    Yeaaaaa SUSHILAND =)

I LOVE sushiland - so much cheaper than some of the its competitors. I often come here either for a quick snack or bite, or a meal. It is simply so good!

Not bad. I think my enjoyment for conveyor belt sushi places was waning, but this Sushi Land turned out to be somewhat decent.

Sushi Land in Redmond is conveniently located at Bella Bottega. It was a little confusing at first where to wait to be seated. I think there is more than one entrance. The place was not too packed. It seemed like I came in near the end of the lunch rush as the place was about half full on a Friday.

The assortment of items here does lean towards rolls like other conveyor places. Though there is a good assortment of various priced plates ranging from $1 to $2. Didn't see any $3 sushi offerings. Some places tend to have too much cheap stuff or worse, the opposite. A good conveyor belt sushi place I feel should have good variety in regards to price and selection. This Sushi Land seems to do this fairly well. Though they could offer a better assortment of nigiri.

I mostly had rolls here. The $1 salmon skin roll is a favorite. I did find the mackerel here to be really fishy. I like that they have a few non-sushi items circulating. The fried squid is great, especially when it is hot and has not gone around the house several times. Same thing with the miso soup with fried tofu. I only ate $7.50 worth of food, but I was full already. Have to say Sushi Land is a great place if you are looking for value priced sushi. I don't understand why people go to the QFC across the street to get supermarket sushi when you have Sushi Land right there.

Service was satisfactory. Got seated quickly and received my water in a fair amount of time. It is a pain to ask the sushi chef for a special order and the waitstaff for something from the kitchen at conveyor belt places, so I tend to avoid it. I wish there was a better process for this type of dining. I would even say that I would be all for a place that had a checklist style of ordering sushi like upscale dim sum places in Richmond/Vancouver follow. At least then I know the sushi is fresh and not sitting there for a while.

Sushi Land is okay. The food is decent and the pricing is good. Sometimes you just want to go someplace that is dependable and that is what you will get here.

Basic sushi available here, it's unfortunate that they don't provide more selections. There are way better places than Sushiland.
The service is very mediocre. Most of the time they don't really care about refills etc..
The food is fresh but you get what you paid for.
If you are not a hardcore sushi eater this place is not for you. Unless you want to have California rolls all day.

Always happy with the food and service at this location, it's fast and friendly and the sushi quality is consistent and prices are right, it's great for a quick  healthy lunch.  The Salmon sashimi is fresh and the salmon hand rolls are awesome!
The chefs are friendly and waitstaff attentive, keep up the good work guys!

I came here quite a few times, because its food is average but their prices are fairly low. Blue Sushi in downtown Bellevue offers almost same quality food but you have to pay probably one third even half more. In weekend lunch or dinner time, you will have to wait quite a moment for seats.

It only took eight years! but I'm finally giving sushi a real try. You couldn't get me to go near the stuff until I was at an EE recently and tried little bites of sushi that I thought were pretty tasty.  I realized that I've been stubborn about it for way too long.

First of all I have to say my favorite thing about Sushi Land is that I could stuff my face for five bucks here. I'm not even kidding. Those sushi rolls are filling and the plates are 1-3 dollars each. Such a great meal option if you want to eat out on a budget.
Second, I liked almost everything I tried here. We kept it simple with California, shrimp tempura and crab salad rolls. There was also one with some cream cheese in it and some spicy mayo that was soooo good. I can't remember what it was though. Even if I never get into eating raw fish I will keep coming back for these rolls. They were great.

The atmosphere inside seemed a little dark and dreary for me. That's my only complaint though. Being that this in the only sushi place I've sat down to eat in I'll give it a solid three stars. After I get out and experience some more sushi I'll be sure to write and update.

This is a great place for "discount" sushi. Its not a top if the range sushi bar by any means but great for the average sushi lover. There is usually a good variety of popular dishes on the conveyer belt and the staff will make you something if you request it. The seating can't be tight at lunch time as its a popular place for office workers. The waiters are friendly but sometimes a little slow .. all in all I would recommend this joint to people and always enjoy dropping by for a quick sushi fix :-)

    Yummy!
I love sushi-land! Been a fan since, like forever. I recently discovered this store and its everything great about sushiland but this one is unique!
What makes Redmond different than Bellevue, Queenanne, Beaverton, Tukwila, ( and all the rest)  is that they let you be aware of items that you can order that aren't on the menu already!
Love to order chicken katsu, doriyaki, etc!

I will 5 star every sushi-land restaurant that will do this!

I'm a big fan of Sushiland.  I've been going to them for almost 10 years.  That being said, I've been to just about every one in the chain around the Northwest.  The Redmond Sushiland is great.

If you've been to other Sushilands before, there's nothing terribly new here.  But I think there is subtle differences between each in the area.

This particular one has pretty friendly people.  Drinks are refilled regularly and they even have a menu by the waiting area of items not on the main menu.  They also seem to keep the variety stocked so I find I only have to ask for minimal things.

My tip is have green tea with your sushi.  I was shocked to find that it goes REALLY WELL with it.  I no longer get anything but the green tea with my sushi, and its free!  :D

I have nothing bad to say about this place, except for the last time we went, we had ordered some seared salmon, and the order ended up going to someone else because the sushi prep guy didn't know who ordered it in the first place.  But I can forgive that, we ended up getting takoyaki instead which was a good replacement.

Again, don't come expecting high grade sushi, this is cheap on the go sushi, and I love it.

I used to live in the Vancouver area (Canada) where AMAZING sushi restaurants are plentiful.  This is the only sushi place close to our house that I can find with reasonable prices and decent sushi.  It can get very busy and I certainly wouldn't wait long to eat here, but I like to go here if I need my Sushi fix.

Best calamari, must try with spicy orange sauce. Spicy salmon hand rolls are the best. Redmond Roll is the bomb. Hella cheap, and pretty healthy. Service is slow, but whatevs, they only have like 2 servers on any given day. Cheapest sushi on the eastside. Busy at dinner, get there early, or be prepared to wait.

visited on 1/2/12 for lunch.  Clearly understaffed.  there was not enough variety going around the belt.  kept seeing the same things going around.  Difficult to identify the dishes as they are not labeled.  Very few pieces of whole fish.  We finally spotted some tuna, and it did not taste fresh at all.  Very disappointed in the quality of food today.  There are better conveyer belt places to go to.

This place is perfect if you're looking for something very specific:

-Sushi that isnt the absolutely freshest but is by far the fastest to get into your tummy.
-Your service needs are one beverage and a checkout, nothing more.
-You aren't eating at a normal time like a normal person. Go at 3pm.

Sushi Land is regularly packed, which really is probably the best time to go if you want fresher sushi- you just have to be willing to wait for a table.

The prices are great, the fish is delicious, the service is spotty but tolerable. I usually leave pretty happy, and VERY stuffed-with-fishies.

Okay, it's conveyor belt sushi.  How good can it be?

    Right?

Wrong.  For just a fraction of the cost of your regular sushi joint, you can stuff your face with some excellent selections of sushi.  Don't see what you want on the belt?  Just ask and they will whip it up for you.

I would love to give this place four stars but, the service can be a little slow with your drinks and the wait time when it is busy can be upwards of 20 minutes if you have more than a few people. and can't/don't want to belly up to the bar.

    The Food = 4 stars
    Service = 3 stars...

Beating a dead horse here. It you're looking to choke down thin-cut pieces of fish on a glob of rice, Sushi Land is your place.

We walked in to find 20 people in line ahead of us, but turn-over time was very reasonable and we were seated within 5-7 minutes (party of 2). The quality of the food was mediocre to good, but as many people have mentioned, the price points are fairly reasonable (generally between $1.50 to $3.00 a plate) and my expectations for a 45 seat conveyor belt place with Latino sushi chefs were pretty low. I'd rank it above Sushi Me for lunch, but that's pretty much the gastronomical equivalent of saying I'd prefer to get kicked in the shins, rather than the nuts.

    NEVER AGAIN!

This place is gross, see for yourself, look at the kitchen. When I was there last the place was packed and they sat me and my friend at the end of the conveyor belt by the kitchen, even though I asked not to be they insisted that we sat there. Taking a look around the corner into the kitchen there were smashed pieces of crab meat and fish on the floor and flies buzzing around.

About five minutes after we sat down a fly came out of the kitchen and landed on my friends plate...game over. Appetite gone, this isn't the first time I felt this way about Sushi Land. The service is sub-par at best.

It saddens me to write this, as my family and I used to LOVE this place, and we used to go weekly (at the least!). But something has changed here over the last six months or so. And not for the better. Service has gotten so poor that, the last few times we went, when we ordered the tempura udon soup, we half expected them to forget us and our order. And they rarely disappointed us there (unfortunately). Our sodas didn't get refilled and we often had to get up ourselves to get missing chopsticks or little soy sauce plates. The food changed, too: the calamari was so salty and greasy, many of the fish pieces were slimy, and the selection of plates wasn't as varied as it used to be. (Thankfully, we never saw any employees serving food that had been dropped on the floor. That would definately would've been a game changer for us).

Oh, and their seating policy changed, too - and not for the better. They now refuse to let a party of 3 or less sit at a booth. When my two kids and I were last there, waiting for my husband to show up, they refused to let us have the last booth there, even though I told them that we WERE going to be a party of four! And even though we were regular customers who dined there weekly, and they recognized us. And then I pointed out my husband driving by in the parking lot, looking for a spot, and they STILL wouldn't allow us in the booth. Strange. Then the booth was taken by four folks who walked in, literally three steps ahead of my husband. We all decided, there and then, not to return to this restaurant. We miss it, a lot, but it's just not the same anymore.

NOTE: It's conveyor belt sushi, so I can't really rate it any higher than 3 stars unless it's super spectacular.

Food is consistent, and pretty good.  Cheap prices, fast service, and clean establishments.  They almost always get really busy at lunch so go early.  The calamari is also probably some of the best i've had around, but it's not thickly breaded and the little loops from the body that a lot of "westerners" have gotten used to, so if you're squeamish about the tentacles, you might not want to order this particular dish.  I love that part, so I'm all for it!

BTW: I use the term "westerners" loosely, as I have plenty of asian friends who haven't grown up with this stuff so they are just as squeamish, and I have some white friends that can put down tendon and tripe like a trooper. ;-)

This isn't actual sushi for you who are like me and can put down a plate of sashimi like no one's business, but it will tide you over till you can go to a place where you really want to eat raw fish (i.e. full service dinner sushi bar).

I eat here about 3 times a week. Its almost embarrassing to admit that, but I love it so much!

Whenever I stop by I like to check the daily specials board and usually ask if they have salmon cheek. It looks really disgusting, but it is really delicious. Also usually eat about 3 plates of the spicy mussels.

Every time I eat here the salmon nigiri is really tender with great texture. They also have a good selection of non fish items. I have yet to try the udon, but the gyoza is really yummy and crispy.

I can usually get out full and happy for around $10.

    Essentially, the cleaner Sushi Land.

Make sure to order a seared salmon here, it's legit.  A squirt of mayo, seared, then given to you.  Perfection.

I also like the spicy tuna roll.  The spicy mayo on top of each roll is the key.  Tuna is always fresh, rice is perfectly cooked, crunch from the cucumber.  Yum!

Creamy scallop here is amazing as well.  The scallops are chopped into small pieces, then combined with mayo and fish roe.  They are assembled so that the rice is on the bottom, scallops are on top, and seaweed is wrapped around it.  This is known as gunkan.

Fish roe gunkan is also great here.  The fish roe have a nice bite to them, and are very savory.  The rice balances it all out though.

The house special roll: wrapped in tamago, filled with tuna, cucumber, imitation crab, it's a filling roll!

You can't go wrong with any of the nigiri here, it's all right from the sea!

I haven't come here for a while, I'll be sure to when I get the chance!

    Rude service!

We came in on a Friday and didn't even get a "hello" from the hostess. She just pointed and told us to sit at the bar on the corner where people had their purses, there was no room. I politely asked how long it would be to wait for a booth and she told me we couldn't have a booth at all since it was just two of us. We turned around and left and will never ever be back. Plus, the floor in the entry was sticky. Don't go here! Try Rikki Rikki, Blue C or Umi.

This place is great, if you order the right stuff. I tried their creamy scallop again, because my friend LOVES it here, and it was actually really delicious! Perhaps the last time I had it, it had been sitting there for a while. But we ordered a bunch of plates of the creamy scallop--mmm. I also ordered their spicy tuna and shrimp tempura roll. Both were really good. I also tried one of their rolls that looked like a spider roll--however, it had smoked salmon and cream cheese inside instead of crab, but it was still very yummy nonetheless. I also tried their salmon nigiri and some gyoza. The gyoza was a bit overcooked and too crunchy, so that was alright.

Overall, this is a great place to grab a quick bite to eat and some cheap sushi! I definitely had a better dining experience this time around. Hot green tea complemented my meal really well. And I am definitely ordering their creamy scallop again!

It pains me to write a poor review for a franchise that I adore. The Marinepolis Sushi Land in Redmond has been a large disappointment every time I go there; it's come to the point where I won't be going back. It has the smallest selection that I've noticed among the other Sushi Lands. Perhaps the chiefs are more accustomed at preparing various rolls upon request than having a wider span to choose from off of the conveyor belt. The rolls I have tried seemed dull and not exactly fresh.

What concerns me more than the quality of the food and the quantity of choices is the poor staff service. If you come in with a group of four or more, the staff will take good care of you and make sure that you are well attended. If you come in alone then you should be prepared to wait five to ten minutes before  you are asked if you would like anything to drink, wait even longer for a refill, and finally hope and pray that they walk by a give you a bill at some point.

I've eaten here quite a few times and had a generally decent experience; the sushi is okay, but the have too much crap that no one wants rotating around. Sometimes I'll wait for a good 10 minutes before anything that actually looks appetizing comes around.

I can't complain too much, this is a conveyor belt type sushi place (I forget the proper term for these places), so my expectations weren't too high. The service can be pretty slow at times, and on my last visit the cooks were talking and goofing around while I was left waiting for someone to pay attention to me..

    bottom line:

The prices are excellent and it's close to work, so I'll be back... I'm just not so sure I would recommend it to friends..

I have been going here for about a year now and was miffed at some of the poor reviews.  After all it's Kaiten Sushi, what do you expect.

That was until I was sitting at the sushi bar watching the cook prepare food and I watched him drop some skewers of seafood onto the floor, look around, then pick them up and put them back in.    Needless to say I haven't been back.

I likes me some conveyor belt sushi, and you get what you pay for, including the service.  Sushi-snobs stay away, you've been warned!!

Conveyor belt sushi=fast food sushi, no more no less....

I enjoyed my visit here with the family over this past weekend, we went for "Linner", or is that "Dunch" I can never remember.  The place was packed for a Sunday and our party of 7 had to wait a bit to get seated, note to self 7 peeps does not fit well here.  We got seated at the counter, as the booths sat about 4 maybe 5 people.

Sushi picking began before we were offered waters or drinks.  I will say this, after our first request for beverages, we had to basically ask for everything after that.  The "sushi chefs" were nice enough, they jumped on our requests for udon and offered our group the first chance at whatever was being made up fresh at that point.

The udon and miso soups were solid, the sushi selection for Veggie-girl did hit a few sore spots.  Granted when I looked at the website I could have sworn there were more choices!!  Maybe I was blinded by the fact I luvs me da sushi conveyor belt of happiness.  My bad, Veggie-girl, that's the way Dad rolls, but you know that...

I hate Sushi-land. Hate it. Sometimes I sit awake at night and dream of little songs detailing how much I hate Sushi-land. They would go something like this:

    Oh sushi-land, sushi-land
Hate you more then a manly-man can
Spin a web, in my guts
Filled with dreams of sushi filled with less suck
    Your rice is bland, sushi-land
Your service sucks and your tea is crap
I hate that con-vay-er more then ya know
The only grace of sushi-land, is the food departs as fast as it can.

    ...

Alright, so the song sucked, but it's still better then this god-awful culinary nightmare. Seriously, who the hell thought this was a good idea. Take the worst rice in the universe, and put it through a sizing machine, they can't even be bothered to pat the rice into shape!

Then take the least imaginative or tasty toppings you can possibly add to sushi, stick it on a plate and put it on a belt that circles around the place. Food safety? Sure, why not: everyone and their dog can see just how safe the food is. Three inches from their face. And god help you if someone a few booths down has a cold.

Service? Not here, little red hen. That's a novel idea that the grown-up sushi shops employ, not for the kiddie table. Want to actually ASK for a specific sushi? Good luck. If you manage to get their attention, pray they just hand it across to you rather then sticking on the fucking belt ten tables down from you. USELESS!

    ARGH!

This place fucking sucks! I rank them a notch BELOW the shitty sushi you find in cheap plastic containers in a QFC or dumpster.

I don't expect perfection when I'm visiting kaitenzushiya. Yes, the same plate of salmon has been circling since a half an hour before I got there. If I wanted fresh and delicious I'd go someplace else... but on those occasions when I want "as soon as my butt is in the seat there are three plates of mediocre at best quality sushi that cost me half of what it pays to get fancy-schmancy maki otherwhere," I go to Sushiland.

It's cheap, what can I say?

Today we ended up there because my lovely friend Jen [the conniving awesome girl who ended up scoring me free Chinese food the other night (see review on Noble Court)] brought her dad out to lunch. And by brought her dad out to lunch I mean "brought her dad to lunch to pay for our lunches." We love you, Jen's dad!

There is always a wait here around lunch time, but it also means the likelihood of your sushi being older than some of the patrons [namely the cute newborn we spied today] is greatly diminished.

First thing I did? I made haste and grabbed a bowl of agedashi freakin' tofu. I saw it on the specials menu today and after not having it in what seems like a lifetime, I knew I needed it. So much I had two bowls. And you know what? At $1.50 a pop, even if I were paying my own check, I'd find them worth it.

Another safe choice at this place? Spicy tuna roll -- the sauce is actually spicy, which covers up the taste of the tuna a lot. Is it fresh or is it fishy? I can't tell, I'm too busy contemplating whether it would be tacky to lick the leftover bright orange sauce from my plate. Mmm, sauce.

The other highlights: California rolls that actually have tobiko and only cost $1.50. Fresh calimari [no really if you don't get this fresh from the fryer it kind of tastes like something died in your mouth]. Decent unagi.

Today the specials included a salmon skin maki, which I actually ended up loving, and chikuwa -- deep fried fish-sticky goodness. I'm usually not thrilled with the Sushiland specials but these were surprisingly delicious and if you are lucky enough to go on a day when these are out, give 'em a shot.

Full [off of sushi!] for less than $10 including a generous tip and some green tea ice cream. I can't complain, especially when I don't have to foot the bill...

I'm just not a fan.  I wish I could add one more star because it IS super cheap, I've never really had issues with the service, and the music has been surprisingly good the last 2 times I was there (David Bowie???  Missy Elliot???).  I keep trying it again, hoping for a different outcome, wanting to like it, but...yuck!  My advice:  Stick to the basics, like spicy tuna and salmon nigiri.  I was TO'd that they didn't have Edamame, but I ordered a seaweed salad and was pretty happy with it.  Everything else, though...ack.

I don't believe all conveyor belt sushi places are created equal.  I happen to love Blue C for a quick, fairly healthy meal, even though I wouldn't put it in the same category Nishino, Shiro's or the like.  Even Sushi Yama in Bellevue isn't THAT bad, even though my old co-workers at Valve Software seemed to like it way too much.  Marinepolis, both in Redmond and to a slightly lesser extent in Queen Anne, just doesn't work for me.  I put it on the low end of the conveyor belt continuum.

Super tasty, Super fast, Super cheap!!!

Yeah, the service is questionable but that is why it is cheap!!!

I had a pretty big lunch there a week ago for $6.  Sweet!!!  I just wish it wasn't so popular....

    Eh...
The wait was terrible, the service really bad and the sushi was just fine.
The calamari was really good though.

    Quality: Good
    Value: Great
Service: OUCH. Where to start? We caught them during a lunch rush and got caught in a string of service snafus. First we were ignored by the server, meaning no edamame or miso before lunch for us. 10 minutes later, we finally flagged down a server and asked for tea and water ... our two-top then received one tea and one water. We ate our food off the sparse conveyor belt, and then waited for our check, which never came. Again, after some arm waving we got the check ... only to find that the server wouldn't take our card. "Pay at the front," he said, and scurried off. Fine, ok, to the front we go ... where they inform us that they don't accept amex.

Summary: if the food weren't so good, I'd never go back. But the food was good and the value was great, so I'll probably hit it again. But be wary of service!

Last year, I would come at least once and up to four times a week.  Today, Nigiri is made with a rice ball machine and sadly, the quality and cleanliness of the experience have gone down; that is why Sushi Land now gets 3 instead of 4 stars.

As conveyor belt places go though, this is still the best of those I've been to based on the expectation of "conveyor belt" sushi.

Getting to know the staff is nice too, I see Robert and Enaido there a lot and they make good Spider rolls, Tonkatsu rolls, Tempura rolls, etc.  Seared Salmon is also a favorite of mine; the salmon here tends to be pretty fresh if you get there at the right times--I could eat 50 plates of salmon nigiri at once :D

Open 'til 10PM is nice too--you just shouldn't expect the staff to make you a bunch of stuff at 9:59PM though; go work at a restaurant and see if you like it.

Side note: unyielding haters who like to drop the 1-star bombs all over the place need to stop writing reviews; expectations should align.  Sushi Land doesn't try to be a fancy place--they try to do a good job running a low margin sushi shop that turns customers and make them happy, full, and with enough extra cash to come back to eat again.
