I'll preface this by saying I get weekly injections so I go here all the time because it's close to work.  I'm not a sickly person, just getting allergy shots.

Dr. Lamont is great, she's fun and open and asks good questions.  I try to make sure I see her when I go.

I've also seen Dr. Siegal a couple of times and would really prefer not to.  All he ever tries to do is give me drug suggestions or prescriptions, no fail, because immunotherapy is apparently a waste of time.  I always get the impression he's being paid by drug companies to pimp out their wares.  I try to avoid seeing him if at all possible.  You should too if you want healthy, non drug alternatives to treatment.

I've only seen Dr. Henderson once and I have no real impression of him, other than him asking me if I was drunk at 9AM and seeming confused when I laughed and said 'it's a bit early to start drinking'.  Well, for me it is.

The wait times here are pretty terrible too, like a lot of walk in clinics. It's a pain in the ass if you just need something done really quickly.  Put your name down and come back later, usually an hour later, and you'll get in.  Avoid waiting in the waiting room - the chairs here are the worst chairs on the planet for extended waiting.  Absolutely awful, and I'm stuck in em for at least an hour a week, wishing I could sit on the floor instead.

The lovely thing about Canada is the free healthcare. However, it's been tough finding a family doctor since we've moved here so whenever I'm sick, I usually look up one of the many walk-in clinics and just well, walk in. The last time I was sick, I went to the clinic that was closest to where we lived in Kits, but this time around, when we got there, it was closed. So after making some phone calls, we found that the Maple Medical Clinic was just a couple blocks down the street.

The wait was not too bad, there were plenty of magazines to read in the waiting room, the place was clean and the receptionist was pretty friendly and nice. However, she kept singing along with the Celine Dion song that was playing on the radio... kinda annoying when you're not feeling well.

After waiting for about 30 minutes, I was led into a waiting room where I spent another 15 minutes or so of waiting before the doctor came in. I think his name was Dr. Henderson, but I don't quite remember since I was groggy and sick. He quickly looked me over, dismissed it as a viral cold of sorts and then asked me if anyone close to me was feeling sick. I told him that my wife may be coming down with the same thing, and his face contorted into shock and he goes "WHAT DO YOU MEAN, WIFE, THAT DOESN'T MAKE SENSE?" I then replied.. "uhh.. cos I'm gay?"

So, 1 * for the clean waiting room, and  a big fat BOO for a doctor that doesn't seem to know how to react to gay families, which hello? this is Canada, where gay people actually can get married legally.

    P/S: sorry about my essay.

I've been back on a few other occasions and seen Dr. Henderson, and I have no complaints with him.  Wait time isn't usually too long (I always seem to go on a Tuesday morning around 9 or 9:30am...).

I walked into Maple Medical Clinic by chance and there I found one of the best family doctors I've seen anywhere.  Dr. Lamont is very thorough, knowledgeable and kind; she never rushes you to get through your medical queries quickly - quite a change from so many of the doctors I have seen in the past.  So, if you don't have a family doctor of your own, and are dropping in to this place, I'd consider dropping in when she is there.
