I love the lunch special and always get the butter chicken with tandoori chicken, rice and naan bread. They have the best butter chicken I've ever had and I love the naan bread as well. The samosas are pretty good but not the best I've had. At lunch time during the week it can be quite busy and sometimes it's hit or miss with quick food. The same can be said about the service and it depends who you get as a server.

Review from Heena K.
I took my parents here while I was visiting from Seattle on a Friday evening. The restaurant was busy but not every table was filled and there were ample service staff at the restaurant. Our waitress was unable to answer questions about the menu. Our questions were simple, "what kind of fish do you use in your fish curry" and "how spicy is the chicken korma dish". She was unable to answer either one and gave us a blank stare.
Our cocktails and fish pakora arrived but the pakoras were too salty to eat so we just left them on the table. Over 60 minutes went by and we asked if our dinner was going to arrive shortly, we were concerned since the table next to us was turned twice since we arrived. Our waitress forgot to put in our order. At this point it was 10pm and we just decided to pay for our cocktails and leave.
The restaurant manager told us it was a busy evening, no apology, no compensation.
The appetizer we had was very salty and inedible and the service was down right pathetic. I would not recommend this restaurant, there are alot of other great options for Indian in Surrey. Desi Junction is one I highly recommend. -

Okay, I'm an East End Boy and Michelle is a West End Girl so neither of us were thrilled to be invited to a birthday dinner way out in Surrey. The food better be worth the trip or we'd be kickin' in chairs and knocking down tables.
Well we weren't disappointed. Tucked away in one of the ubiquitous strip malls is a gem of a restaurant.
The butter chicken is some of the best I've had. The Paneer and the curried vegetables were excellent. The lamb Vindaloo was a bit salty but still very good. The brotah was almost like homemade. All of the food was worth the trip.
Only complaint was the acoustics in the private room at the back were horrible. Michelle says it was because the ceiling was too low. Or too high I forget which.
I liked Mahek so much I wrote them a jingle. Much to Michelle's chagrin I sang it all the way home:
If you're in Surrey
Don't you worry
Tasty treats await.
Go to Mahek
It's worth the trek
Their Butter Chicken's great
Okay Michelle was right. That was lame.Listed in: Indian

I am in love with this restaurant!
I live in Vancouver and I make the trek out to Surrey JUST for their food!
The look of the restaurant is very nice and clean.
The people are extremely helpful and don't laugh at you when you can't pronounce things!
Their prices are pretty good!
I usually get the lunch special which is approximately $10 dollars! It comes with 2 pieces of tandoori chicken, lots of rice, and a bowl of curry or butter chicken (your choice!). It fills you right up!
They are also able to make things mild or even spicier-just to your liking.
I definitely recommend checking this place out!
P.S. the naan bread-I can't get enough of it! -

Went here as another yelper recommended it. Got it to go.
The prices are on par with other Indian restaurants in the area.
Ordered butter paneer (basically vegetarian butter chicken) it was ok, prob the least flavourful butter sauce I have had in ages. It was too thin and there wasn't a lot of seasoning.
Also got the rav nathan vindaloo, it was also only ok. It was spicy but again other than the heat the seasoning was weak.
We ordered some naan and roti as well which again was ok.
The roti was way to thick and was dripping with oil, the naan's thickness was right but it was way too oily as well.
Overall I won't order from here again. We collectively decided it is a safe place for white people to try indian food but I prefer more authentic flavours with deeper subtleties in the flavour. -

The food really deserves 5 stars because it's really good. The flavours are just right and the spice is all balanced as it should be. My biggest qualm with this place is that their service is often not professional and the servers are not on top of their game. Half the time they don't have any idea what's going on and if your order had been taken or not. The last time I came, it also seemed like we were being rushed out of there as she kept on checking to see if we'd paid the bill so we couldn't even relax and have a decent conversation to catch up with each others lives (me and a friend I hadn't seen in a while)... So that's really what would deter me from going here the next time.
But I suppose if you're doing take out, that doesn't really matter.Listed in: A Coconut's Guide to Indian…

The food is great, I am not a big Indian food-guy but this stuff was really good. The service is okay and the restaurant is trying to establish itself as one of the funkier, cool places to go with your friends. They are almost there, the servers just need to be a little more "polished" and feel comfortable serving customers.
It can get very busy, but I usually get the take-out and am always satisfied. -

My wife and I were recommended this Indian restaurant by a friend. We have eaten there a couple of times now and we really love this place.
The food is fantastic and the staff are friendly and attentive. Our favorite dishes so far are their Butter Chicken and the Chicken Pakora appetizer. The naan is hot, fresh and delicious. I have also had their Lamb Curry which I also thought was delicious.
The prices are good and the portions are generous. It's one of our favorite places to go out to eat. The atmosphere is very nice. Dress is casual. -

second time me and my boyfriend have been here. first time for dinner we had the mahek dinner special which consisted of a chic pea curry, lamb curry, butter chicken, two pieces of tandoori chicken, rice, naan, a ginger yogurt sauce, and a cucumber yogurt sauce and for $18 after tax, it was the most filling and delicious indian meal i've ever had! the curries were delicious and the chicken was well seasoned and moist. we also had the paneer pakoras as an appy, which is absolutely amazing with the chutney sauce and green peppers. we went back today for lunch and had the mahek dinner special again, which was great and filled us up just as good as the last time. definitely will recommend this place to people that are in surrey!
