Do you come here when you need to find a bedspread to match the curtains? No. Do you come here to find demure, classic inspiration for an elderly-aunt-friendly guest room? No. Do you come here to find dazzling signature pieces that grab your attention like a discount diva on a pair of half-off Seven jeans? Heck yes, you do.

This three-story house on Birmingham is tucked away like a interior design treasure trove for the HGTV-obsessed in the know. Each floor is customized to show off the ever-changing inventory so you can see what pieces look like in all their glory rather than just another couch in a warehouse. Rooms are painted and repainted for show, art is paired with lamps, chairs, and rugs, and friendly staff give you your space to swoon while they hunt for upcoming trends to bring to Halifax.

While some pieces do have the price tags that go along with unforgettable home décor, there is a really nice balance of sale items that make fashionable living more than accessible for any walk of life. Students? Stop buying art at Winners and Home Outfitters and get something unique here for even less. Seriously. Do it or I'll punch you.

    Not really.

M Home is modern, M Home is retro, M Home is avant-garde, and M Home is to die for.

While wondering up Birmingham St, the sidewalk was filled with this inviting furniture. There were three great green velvet chairs sitting outside, a fantastic leather chair, and one very odd looking wooden chair. These peaked my interest enough to to inside.

If I were in the market for some really neat furniture , I would go here. They have unique pieces and are really nice quality. There was a fantastic burnt orange leather couch as you go in, and here is a change, the sign on the wall actually says," Please sit on our furniture", that is a first for sure.

There is not a lot of room to move around in here, however there are a few levels to the shop. Each item is strategically placed and looks great, there was a neat chair by Musical Chairs. I do not think that you would have to worry about going to the neighbours and seeing the same piece of furniture or maybe lamp, art work, tables, etc.

The prices here are a little more than some would like, but they were having a sale and I thought the prices were reasonable. The green chairs I was referring to were on sale for $139.00 reg $250.00.

The staff here were young and fun, very laid back and helpful. It is a great store.

The hot weather has had me on tour, and my recent stop into M Home Design was one worth wandering.

Discretely placed on Birmingham Street, it was the outside chairs and large sandwich sign that pulled me in. The space appeared cramped and cluttered, although filled with exquisite bouts of furnishings and decor. The lack of space was a definite womp, but the selection of product told me this business was one that knows their stuff.

To my surprise, the back of the shop opened up to another set of stairs, and a succession of two upper floors. My first impressions are squished to the floor! The remainder of the store is decorated in splendor. With several rooms within rooms, M shows off its design skills AND product by creating a series of design schemes in various styles. Gorgeous Victorian Chic, clean minimalism, modern shapes with color bursts-- the entire store gives clear vision and a real life setting for their product.

I enjoyed browsing through, as the house-trance music buzzed through the background. A pricey spot, but its all high quality digs. If you are in the market for a revamp, M can provide the design services and fine product under one roof.

This is definitely the best place in halifax for modern furniture that is of good quality and reasonably priced.  The buyers for the store do a great job of picking pieces that are beautiful, well made and affordable.  Modern design is an expensive habit and I find that at M Home they do a good job of editing out the "big names" for big names sake.  They only have the best and do have offerings at several price points.  I have purchased several things from here, and gotten my mother hooked too!
