New Orleans, LA
First trip to San Francisco, best Panini I have EVER had. My girlfriend and I have no clue how there isn't a line out the door at lunch time.
Everything is fresh. Guacamole made to order. Great place, owner is fabulous. Go here now! -

Garlic chicken panini hit the spot! Yum
I am so glad we stopped by in here for lunch. We had just arrived to San Francisco and we were super hungry. My husband and I walked around to find a good lunch spot. We came across Mango's Cafe and decided to walk in. Initially, I was inclined to suggest we try another place. It is a small cafe, and I was in the mood for a different type of atmosphere. I decided to just stay and go with it. I had the Garlic Chicken panini and it was fantabulous... The moment I sunk my teeth into it and gave my first chew... the flavors in my mouth brought a smile to my face..mmmmm... We were both very happy with our lunch spot choice. The panini maker was very friendly and welcoming. It is a cute cafe and I highly recommend it. -

Had a really good panini sandwich here after arriving in the city and checking into my hotel across the street. The women working here were super friendly too.
When I arrived, there was only a couple and me while the nearby eatery was packed. But I went with my instincts and ordered a huge chicken panini and big coffee. Both were fantastic.
One woman brought the food to my table which was nice considering it's a counter. I left her a nice tip.
I should have gone back here but opted to try more places along the street. Wish there was more seating but otherwise this place is great. -

Alright so I really want to love this place but for some reason, most likely the fact that it's expensive and mediocre, I can't.
I ordered an ice coffee that was weirdly thick and extremely burnt so I was totes disappointed because I expected more from this extremely cute little cafe.
However, the fact they have homemade Mexican wedding cookies, aka powdered sugar walnut shortbread cookies, like my mother makes only at Christmas, I kind of died! So props to Mango for that however they were 2 dollars each and the cookie is smaller than my palm.... Anyway,
I doubt I'll ever try their lunch specials but i wouldn't doubt they would be tasty since the cookies I so hesitantly bought were delicious. Check it out for yourself, maybe it'll be better! So,
Mediocre/burnt coffee
But delicious cookies.
$5 dollar minimum for debit/credit cards -

There must be some kind of conspiracy to prop this place up on yelp. It's a maybe slightly above average cafe with inconsistent, slightly above average food offerings and that is not open when it claims to be on its website.

San Francisco, CA
Got a pre-made veggie sandwich (don't judge me, I went in there for a Reuben but (a) was in a hurry and (b) I am trying to make healthier choices) and an iced coffee (which turned out to be an iced americano, but had more than enough quality espresso, so I'm placated).
Veggie sandwich has brie, so I was sold. But the brie was, surprisingly, actually kinda good brie. Every time I've had a sandwich with brie, it's been low-quality, bland brie, but not here. The sandwich was simple but all ingredients seemed genuinely of good quality and it tasted great. $5 and change. I'm happy.
Ordered an iced coffee and got an iced americano. I drink both and had no problem with the switch. I didn't see how many shots, but from the taste there is more than enough espresso in here. Also tastes like good espresso.
Woman working at the shop was extremely pleasant, as the theme of this place seems to be.
A few tables, so only a handful of people can eat there. Should keep it quiet.
Will definitely return. -

I walked in today after an absence of about three months. The woman behind the counter told me that they no longer serve sandwiches. All they had were some deli items and drinks. A very meager selection. I don't see how this place will stay in business.

My California Chicken Panini was awesome and cheap! It has a nice, local vibe.
They were a bit crowded and could've used another employee and a bit more space, but the two ladies were nice and got it done. I'll definitely go back. -

I found this place on Yelp and decided to walk in to get some lunch. The person running the cashier was a little bit rude in the tone that she spoke. For example, I asked if there was a menu I could see and she replied, "What?!" So, instead of eating in, I opted to take my lunch out and tried to get out of there as fast as I could.
Anyways, when I was there, I noticed that the person ahead of me complained about his coffee so I guess I wasn't the only customer who was dissatisfied.
Unfortunately, that first impression left me feeling a little sour and I probably will try somewhere else next time. -

A year and a half hiatus ended for this little shop. I love restaurant people, nay, I love food people. Real food people. The ones who would never waste a second of their lives eating food that was not good, not delicious, not worth every bite. It means eating for yourself. Whatever that might be and however that might taste, you eat it because you know that food is life and every bite is worth loving.
The three lovely ladies at Mango cafe know and believe this. And you taste it in every simple sandwich and panini they make. Chipotle roast beef with tomato and onions and mustard...turkey Brie onion and some heavenly sauce...California chicken...it's all so impossible to imagine in a small shop that would barely catch your eye walking down Geary (if only because you become immediately distracted by the glass dildo store two doors down). But here it is, the exemplar of San Franciscans philosophy on food: it should taste good, it should be made well and it can come in any form from anyone.
Sure, it's just a sandwich shop. But really, that's all you need. SF, watch out, I'm here. -

Mango's is a little known gem here in the Tenderloin. The owner makes outstanding coffee and cuisine. She has a variety of food, pastries and other delicious things. I love supporting local businesses and she has a fantastic set up. Go get coffee at Mango's next time your in the Tenderloin.

"No, we don't have ice."
But they did have a decent selection of other stuff, if you're into coffee. -

This place is only okay. The food left A LOT to my imagination and left my wallet A LOT emptier.
Why was my mango licuado $5.75 and tasted like nothing more than foamy milk? Where's my mango?
The paninni was pretty tasty, but very small.
I'm still hungry $14.75 later.
Also, the whack owner (and I'm assuming she is the owner because every staff member looked to her for answers) was HELLA shady. After she rung up my licuado and could see I was visibly shocked, the other lady who was making the licuado asked her in Spanish if I wanted it or not, and the shady ass owner lady told her to forget it and that I would pay for it...as if I didn't understand their ugly faces! Ughhh
Won't see me back in there unless I'm desperate and rich. -

I was just contacted by another Yelp member, who said that I "was judging the owner too quickly" and "should not post this." Excuse me, that's censorship.
I am honestly frustrated and angry from my experience at Mango's Cafe. Given their customer service, I am surprised they are still in business. We'll see how long they last.
************************************************** *************************************************
What happened is this:
I came in with a coworker, was ignored for awhile. I figured they were busy, but no one was ahead of us.
I bought one item, they ****shortchanged me $20****. I came back to ask for my CORRECT CHANGE, they refused to give it to me. To add insult to injury, the owner was downright rude and insulting to me.
When I asked the owner how we could resolve the situation, she said "no." I told her about that I'd post a Yelp review, and she encouraged me to do so. No apology, no offer to give me a gift certificate or a meal on the house. And definitely no offer of a refund....! I would have felt better about losing $20 on the street, at least I wouldn't have been INSULTED by the patronizing owner.
The public has a right to know. The owner WILL rip you off if she can.
Real Talk.

San Francisco, CA
This gem of a cafe i one of my new favorite places in the city to get a tripple shot, peppermint, white mocha and a chicken salad over a well prepared fresh bed of greens. The woman who owns the shop opened it in 2008. During a time when many were losing jobs and property this woman managed to rise up from the rubble with a beautiful european like cafe that has become favorite place to break from the day for many who live and work in the neighborhood. I give Mango Cafe 5 stars for service and offerings. If you pass by I strongly suggest stoping in for a genuin smile and a great cup of coffee.

Some of the friendliest folks around who have a heck of a good spread of food stuffs at their disposal, but you'd swear these people came to San Francisco from some island in the middle of the Pacific, because they operate on Hawaii time, big time!
Not familiar with "Hawaii time?" Well, if you've ever visited the island chain, you'll recognize that locals move at an extremely leisurely pace, which may come as a bit of a shock to vacationers accustomed to the hustle and bustle of a typical American fortnight. There's no real sense of urgency, which isn't a bad thing at all since we all seem to run at top speed constantly, but when you're legitimately in a hurry, this could prove to be a little annoying.
I'm pretty simple when it comes to my orders here. An easy caprese panini and perhaps a small snack cookie is all I need, and while it's always delicious, it's taken upwards of 10 minutes to prepare at times, and that's with nobody in line in front of me. Just dandy if it was a lazy Sunday afternoon, but not so much when you're trying to grab a quick bite en route to a work function or running late to meet a friend. C'est la vie, I suppose.
If they were able to bang out their nosh in a more efficient manner, this would easily be a 5-star experience. But for now, I'll be sure to visit only when I have a copious amount of time on my hands.Listed in: Sando GOLD!, The 'Loin!, San Fransandwiches!

Delicious! I can't believe I've never been to this place and it's right around the corner from me!
The two women working were so charming and the service was great. I ordered the Turkey, Ham and Brie panini and it was delicious. I like things a bit spicy, so I asked for a side of their chipotle sauce and it was a perfect addition.
My boyfriend, who is a cappuccino connoisseur, thoroughly enjoyed his cap.
Will definitely be back! -

AMAZING tiramisu -very soft, elegant sweetness thats not overwhelming, with a tiny touch of coffee liquor. I would prob drive all the way just for tiramisu. It is a tiny coffee shop but super cute and clean.
and the tiny latina lady was very nice and helpful.
I havent tried the other food menu. It seemed dessert seemed more appealing than the pastas and deviled eggs in the case.
Mocha was perfectly served and this coffee shop definitely goes way beyond the starbucks. -

For a quick lunch before going to the Curran, we stopped by Mango's Cafe. My wife ordered a "regular" ham & Swiss and I had the Guacamole Chicken san. Her ham san was, as it says for a 2-star rating, "Meh. I've experienced better." We could have made the same at home for much less $$. Mine was OK. The guac & olive spread were the highlights but still nothing really special. The watermelon iced tea was the best part of our experience there but a very small cup for the price. We also ordered a red velvet cupcake & coffee cake. Both were very dry & overpriced for what we got.
Seriously, if this is what SF locals consider good deli food, they need to get out of town more often. -

I absolutely love this place. Everyone working there is super friendly and remembers you every time you visit. Their sandwiches are the best around neighborhood in addition to their freshly baked desserts (which I know it's fresh because, I would often walk in and see the lady taking out freshly baked goodies out of the oven)
My favorites: Chocolate banana cake (the best ever!). Fish Sandwich (Friday special). De Jamon. Western Chicken. Watermelon iced tea.
Tip: They're closed on Mondays. -

I had a serious craving for an old-fashioned salami sandwich.
Not processed food, but a deli.
Hard to come by, near my office.
My security guy told me to try Mango's Cafe, and I am SO glad I did.
The ladies were so sweet! The price is right. They have specialty sandwiches as well. I left and told them I'd be back in 20 minutes.
Came back 30 minutes, and they had kept my sandwich warm. Nice sized sandwich, Great Caprice Salad, and the service was a breathe of fresh air around here!
I am heading there again today, I feel like I hit the lotto!
Great fresh food, great price, and you leave smiling! -

Cool, cozy spot on Geary near (but not too near) the bustling Union Sq. area. Great place to stop by and enjoy the warm atmosphere, service, and try some of their deli-type food. I stopped in here with my bro after walking around the area looking for a warm drink. We both had the green tea lattes and I tried the baklava. The green tea lattes were really good and I would assume their other whole leaf teas are of similar caliber.
The only reason I'm giving them 4/5 stars is that they began to kick us out 5 mins before they started closing. Why couldn't they just let us finish our drinks while they closed the doors? I did notice they were eager to clean up and leave, but we were almost done too. Oh well, other than that, I'd come back if I'm in the 'hood. -

I live really close and today was the first time I dropped in.
When the door is closed but there is an open sign it doesn't look very welcoming.
The interior is small and there is no menu up.... I came in around 10:30am and there was a couple eating and three people working. Cozy but a tight squeeze. I ordered a green tea latte. It was advertised outside.
$3.29 for a small. It was tasty and cheaper than starbucks. All three workers seems like they were working really hard to start the day.

After a day of traveling all over town, we visited SFAE (that's another review). We were tired and beyond hungry so asked the fabulous woman who worked there where to find a great little deli. She didn't hesitate when she quickly suggested, "Mango's, right down the street". A short stroll later we found ourselves at this quaint little deli. Immediately upon entering we were warming greeted as though we were regulars. We ordered a turkey sandwich and the "special", a pastrami on rye, accompanied by the absolutely delicious pasta salad. We weren't able to finish them, so they wrapped them with care and sent us on our way with our leftovers (which were even better the next day)!
Definitely make Mango's a stop the next time you're in the area!! -

For a Thursday afternoon, there was something incredibly relaxed and soothing about the atmosphere of the place. The entrance is slanted to the interior which creates a feeling of privacy. The seating, wall and plant arrangements meshed together very well and the desserts, pasta salads and drinks were arranged neatly in a pleasing way. I felt like I could sit down and take a deep breath to reflect on the morning in a perfectly sized space.
I ordered a garlic chicken pannini. It was delicious. -

Tips to staff:
1. Bagels shouldn't be toasted, and on one customer's case they burned the bagel. "It's just going to be crunchy", she explained.
2. A croissant with frittata shouldn't contain mayo and be warmed.
3. Tomatoes and onions typically go on a bagel, lox and capers, NOT on warmed mayo frittata croissant.
4. Mayo should be used sparingly!
5. Saying "sorry" for wrong orders and slow service does not make up for bad food and bad service.
Good luck on staying in business. -

A bestie and I wanted to sit and catch up on our summer adventures. She was craving deli so I decided to give this place a chance. Welcomed with a friendly smile and a "welcome" from the owner, I felt very at ease. He presented the special for the day and answered any questions we had on our minds. The environment is not like any other cafe you would find. Although limited seats, there will eventually be one available. Dogs welcomed!
We ordered a California Chicken Panini and a side of crab salad.
Once you bite into the warm, crunchy yet soft bread, you can taste the chicken breast, sauce and all the veggies all together. The salad had its own distinct taste as well.
Totaled up to around $12! We both split the meal and were full! Definitely check this place out! -
Review from catherine b.
El Cerrito, CA
I came here yesterday and was pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness and nice selection. I know I should just shut up about prices in SF, but I was unpleasantly surprised by that part.
Bro had the turkey sandwich and a carrot juice (odwalla , not fresh). I had a small roast turkey and swiss cheese sandwich (hold the bread) amounting to two slices of each, and a side of antipasto. The antipasto was oil and vinegar plus artichoke hearts, olives and mushrooms. It was OK, not exactly what I was expecting. It also had stealth parmesan in it, which is hard on a lactard. So, that amounted to $18.50. Bro got fruit salad for dessert and I gave a couple of bucks tip for nice service. Another $5. Seems like a lot to me for a pretty small lunch.
I think 3 stars for the fresh food, and a half star because Angelica is very nice and takes pride in keeping the place clean. She keeps track of when my Bro gets to his tenth sandwich and then he gets one free. Trust me, it's a big deal.
I forgot that I also had a large coffee, with the extra 50-cent shot of soy. Discrimination. Get ready, people, for one day we shall rise up and charge you extra for your milk and double-extra for your half-and-half. Then we'll look at you like *you* are the high maintenance ones.

Center Stage Deli sounds like it should be in Times Square, being run by tired old men charging extortionate prices to tourists for mediocre sandwiches.
But in actuality, it's in San Francisco, run by several sweet, accommodating women, who build beautiful sandwiches at decent prices.
They didn't have pepperoni or cracked pepper turkey (despite the Boar's Head sign), but my sandwich was piled with pepperoncinis, lettuce, tomato, pickles, jalapenos, and tons of other delicious free add-ons.
It was the perfect plane snack, and I'm not even mad that it soaked through the paper bag and now all my stuff smells like sandwich.Listed in: san francisco treats., san francisco eats.

I've been passing by Mango's Cafe for almost a year now on a daily basis and have never ventured in. After a long day of marching in the Pride Parade, the BF and I wanted some hearty sandwiches. We decided to give Mango's a go which, seeing as how it was our first time, was a tad on the risky side; we were famished and had no idea whether we'd like it or not!
We're both happy that we chanced it because our sandwiches were fantastic. I ordered the California Chicken Panini. The bread was delicious, crunchy on the outside and soft as I bit through. It was filled with plump white chicken breast, fontina cheese, bacon and a pepper sauce. I was so pleased with it that I ate the whole thing (I typically only eat half of anything I order - I have a small tum!). I'm looking forward to coming back here one morning and ordering something from their espresso bar. -

Angelica is the woman of the year (in my opinion) and is quite unique considering she has lived around the corner over the last 16 years. Such a warm caring person - she remembers everything you order, how you like it, what extra little things you do and thinks about new things for you to try. Always has a great story about life, travels, and how little we all really need to be happy. I'm a fan.
Oh, and I am partial for the Tomato Bisque here myself, but the sandwiches always hit the spot! -

This place is like one of Union Square's best kept secrets. There's a sign on the wall behind the counter which reads, "Enter as strangers, leave as friends" and it couldn't be more true. The staff at Mango's are extremely accommodating and friendly, and the variety and unique selection of food they have will definitely keep me coming back the next time I'm in the area.
It was a rare sunny and humid day that found me at Mangos, so I hydrated myself with some Watermelon Ice Tea (so good because once you finish the drink you can munch on the watermelon slices) and an grilled chicken sandwich with provolone cheese and guacamole. My only complaint or suggestion would be that I wish they would offer wheat bread at Mango's.
While cafe food is by no means the best food ever or something which I or most people particularly crave, for a cafe, Mango's definitely deserves 5 stars. -

I found this on yelp and it well deserves the good reviews. I had the Italiano panini and my girlfriend had the tres leeches and both were really really good.

Review from Jason B.
Union Square two Sundays before Christmas is not where I wanted to be. Ever since the family made the excellent call years ago to no longer give each other things we don't want/don't need, I've happily avoiding the holiday shopping madness. But I needed to head downtown for tickets (Zero 7 @ the Warfield), gift cards (hurray Target To Go!) and caffeine (refill of Blue Bottle beans). I also needed a sandwich.
I knew Center Stage deli was going to be a good choice when I flipped over the menu and discovered the specialty sandwiches. Above & beyond (my current favorite phrase after a simply epic Above & Beyond show a few weeks back in Sacramento) the standard offerings, these were their own creations, and I had a hard time decision between the chicken with avocado and the BBQ chicken. Being a sucker for BBQ sauce, I went with the latter. It was a delicious choice.
Fourth star confirmed with the parfait. Well, it wasn't quite a parfait, as the only yogurt was whole and the milk was 2% so I was going to go without either, but I loved the effort the guy helping me made to create one. He tossed some granola at no charge on top of an order of their fruit salad, and while I was eating away he was still looking for something to add in. With a smile he brought over some honey, and I happily obliged. Nice gesture.
There is no internet, so I recommend following my lead and bringing the Sunday paper to browse while you are enjoying the eats. Judging from other yelpers, the secret is clearly out this is one of the gems in the union square/tenderloin area. Glad I checked it out. -
Review from Roy M.
In a neighborhood of much mediocrity and price points that can mostly be described as fellatious, there are a few gems that stand out beyond the turd-mulched and piss-watered trees of little mystery. Is Center Stage Deli née, Mango's Café, one of said gems. Perhaps. What is known is this:
*Sandwiches are solid, delicious, and made well (with tasteful and tasty extras)
*Decorated warmly and warmly manned, the atmosphere is anything but what goes on streetside.
*They serve Cafe Umbria.
*Delicious turkey, ham and brie sandwich (spiked with perpperoncini for just the right tang) is a total breath killer, but totally worth it. I may pass on the French dip, but whatever.
*They have a KILLER "chocolate chip" cookie. It's more like a chocolate flake cookie. Holy effin' moly.
I'm not sure where these bullet points came from, but let's just ignore those for a second and talk sandwiches. No... let's not. Let's dream sandwiches. And may all those sand-wishes come true...Listed in: My Opinions
