Toronto needs more places like this--there aren't many accommodations in Toronto that make you feel closer to nature--but this downtown Toronto bed and breakfast BOATEL rests upon Lake Ontario and somehow imparts an ambiance of peace and serenity--even though it's probably the most downtown Toronto b&b you can find! In the morning a family of swans paddled over to see if they could score a bite from our gourmet breakfast, well, of course they could!

The Making Waves Boatel comes HIGHLY recommended by me to any traveler who's a) looking for an authentic downtown Toronto experience and b) got a great sense of novelty and adventure.
The Making Waves Boatel is Toronto's ONLY boat bed and breakfast, and the MOST downtown B&B in the city. The Boatel, or 'Floatel', depending on how you like your puns, is moored at Toronto's beautiful Harbourfront Centre, and offers personalized service along with some of the best views of Lake Ontario, the Rogers Centre and the CN Tower in Toronto. Best: Owners Diane and Ted Greene, a married couple who both threw the towel in at their successful corporate careers years ago to start their downtown bed and breakfast that has attracted international guests back time and again for repeat visits. You have to experience the Boatel if you're planning on being in Toronto for one of its summertime festivals. There's nothing like being rocked gently asleep and waking up on a boat to the smell of freshly brewed coffee and Belgian waffles, Diane's specialty. Be sure to book ahead, however, as space is limited and demand is high! Read more at http://boatel.ca

The only Toronto Bed and Breakfast on a Boat located in the heat of downtown Toronto waterfront.

History

Established in 2004

Making Waves Boatel opened it's doors for business in 2004 to welcome their first guests aboard their 65 foot trawler. They remain the only Boatel in Toronto and in Ontario. They are one of two Boat B & B's in Canada.

In 2010 the Greene's decided to put the business up for sale in order to pursue more travel with a small boat. They will continue to operate the Boatel until a new owner is found.

Meet the Business Owner: Diane Greene D.

In 2004 Diane and her husband Ted Greene stepped off the corporate treadmill and created Toronto's only Boat B & B. They took early retirement from their busy fast paced careers to live a different kind of lifestyle. Today they share that lifestyle and their passion for boating with their guests aboard their 65 foot motor yacht moored at HTO Park West on Queens Quay in downtown Toronto.
