds: frankly, very little consideration by other shoppers to be courteous - move out of the way MF!
I just didn't appreciate the experience but, again, IGA has everything! An honest one-stop-shop! -

Big market. Big crowds.
Don't come here late at night on the weekends because they run out of everything. During the day it was a total rush of people weaving through the aisle in search of orange juice and granola bars. Are people helpful and know what they're doing, eeeh. If you know what you want and what you want is a lot of food then this is where you go. -

The fact of the matter is that there isn't much choice.
I live in Whistler and your options are as follow.
The Grocery Store
Marketplace IGA
Nesters
Creekside
These are your one stop shops. They are all INSANELY expensive. As a local most of us try to drive 45 minutes down the road to Squamish where we can spend $220 instead of $400. (Yes it really is THAT bad), but nevertheless, the IGA does have everything you need. It's the biggest, the produce is a 7 out of 10, there deli lunches are great.
I used to go eat lunch there for under $10. That's not so shabby. -

I begrudgingly went to IGA much more often than I would have liked. The layout doesn't make any sense whatsoever, the produce is hit-or-miss, the people working there could care less about you and the prices were really high for the things you wanted. I say the things you wanted as Kraft Dinner always seemed to be on sale.
The deli section is this place's only saving grace. I'm guessing they get their stuff from some major distributor as the Creekside Market had the same stuff. Regardless, it was fairly inexpensive and an easy fix to those days you just didn't feel like cooking.Listed in: Whistler Eats, Shop Whistler

I'm not going to comment on the price because everybody over-charges in Whistler, including this place.
The store in laid out very unusually. The store is in two sections, the front and back. The aisles of the two sections are on a 45 degree angel to each other.
If it's your first visit, you'll probably get lost. -

Tim O. nailed this review. Just the two of us were hanging on for dear life as the current of people rushed through this place. Still, being in a resort town and being able to get a X-mas ham, stuffing and all the trimmings is damn cool. Produce was also decent for being a 3 hour truck drive in the middle of winter to get to you.

I had a fever when I was staying @ Whistler and I sent my friends to buy loads of coconut water and watermelon for me. I was not expecting them to find those items at 10pm Sunday anywhere in Whistler but they returned with everything I asked for- horray and the coconut water was the awesome all natural brand as well. The next day I recovered and went to buy more coconut water- yes it's pricey but just what a reasonable person would expect from a rather secluded location. I was happy that I could get what I wanted, when I wanted. Thank you IGA.

It has the best section and is best place to grocery shop in Whistler.. Hence its super busy any time of the day. They have a cool selection of frozen foods, an excellent butcher and seafood dept. The produce is fresh for the most part... In Whistler your choices are limited to two and in the city I stay far away from IGA, but this store has it together considering all factors.
