This place is pretty open in contrast to Pacific Mall next to it. There is a chinese grocery store in it where you can pick a vast variety of asian food. I bought some Pocari Sweat here.
There is also a food court, general store, and a bunch of other things I just can't remember inside. Definitely check it out if you are in the neighbourhood. -

Hell YEA! Finally Yelp for Cananda!!
This is one of the mall we've been to after driving 9 hours from Columbus, Ohio. It's located next to the Pacific Mall. There's a lot of parking spaces. The outside of this mall looks like a block of old-fashioned row houses. However, the interior is similar to typical western style mall. It's clean, but a little dim.
Once inside, you'll see 99% Chinese shopping around. Yes, most of them speak Cantonese because they're mostly from Canton or Hong Kong. So... screw you all Mandarin speaking people =P -

I have been going to Market Village for ages! I am talking about over 15 years!
I prefer Market Village over Pacific Mall because I like the layout of the Mall a lot more. There are tons of skylights and the inside is not as crowded! There are not as many shops as Pacific Mall.. however I enjoy eating at Sam's Congee Delight (http://www.yelp.ca/biz...), picking up dessert at Yan Woo (http://www.yelp.ca/biz...) and do my grocery shopping.
When I arrive early Sunday afternoon, I never have problem in finding parking spots. Though I will avoid coming here during Statutory holidays when all the other malls are closed! This place can be a ZOO!! Why people have to go walking around a mall during holidays??
BTW, Market Village will be torn down really soon.... and be replaced by a Mega Chinese Mall!Listed in: Market Village! What's in…

I want to say that Market Village was around as far back as 1997, if not a wee bit earlier, and was a pioneer of all sorts in the fight for the perfect AZN shopping outlet that started to re-define what shopping malls should be like for the local expat community. Areas highly concentrated in Hong Kong/Chinese expat communities such as Scarborough, Markham, Richmond Hill (of cour$e) more or less now have their own Chinese businesses, so there is no need anymore to hop to Toronto Chinatown for anything (unless you are a tourist or a thug who needs to do some "bidness")
One of the primary reasons to come here is that this is one of few remaining places, if not the only game in town, where they have a movie theater that only shows fairly new/recent Hong Kong films on the big screen. And it's a pretty good deal too, for one price of admission, you get not one but TWO films back to back. Now I already said A$Ns work in cut throat pace$, and last time I was here was 2003, so I would not be surprised if bittorrent pirate$ and our mainland brethern producing bootleg$ and counterfeit$ caused this place to close down (hopefully not). It is quite a pleasure to be able to watch a good Hong Kong flick on the big screen, and I doubt there are other places in North America that can replicate that experience. Then again you may not want to, as the average A$N thug in attendance might be text msg'ing on his blackberry not far away, lighting up a ciggy, or calling his buddies up to see where they will karaoke and down some whiskey & green tea mixes later (whiskey coke is soooooooooo 80s), all this while you are trying to enjoy a film. Hopefully he is not around you when you go.
Other than that, many various restaurants ranging from family style stir fry plates, a few Northern Chinese eating places, snack shops, one bookstore/cd shop, some selling stuff you may be able to find next door at Pacific Mall (who probably crushed the businesses at Market Village when they opened up).
It is an interesting stroll for a first visit. If you have the energy to walk after going through Pacific Mall (which is literally right next door), then by all means. Otherwise the obvious lack of attendance, patronage, and the slightly less brighter interior of Market Village (as a result of everyone else flocking to Pacific Mall instead) may leave you feeling a bit depressed. -

Meh, pretty much like Pacific Mall. Not worth going . I would go there for some food or titbits but I will not fight over parking with other rude people on a weekend to go to Market Village. There's bootleg DVDs too if you do not support copyright laws. How can the police not close these businesses down? It's pretty obvious they are doing this illegally. If they want to do this in Hong Kong or wherever, fine but why are they bringing all these to Canada? Sigh.

If I lived there, I'd go to this indoor food market for lunch all the time. They have a dozen or more Chinese food vendors like a food court in a mall. Excecpt these serve the authentic items like real street vendor food carts in China. I went to the Dim Sum Dim Sum and had a hot sizzling bowl of rice with beef, vegtables and egg and it was fantastic. Dump a few spoon fulls of their homemade chili sauce on it and you are awake for the rest of the day. Inexpensive, filling but you won't feel stuffed afterwards.
