less of a crowd is always appreciated so that shoppers can shop and neither shopper or vendor is over whelmed. Glad to see these type of fairs outside the holiday season.

I loved cream puff....who says gals can't wear boxes. I didn't have enough $$$, however, just ordered off their site.

French Made Baking is always a plus when they're anywhere

Only at Make-It do you get to see unique crafters and make connections etc.

This was a great show! We went on Saturday and it was fairly crowded - even though it was such a sunny hot beautiful day out there (and so many of us might have liked to be outside!) But this show was too good to miss :-)

The Vancouver area has lots of wonderful Indie Artists!! I was surprised by how many wonderful jewellery displays there were at this show; I bought me some BLING from a couple of places: Kathy Milot brought us "Kohana" Vintage Map Jewellery (I got a silver necklace with a map of Vancouver with another pendant of a camera - how "ME" is that? I was born in Vancouver, and my family calls me "Paparazzi"!) and at Black Drop Designs where they make Photo Jewellery - and "MOM" bought a piece for my sister (Roanna) for her birthday - which excited her greatly! "Abeego" is making food wraps out of bees wax; how cool is that?! And there was LIVE music playing on stage.

There were food displays too - mushrooms, and were those gluten free sausages?

I scored me some Yelp Swag: a pin and a pen. Life is gooood! Thanks Jenna H for drumming up all the excitement in Yelp! It was so nice to meet you. And it was so nice meeting Robin, too :-)

Note: not all vendors accept credit cards; carry sufficient cash on you! You will be sorely tempted.

There was a lot of variety of prices, products and people.

Some of the art was alright, some was amazing. Some was overpriced and some was really affordable. I didnt buy anything except food.

There were some necklaces which were a respectable $12-$35 which I could totally drop on a necklace, but some were upwards of $190. The more expensive ones were absolutely gorgeous, but very ... not wearable. they were heavy, specialized pieces which if you wore too often (to get your monies worth) you would be known as "the girl in the long owl necklace" etc. Not practical.

The few local creation food booths rocked my socks off- i bought the variety pack of rubs (5 for $15 which is a great bargain)

I would be spending more money at the November event for sure, but right before summer isnt the best time, and I can't really justify buying myself all the beautiful jewelery at once.

The retailers were all very sweet and music was good; a great vibe. I am more than happy to be back in november

My first Make It, and I loved it! Soooo much gorgeous, hand made bits and pieces, I was in heaven. Had my mum been here, she would have easily spent the entire day there!

Everyone selling was super friendly, had a great chat with a t.shirt seller from Edmonton (my twin home!), bought lotsa little prezzies for family and friends, and met some fellow Yelpers (NOM food bracelet!).

    Again!

Make It is an amazing LOCALLY produced and super star packed line-up of the best crafters and artists!
You definitely get your enterance fee back in quality of exhibitors and entertainment! Live music, DJ's.......and you can have wine while you shop!...and shop you will!
Gracious vendors and unique and inspiring gifts that everyone got for Christmas in my house!!  And believe me I will be back in April for their Spring show to get my fix!

Come here if you want any DIY and locally made products!! They have stuff from earrings, to food. I love Make It! as it was the place where I met Cyndi in real life and it changed my life about Yelp!

I love the designs here a lot as there are tons of unique styles from geek to vintage to cute. I love it as it is always the period of November as I can do a lot of Christmas shopping here, and a lot of my friends love stuff like this. Too bad there wasn't anything "spiky" here I could buy as I was looking for something like that this year. None of their styles really go with the trend of high fashion, but I still like their small booths and getting to know some of the style of their products.

Make It! has also been expanded as it used to be just the regular hall, now it has an additional room on the side. It added a lot more booths, and a lot more sponsors now! I am pretty excited as this fair has grown in size within the past year! One day Croatian Culture Center can't hold the fair anymore as the size is getting bigger everyday!

Anyways, it is considered a perfect tradition to go to Make It! Vancouver every year now just to browse the little booths and to see what is being sold and to buy some Christmas presents for all my friends!! It is a must go see in Vancouver if you are in town for the weekend.

What could be better than a room full of inspiration ?!

Do you want to keep your gift buying 'off the grid' ? Well, the Make It show is the perfect opportunity to do that. It's like a veritable smorgasbord of art & craft. There's just no shortage of talent or variety, these artists are the real deal. And it's not just art, there are bakers and chocolate makers, sugary nuts and a Chai Tea lady. Hell, there's even a bar and music!

Even if you're on a tight budget there something for everyone so get over there and love it up.

You know, I normally LOVE Make It. I often find adorable baby clothes for the kids in my life, jewelry for everyone (including myself) and inspiration for crafty projects.

This year I was actually quite disappointed. As a friend aptly pointed out there were a lot of.... "dream catchers".

Now there's nothing wrong with dream catchers, I just expect a lot more diversity and skill at Make It. There were also more screen printed t-shirts than anyone would ever need.

I think there was a nice mix of some decent locally made jewellery and some nice clothes but the rest of the booths have been over done. Nothing really inspired me.

    **SHOPAHOLIC ALERT**

It was my first time at Make It and I LOVED it. EVERYTHING handmade from baby clothes, to artwork, to macaroons, to jewelry, to coasters to pencil cases. Saying that it's awesome is an understatement. As a shopaholic, I didn't realize how sick and boring retail becomes after awhile. I am so thankful I had this day to appreciate all the local indie hand-made goodness.

    My Top 3
    - Kukubee Designs - Ok I honestly felt like I was high when I was browsing their ADORABLE products. I was literally DELIRIOUS from CUTENESS. Brent and Brandi were SO sweet and definitely got a kick out of my dramatic reactions to their oh-so-kawaii items.

    - Amy Victoria Wakefield - such beautiful and captivating photography. She was so sweet and friendly- my friend didn't have enough cash and she was going to give her a major discount! Can't wait to put her photos up in my new room!

    - Bubbly Scnooks - I probably stood here, took pictures and stared for a total of 20 minutes. Favorites: "mustache-man" coaster and hand sewn bunny rabbits.

I walked away feeling inspired, appreciated and just plain satisfied- and not just in a materialistic way. ALL of the vendors were SO approachable, sweet and friendly. Each and every vendor I bought from was SINCERELY thankful. When was the last time you were shopping and walk up to the till and shyly say "I'll take this item" and the vendor flashes you a genuine smile and says "OH THANK YOU! YOU'RE SO SWEET!" .......*speechless* no... thank YOU for making such a fabulous hand-made one-of-a-kind item for ME to purchase!!

Parking was easy and FREE. huge PRO.
Thank you, Yelp for my free admission and +1.

    Next time...
More more more vendors please! (for us shopaholics) :P
I also thought more places would accept credit card... so make sure you bring your CASH next time :) of course there are ATMs on site but avoid the fee and prepare ahead!

Make it! was an amazing handmade lover's haven! Everywhere you looked there were original and exciting items from vintage jewelry to curry sauces to cute animal pillows to rustic photos of Paris... and so much more!

It felt wonderful to support these inspiring artists and admire their unique handmades - everyone was so friendly too! Can't wait for the next Make it!

Make sure you make it to Make it!  It is really an excellent cross section of local handmade  items - clothing, accessories, ceramics, glassware, jewelry, painting, prints, food.... in a really nice environment.

My wallet took a hit but I didn't mind a bit, I got some very cool things that are one-of-a-kind. I hope my friends will enjoy the birthday cards I picked up for them at Hug and Kiss Designs. Gerry-Gail at Creampuff by GG's positive energy and enthusiasm was infectious and it was a lot of fun spending time in her booth looking at her stuff (and buying it!).

Even if you just want to browse with no intention to buy anything, you will certainly enjoy yourself.

Vancouver has a thriving indie craft & design scene, and Make It is one of the big kids right at the centre of it!

So many fabulous designers and makers - some local and a few visiting from other cities - come together to give show goers an incredible selection of hand made talent all under one large roof.

Unlike other shows, the lush in me really appreciates that liquor is available while I shop for gifts and for myself (or, more likely, for me, me, me, gift, me, me, me), and with more than one day to hit the show it's easier to schedule in.

Hands down, this is a show not to be missed in Vancouver or in any of the other cities Jenna & partner in crime Chandler have expanded to.

Go! Have a blast! Buy handmade, and support local small business!

I should simply hop on the positive opinion bandwagon but I just can't.  I'm all for homegrown creativity and finding serious talent but it was utterly disappointing.

I stand firm in my appreciation of quality, local and handmade products.    I'm a proud supporter of Edible Canada and the One of a Kind Show.  I've seen stuff at those events that have blown me away and were in my books, definitely worth the price tag.  However, HB and I found Make It to be like going to a school craft fair where everything's overpriced because it's "handmade, local and one-of-a-kind" as the events website claims. Now when I read, "shop for one-of-a-kind, handmade items", I think I'm gonna find some original stuff there!  Unfortunately,  we found 3-4 booths selling the same vintage-concept pieces with the tiniest twist in detail that marks the artisan's "unique" work.  We also found an equal number of booths selling t-shirts with different sayings, socks, candles and what else have you...repeat.  In the end, we both reckon seeing mass-produced goods from China that were more unique or similar for half the cost.  In fact, walking in Alderwood Mall last weekend, my husband found a "handmade and local" product being sold at Make It at a mall kiosk as well.  Some kind of a cute panda/animal ears toque.  To be fair, when you grow up scouring flea markets in Asia like me, you will have seen everything.  And I mean, everything so perhaps I'm a bit jaded.  Those retro cover light switches at Make It? Not the first time I've seen them.  All those vintage-inspired necklace and trinkets? Again, about $2-$10 each in a Hongkong flea market.  Screen-printed underwear for $25 each? Or how about T-shirts with different cute sayings on them? Great products but I'd rather get a lot more originality for the price tag.

Don't get me wrong, they have some pretty wicked vendors there.  There's Eulalee Leather with their vintage leather bags, Sea to Sky Seasonings, French Made Production macarons, Free Lion productions with their vegan bags, the women making those porcelain jewellery and the guy who was making wallets/purses with recycled billboards (or was it plate numbers?); they were all awesome. It would be unfair to lump these great vendors with an overall dismal event.  I shouldn't complain, I cheaped out and bought one of those 2 for 1 admission deals on a deal site.  In my husband's words, "thank God you didn't spend more than $15 for admission for both of us to this thing".

There are many events in Vancouver where you can find handmade, local and one-of-a-kind and some truly original, fantastic stuff.   We both found this event to be a waste of time and money so based on this experience, I'd rather spend my time and money on events like EAT Vancouver or if you're looking for a similar "craft fair" experience, go to the One of a Kind Show in Vancouver.  Parking was horrendous as well because we went on a busy Friday night.  They do it at the Croatian Cultural Centre where you get free parking.  Awesome in theory if you get there early and if you don't mind your car in the dark (literally as the parking lot is not well-lit at all) so if the lot gets busy and your car gets scraped, good luck trying to find out who did it.

It's for some people for sure, but not me.

Absolutely incredible market! Unlike anything I've been to. Great DJ music...great people...amazing talent...so much creative eye candy....and who can forget sipping WINE while you walk to isles!!!
An absolutely on of a kind way to spend an afternoon and support local craftspeople!
I hope they have more of them so that there are great outlets for people to sell their things, but also for the city to come out and appreciate local talent! Come one come all!

I was a little underwhelmed at first, but the Make It show proved to have a lot to offer for DIYers and folks with a desire to have homemade and crafted goods.

The variety of items was great. There was an interesting vibe and mixture of people and products.

SO neat.  A craft fair falls in love with a club and the two have a magical baby called Make It!  I'm getting stoked for the next one coming up... last fall's event allowed me to browse aisles of creative shopping heaven while sipping wine and listening to a rad dj.  I must say, I was loving it.  Oh, and the chocolate samples were a hit too... mmmm... chocolate.  The funniest part of Make It were these hilariously shocking cards... I hope they're back this year.  Yep, great shopping + fun times = I am dying for the next event!!!!
