Take it from the Newfie: NEPTUNE. BURGER. Delicious cod like nowhere else in TO.

Great pub, friendly staff, reasonable prices, cool trivia setup. Can't go wrong.

Just moved to the High Park area around Xmas, and was looking for a pub to call my local. McKenzies is the closest bar to my apartment, and being Scottish it sounded like a contender. Well I gave it 3 tries.. and it definitely struck out!

Each time I found it very 'cliquey', found the staff less than friendly and enthusiastic, and didn't feel particularly welcomed. The last time I went I thought I would try the food for the first time (since there are one good reviews here - must be from the always present regulars). I ordered the 'buffalo boneless wings'.. which I have had before at several places and enjoyed.

What a (sad) joke.. a dried out piece of chicken breast roughly cut up in cubes and tossed in some BBQ sauce accompanied by some awful fries.. Last time I will step foot in this place.

I stopped in here last night with Bestie for some drinks.  We've been meaning to try Mackenzies out for awhile as it is located very close between both our respective residences, however we always seem to end up at one of the Firkin's or Yelllow Griffin as those are our tried and true comfort zone type places. After being to MacKenzies I've learned that breaking out of the comfort zone can be something that I should do more often!

While Mackenzie's may seem like 'just another' pub it really isn't.  The service is great, the menu is pretty extensive and the feel of it is very welcoming.  Even though it was pretty crowded and people were obviously waiting for tables our server didn't try to rush us out which i liked, its always annoying when you're made to feel like you're wasting space.

It looks like this would be a scenic spot to check out during the day as the whole front wall is basically a giant window which overlooks High Park.  I'm sure I'll find some excuse to  check out MacKenzies again in the near future....

I'm lucky enough to have this as my neighborhood pub. Screw the Firkins! If you're around High Park, this is THE place to go and have a beer.

I'd say the highlights are the food and the outdoor patio facing the park. While the menu has your standard pub fare, there are a few nice surprises, like the Neptune Burger (a fillet-o-fish done right), an awesome chicken wrap and a remarkable french onion soup.

Drinkswise, the ceasar is pretty good, but they're really good at shots. If you suggest any crazy combination, they'll probably do it too. The service is always friendly and generally fast, so there isn't really much not to like.

And, of course, Mackenzie's has the huge plus of being one block from where I live, so this is has become a sure stop to start the night / end the day. Cheers!

How come it took me three months to discover this place? It's AWESOME.  I was always passing by, and saying, "oh, I should go inside". No, I shouldn't, on sunny days their patio is great!

They have a great menu and I'm yet to find something that doesn't taste delicious. If you want to stay thin, go with the MacKenzie Salad, but the awesomeness rests on their sweet potato fries basket - no disappointment here, I swear.

They're located in front of High Park, so you can go for a walk or run on weekend, feel healthy and then drink and eat without feeling so guilty.

They offer an ATM inside, but, unfortunately, no free wifi. But, after some drinks, who really cares?

As an update to my previous review, MacKenzies now has added eight new 32" flat panel TVs, with at least two equipped for HDTV near the bar.  There is free Wi-Fi, but you have to ask the servers for the password. Everything else I mentioned still stands after almost two years.

    LOVE this place.

It is my local watering hole and I can't get enough!

Beer is always cold, the food is amazingly consistent and the vibe is great.

Patio is a little small and is impossible to find a table but that would never keep me from getting a table inside to enjoy a club sandwich!!!

Euchre tourney on tuesday nights is a blast, would recommend to anyone who is in the area and wants a chill little hang out.
