I frequently end up here after an evening at my friends house in the Junction. I'm a big fan of popping over for a 2.50 PBR, hard to beat in the city. I dig the atmosphere, and the crowd is usually pretty relaxed.
The only thing that stops it from getting 5 stars from me is that on occasion I'll wander in and will be surrounded by wannabe b-boys trying to pop and lock. It feels a little incongruous in a hipster den. -

conjunction junction, what's your function? to entertain hip youngsters=) Margret on Dundas West appeared to be a very chill bar. The place was dimly lit and the decor was all over the place. Mostly what would appear to be found items and vintage goodies. The beer selection was fairly decent, I think I had a my classic king can of Stiegl. There was a DJ spinning a mix of old school hip hop beats and some new school jams.
I really do not feel I should judge a bar on its patrons, however, the most hurting intoxicated guy sat down next to me and started rambling on. Apparently, he worked for sleep country and could hook me up with a bed if I wanted one. hahaha. I suppose that is nice of him. First time I have been offered a bed, not going to one at the bar=) ha. I should go back for a beer and check out if they have different genre music nights. Consensus=jump back in the near future.
But make um understand Its Westside foe Life
Thanks so much for your time,
Cheers,

It was COMPLETELY EMPTY saturday night. I was trying to find a place on the Junction for some drinks and the 70's look kind of appealed me.
I asked for a Bloody Mary, and they didn't have bloody maries. Only Clamato with Vodka. It was so-so and cost me 5.50. Did I already mention the place was EMPTY? I mean, only me and my friends.
They could be a nice drinking place, but I don't know exactly what's wrong. I enjoyed the Tarzan movie on the screen. But I usually go out to see people, otherwise I can drink at my place.
After finishing my clamato-with-vodka, we decided to try a party somewhere else.Listed in: Party Time

Friday night at Margret was one of the most fun and laid back dance nights I've had in a while. Despite not really having a dance floor at all, partiers filled all standing room and shook it to the sounds of the night's DJ who spun under played tunes from the likes of Le Tigre, Lily Allen, and Beck.
Those who were able to resist getting up and moving to the awesome music gathered along the bar at the front or sat around low circular formations of plush seating.
The decor is kitschy at its best. One of the dramatic red walls is completely covered in ornately framed portraits of dolls and furry animals. Decals of the outlines of airplanes adorn another wall. Lighting is provided through statement chandeliers.
There are no beers on tap, but with a wider than usual bottled selection that ranges from megasized Blanche de Chambly to your humble 50, I don't think anyone's going to have anything to complain about. -

I've been to Margret for both drinks and brunch. My impressions:
1. Drinks: Great service, busy evening, amazing music playing (they have a regular rotation of DJs). I love the 70s decor and the decals on the wall, not to mention the kooky artwork.
2. Brunch: the brunch menus are neatly tucked into old romance novels and the place seats about 20 people at most. The menu choices are terrific, ranging from a flaky croissant spread with blue cheese and pears to granola, breakfast burritos and french toast topped with heaps of fresh fruit. Unfortunately every time I've gone for brunch they seem to be short-staffed, underestimating their popularity. I think it's just the owner and one other guy working, because the wait times have been outrageous (45 minutes for brunch?) at times. But it's the convenient location and amazing food that keep me coming back!Listed in: The Best Places To Eat &…

Drinking at Margret's is kind of like going to drink in your Brooklyner friend's living room. I say this because there are no taps but the bottle choice is fairly distinctive. I enjoyed some Blanche de Chambly in what looked like thrift store glasses here last friday. A dj was on hand playing some very solid retro tracks. I could have used without the background film loop of Betty Page. It's over used, stale and more than a little derivative at this point. The sofa we were on was comfy and seemed surprisingly clean, but this doesn't seem like a place that should serve food... if you can't have taps then you shouldn't have a menu.

A great addition to the Junction. Great music, friendly hosts, cool atmosphere. Always looking forward to the next time I'll be there.
