A friend of mine is originally from the area, so when she found out I would be up this way she told me I HAD to go to Niagara on the Lake and that I HAD to go to Maple Leaf Fudge.

When I finally arrived to Queen Street (which is more adorable than I can put into words), I happened to find a parking spot right in front of Maple Leaf Fudge. The shop is super cute, and full of candy that will send anyone into a diabetic coma.

The selection is great - a nice mix of real fudge and pre-packaged goods, in addition to maple syrup, cookbooks, etc. - and I managed to do all of my "souvenir" shopping for my office and my Canadian friend all in one place. The prices seemed alright, but I really wouldn't know since I don't eat fudge.

The staff was hit or miss - one woman told me what their most popular fudge was, but seemed very disinterested in helping me further and walked away. The other employees were alright, and the cashier was friendly enough.

They do take US and Canadian dollars (as well as credit cards), so if you didn't convert your money like I failed to do, you'll be fine.

If you're in the area, be sure to stop in here for some treats.
