Been to Maiko a few times. This time was on a Thursday around 9. They were busy but we lucked out as there was one more table next to the window. Loud and upbeat atmosphere.
We started with a couple of Asahis. Light, crisp Japanese Beer. For starters, it was Sushi Pizza (unique with tasty smoked salmon), Tempura and Calamari were delicious . Foie Gras starter roll was good although I couldn't really taste the Foie Gras.
For main, we ordered some rolls based on recommendation and while waiting realized that maybe we ordered too much-Kamikase, Dynamite and Poulailler were all delicious. We ended up taking some of the food home.
Kitchen was closing at 9:30 so our server helped us navigate the extensive menu. He was leaving and let us know that someone else would finish the service which was a nice touch (more often this doesn't happen)
Overall, solid Sushi spot with a creative twist.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Linda T.West Oakville, Oakville, ON01145Jan 8, 2023Updated review
This has been a favourite sushi place for me for many years. They have an excellent assortment of rolls with lots of creativity and freshness! Definitely try Paradis, Quebec and L'enfer.
For those that don't love raw fish they have an extended menu of cooked dishes as well.
The ambience is great - high end Decor with great lighting, art, decor. Several different dining areas with changing vibes depending on where you sit.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Jan 6, 2023Previous reviewThis has been a favourite sushi place for me for many years. Went here on a recommendation, the recommendation came from the bartender from a pub close by. The ambiance and style is on point! It was very very busy, no tables without reservation, but plenty of room at the bar. There was a reason for that, but the food first! Ordered apps (spicy edamame and soup) that were fast and tasty! For dinner we ordered 3 rolls (tuna, salmon, shrimp) and 1 nigiri (eel). Everything came out super slow and the interval between water/drink fill was...in the 1 1/2hrs we were there only once. The rolls are spectacular, would order all three again...my nigiri never came out, even after asking and being told it's right there...We left 20mins after asking foe my roll, had to get up to cancel and request our invoice...
Would go again, but maybe Thursday is just a busy night to go! Cheers and watch where you sit!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Sergio D.St-Leonard, QC02Nov 18, 2023
Great food and service. Fresh and well prepared and presented sushi. Good for two people or with a group

One of my favorite sushi spots that never disappoints. They are the cause of their own success and really give it their all. Taste and presentation is always a five star even when taking-out.
Some of my favorite things to order: Maiko salad, paradis sushi and kamikaze.
The only thing I really miss is the proximity as they used to be on Bernard street and that's how I discovered them. Unfortunately, they closed down that location and are only in the West Island. Still grateful they are still around.
If you haven't been, check them out and order ahead of time to ensure you have the chance to explore the yumminess they have to offer.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Richard L.Saint-Laurent, QC155186Sep 28, 2022
Maiko Sushi is our place to go for special occasions. It's going to cost a bit more than some other sushi restaurants but well worth it when you want to celebrate that something special. Since we were 4, we decided to order the L'éventail de Maiko. We also ordered numerous appetizers as well as additional sushi dishes as what can we say, we love diversity. Everything was spot on, super fresh and delicious. The ambiance is perfect with dimmed lights and techno music playing all night long. All in all a fantastic experience. 4.5 stars out of 5.

This place is as good as it gets for sushi. I've previously visited the Outremont location for dinner (which I heard closed) and that was an expensive yet delicious experience.
This time, I visited the West Island location for lunch. They have great lunch specials, that comes with a soup, salad and dessert.
I got the chef's sushi special (12 pieces of absolutely delicious sushis). The only thing is that the pieces are cut too big for me but I heard you can request that they cut them smaller.
The Maiko salad is excellent and the tiny scoop of vanilla ice cream served at the end made for an excellent meal. For $35 (taxes & tips included), I thought it was worth the price. The restaurant itself is very nice and the the service is great. Will be returning.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Jovie J.Vancouver, BC147938Jan 29, 2020
I was in Montreal west, feeling Sushi and always knew of this place. I always thought it was just your regular sushi joint since it was in a plaza so didn't think much of it. After I read through the menu I found I dish worthy as an offering to God. It was called "les perles de maiko" and it combined torched salmon sushi, foie gras, and truffled mayo. A little on the pricey side but I got to split the bill so we also got the the "sushi and sashimi" lunch special and shared both worlds. The lunch special came with miso soup that tasted like all miso soup (I swear they all taste the same) and a Japanese salad that had crispy yam bits that made the salad for me. All sashimi and sushi were on point and after a bite of the "les perles".... oh my GAWD worth it.

Hands down the best sushi option in the West Island and easily top 10 in Montreal. Don't let the strip mall location fool you... everything about Maiko is A-1.
The interior decor is a trendy downtown vibe. The servers are attentive and professional. And the food is always super fresh, presented as if it was art and always delicious.
The rolls are a perfect size, the rice is not too sticky and the portions are good.
I enjoy the sashimi mainly but in the rolls mY favs are the kamikaze, bonsai and ended which is a deep fried treat. In the sashimi you have to try the Kaimin Tai which I believe is red snapper that they kill by acupuncture.... so tender, practically melts in your mouth.
Although a little on the pricier side, it is well worth it if you are looking for high quality, fresh sushi!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
