Lovely little courtyard for al fresco dining. Good, tasty, authentic Italian food (and good sized portions). House red is an inoffensive little number. Cozy and unpretentious interior if the weather is against you. Seafood linguine and a glass of red for just over $20.

This is a small and cozy italian restaurant... the food is very good and you can notice that it is "prepare to order".

I am not a big fan of going out for Italian food but this place breaks my tradition... every time I come to Ottawa, I go to eat at least one night for dinner. Sometimes I need to wait... and I don't have any problem.

The service is always good and every plate that I've tried has been very well made. Even the house wine is good.

I would reccomend this restaurant to everybody and I think that the food is worth every penny.

In search of an eating establishment that would neither break the bank nor be populated by  drunken college kids, we discovered Mamma Grazzi's, a secluded stone building in a somewhat quieter area of the Byward Market.

We were led down a flight of stairs to the dining room area, which consisted of cozy candlelit tables and views of the patio. The space isn't overwhelmingly huge so securing a table on a busy night may entail a wait. However, the wait is justified by the well executed cuisine.

There is a large selection of pizzas and pastas to choose from. I opted for a smoked salmon and pepper pizza that was large enough for someone famished after a day of sight-seeing or small enough for two friends to share as lighter fare.

The wait staff was easy with water refills and friendly in addressing my questions. The other pizza on the table was spicy sausage and pepper. Neither pie was overpowered by cheese--  you know the type of pizza, where grease, stringy cheese and more  cheese combine into a ball of disgusting dairy matter.

Not so at Mamma Grazzi's, which demonstrates that fine pizza can be found outside of the NYC area.

Beautiful cobblestone patio. Hard to beat their patio for atmosphere as you snag a table with a great view of the 'courtyard' milieu.

And the food? Extraordinary pastas and pizza served here my favourites being the Milano, Perfetta (love the red pepper, sun-dried tomatos tartness combo) and the Katrina. Whether you enjoy cream, rose, or aglio olio style there's a pasta to suit your tastes. Service is friendly, charming and efficient but be warned they do fill up quickly during the summer months.

I went to this restaurant on a visit to Ottawa and was very pleased that
I chose it. The food is so-so, mostly pastas that are unspectacular but
not disappointing. The staff is inattentive and after we were seated we
waited for almost 10 minutes before our waitress noticed us and then it
was almost an hour before we got our food. You're probably wondering
why I think so highly of this restaurant if it has so many disappointing
qualities. Well you know what they say in real-estate---Location,
Location, Location. Mama Grazzi's is located in a cobble stone square
that has a restaurant on each side. The location is about as idyllic
as I can imagine and as the sun sets, the lights in the trees come on and
you are transported into a universe that only exists within the square.
All of this more than makes up for the lack of quality in the food and
service because you really don't mind since you are enjoying where you
    are so much.

Nice location, but mediocre food and poor service. We ordered the caprese salad and pardero pizza. First, the server brought us the wrong salad, calabrese, and then accused us of ordering the wrong salad, which we were certain that we order the caprese because we do not eat tuna. She changed the salad, but we were disappointed with the salad because it come with mostly greens and only 4 small slices of tomatoes with boccocini cheese. We felt short changed with the green being added to the salad. Then the pizza was mushy red peppers and some were even burnt. So, that was our experience. Hope this helps with your selection of restuarants.
