We had a lovely light salad made with fresh local produce. A chocolate lava cake was perfect to share. Nice atmosphere and owner Bridget was delightful.

    Thanks Bridget!
Bridget put out a wonderful dinner for my brother's 50th birthday this past week. Friends and family came from both coasts for the celebration. I had been to Marfa a few years ago, but never got the chance to have a real meal there- we were running late for lunch; my parents and I got to share a big bowl of soup on the house.
Back to the dinner- we had a wonderful salad, followed by a cold cucumber soup made from local vegetables. Th entree was a choice of beef tenderloin( fresh horse radish) or herbed chicken both with lemon green beens, yellow squash and roasted potatoes. For dessert the choice of coconut tre leches cake or peach crumble w/ local peaches. Though this was a private dinner- I guarantee it speaks for the great food and hospitality provided at Marfa Table.

Our best dining experience in Marfa during our extended weekend in this small town.

The interior is small and cozy, and decorated in a simple yet chic style. The kitchen where the chef prepares the wonderful meals is not in a separate room, but completely open to the dining area. So as the diners relax over their wine (BYOB) and wait for their meals, they get to see the chef nearby, dicing, grilling, baking, and working her magic in the kitchen.

My friends I felt more like guests in a home than diners in a restaurant. The chef/owner came to our table after we were seated, greeted us, and chatted with us for a bit. The two servers were adorable and polite little girls, roughly around 9 and 12 (give or take a year or two), who helped the chef around the kitchen and served dishes as needed. I later learned they were the daughters of previous diners; these little fairies apparently wanted to come back and help the chef around the kitchen. How cute is that?! (You'll likely get regular grownup servers on a typical night).

As for the food, everything tasted so incredibly fresh and flavorful. For appetizers, my friends and I shared the salmon spread and the bruschetta, both of which were delicious. My entree was the fish tacos with a side of sweet potatoes and a vegetable dish; the highlight of this dish was the yams. The yams were topped with -- if my memory serves me correctly -- goat cheese, which brought out the wonderful taste of the sweet potatoes even more.

On a sidenote, the wait for the food is on the long side. There is only one chef, after all. If your night is flexible, this shouldn't matter, since chatting with friends over wine and appetizers in this wonderful setting is certainly nothing to complain about. But if you have other activities scheduled that night, you might want to get there much earlier so you can relax and leisurely enjoy your dining experience.

Couldn't be happier with our experience at Marfa Table. The food was wonderful and incredibly fresh. The only problem is that it was REALLY tough to decide what what we were going to order. Even though we're only here for a few days, I might have to grab some cucumber soup to go
tomorrow so I can try more of the things on the menu!

Yummy food but beware - they may run out of said food on busy (for them) days. We had good coffee, cinammon roll, and the *last* breakfast taco (they had been open less than an hour and ran out of tacos...?)

Everything seems to be made from scratch, excellent.. Just limited options. I think when we walked by around 1 or 2 they had exhausted all of their supplies for the day and closed shop (normal hours until 3 pm, I believe).

Great new place with very healthy options. Not always easy when traveling in West Texas.

Their slogan is - Seasonal, Local & Sustainable

I had the vegan mole bowl with cabbage and cilantro and it was fantastic.

My wife had the chicken sandwich and loved it.

The menu changes weekly so stop by when visiting Marfa!

Like having dinner at a chef's home, this restaurant is comfortable, unimposing and delicious. The kitchen is open to the restaurant, and the lovely chef comes over to check that everything is up to par. Food is prepared in a southern rustic style, and it's BYOB. In an unexpected show of Southern Hospitality, we were given the option of "mailing in a check" to cover our bill when we initially tried to pay with a card (they don't accept credit). We always have cash on hand for just such occurrences however, so we paid our bill, and left with full bellies and a warm and fuzzy feeling inside.

Not sure why I thought this would be a fancy foo foo place but it isn't at all.  very comfortable staff and space.  The food was very well prepared - good fresh flavors and portions that filled me but didn't leave me bloated.  Its nice to have a meal that didn't feel like it was microwaved in the back of a Sysco truck.  Go check it out.

I spent a little over a week in Marfa and went here about every day for breakfast.  It was a wonderful little place to eat and pass the time, the food and coffee were top notch, the atmosphere was great and the staff were always quite friendly, and beyond being nice to talk to, they suggested many places to visit and activities to do.

    yes yes yes yes yes.

an enchanting meal with extraordinary company was a gift to be shared on that christmas day.

a simple turkey sandwich, a mexican coke, some cranberry relish, a homemade chocolate cookie gift from the proprietor, an impromptu snap.
a lazy afternoon in a sleepy town with tasty morsels in our bellies, we set out on this gorgeous crisp day, happy and satiated.

i was sad this place wasn't open over the weekend. only m-f.
i would've eaten here every day. it's that good.
they were making cinnamon rolls as we left - i asked after them - they were special for the staff for the holiday - i then asked if they were hiring.

open kitchen. lovely hostesses. simple & sparse and made with love.
you can feel it all around you.

Amazing food! The cook/hostess/waitress/owner(?) was a sweetheart and the open layout of the restaurant was really neat. We were blown away by the tastes packed into such modest food as carrots, olives and kale. The yams were amazing, as was the mexican chocolate cake. Great meal!

We stopped in here on an early morning visit to Marfa. All of the galleries were closed at 10am so we settled for coffee and breakfast. It was lovely.

Walking in, we were greeted warmly by a man and a woman busy in the open kitchen. They told us that breakfast tacos were ready for us and bran muffins were cooking in the oven. It felt like my grandmother's kitchen on a fresh, hungry morning.

We asked for breakfast tacos ($3 per, filling and really delicious) and coffee, also delicious and with cheap refills. The atmosphere was wonderful - a spacious room, simply and tastefully decorated, with large and small tables with and without white tablecloths; huge windows looking on Main Street letting through West Texas morning light; happy regulars walking in for breakfast, greeted by name and drawn into conversation.

If I lived in West Texas, I would spend hours here every morning, staring into my laptop but really listening to, sniffing, watching, everything around me.

We loved the fresh local ingredients skillfully prepared. Chilled cucumber soup was erupting with freshness. Grass-fed rib-eye steak bursting with flavor. Also, smoked pork ribs seasoned with a complex rub. BYOB. I liked how the desserts were flavorful but not too sweet. I recommend the tres leches cake with coconut. This place has a lot of personality.

what to say about marfa table?! we had dinner there last week after a veeery long drive to marfa, and to say we were handsomely rewarded would be an understatement.
the space felt perfect, there was a large lively group along with another couple when we arrived. we started with the table plate, which had the most delicious miniature cucumbers i can hardly wait to research in hopes they grow in our part of the country. i went with the pork dish, my husband went with salmon, and both were absolutely solid. the vegetables were flavorful and fresh, you could really feel the love in the food.
we stuck around and chatted with bridget, who offered suggestions for what to do around town, gave us some chocolate cake (mmmmmmm), told us a bit about the farmers she gets her food from, and really truly just made us feel at home.
marfa table felt like a place you could linger for a while...i look forward to returning next time we're in town.

I walked in and the hostess told me and my girlfriend that the only good table was reserved.  Then she told us we could BYOB, but sent us to this absurdly overpriced store called the Get Go where a six pack cost almost 10 bucks.  And when we wanted to order, she told us to be careful of her "limited menu."  I've never been to a restaurant that was so desparate to scare me away.  I would try somewhere else.
