As a fan of Fabulous across the street, and always looking for perfection and a lover of NYC, I was attracted to Madison Nails based on their goal of replicating the nail shops in NYC.
I had a 10 am Saturday appointment for face waxing and a pedicure. The place is quite serene in colour and relaxing music playing. Don't let this cover fool you. This place is a seriously busy spot. I have never experienced a quicker pedicure in my life. I was not impressed. I like to truly relax and be pampered. The salon was trying to evoke that, trying very hard. But, the efficiency overshadows that.
When you are done your pedicure, you dismount from the alter you have sat, and go to a spot to have your feet placed under a dryer. You then receive a very nice shoulder massage.
However, because I was having waxing done as well, I was taken into a back room where the best facial waxing I have ever had was done. This is where precision and time was taken. There were some fine hairs that she said she could not get with waxing, so used threading. Then...loved this...she massaged my face. By doing so, my very pale sensitive skin lost its redness. She said it was due to the circulation stimulation of the massage. Wow...it was heaven!
I think I will go back to Madison Nails for my waxing, and continue with my nails across the street with the gals at Fabulous. If I was ever in a hurry and wanted my nails done (at an extremely reasonable price!!!) I would get them done at Madison, but for the relaxing unwinding experience I am looking for - Fabulous has it.Listed in: Mid Town, Wax on, wax off
