Review from Leslie S.

I have visited here many times, as I have relatives living in Whitehorse. While there, we always make a trip to Mac's Fireweed Books. It's right downtown and convenient to everything - whether you are passing through Whitehorse, staying downtown, or a resident of the area. The bookstore has a great selection of maps and many interesting books on the Yukon, First Nations and the North. They also have cards, posters, guidebooks, calendars and music, to name just a sampling of their stock. If you are traveling to Whitehorse, I recommend a visit to Mac's Fireweed Books.

Mac's Fireweed Books is an excellent independent bookstore. And it's open late for just hanging out for a nice browse. They also have an active internet business under http://www.yukonbooks.com.
In addition to a hugh magazine/newspaper and paperback book selection, it has loads of Alaska, Yukon and First Nations-related materials including an extensive selection of maps (including topo) and guides. They also sell journals, cards, and other gifts and have a nice Children's section in back.Listed in: Independent Book Stores

This is the clasic independent bookstore. It has an excellent bookstore on Yukon-related books. Great for tourists. Open late hours and has the cheapest postcards in Whitehorse.

I didn't expect to find such an outstanding bookstore in a small town. It has an especially wonderful collection of Yukon/Klondike books and materials. I fell in love with this store [and Whitehorse] and can't wait to return.
