Review from Leif P.
Woodinville, WA
One of our best-loved restaurants for many years.
We went again recently for a birthday dinner. I went oh-so-traditional french (foie gras, onion soup, lamb in sauce Robert, chocolate mousse cake) and it was my best meal of the year, easily. The food is great, the staff is kind (although the new busboy was a bit chatty, but I'm sure he'll get the hang of it before long) and it's altogether a beautiful romantic little corner unexpectedly hidden off the main drag.
Mind you, I've had some truly memorable meals here over the years from the less traditional options on the menu - many of them involving lovely floral notes in the saucing or composition, which has been a unique aspect of her cooking I've enjoyed.
It's not pretentious or stuffy, very laid-back, but still with good service and great food. A great place to ease into the idea of fine dining. -
Review from Karen L.
I had brunch here with my lovely ladies. We came on a Sunday around 11 and it was pretty empty. The place is cute and small. The meal came with pastries and fruit, and the mini croissants were especially delicious.
I had the dungeness crab omelette, which tasted good, but the eggs were kind of runny. However, it lacked flavor so I wasn't too impressed. The price wasn't too bad, considering the meal comes with pastries and fruit.
The ladies and I weren't too impressed, but I'll probably bring my BF next time to try their crepes, and then come back again to try their 3-course dinner (I definitely can't wait to try their French onion soup!). -

I came here for a friend's birthday.
The restaurant itself is very cute and intimate. Great place to have a date.
I had the french onion soup, duck breast, and the chocolate mousse cake. The soup was really good. The duck breast was good too -- it was served in some sort of sauce with veggies (zucchini, yum!) and scalloped potatoes. I think the cake was a little too rich for my taste, but that is just me.
They have a 3-course meal for $30 or $40 (appetizer, entree, dessert) or you can order a la carte.
Overall, great place! I highly recommend. -

Kirkland, WA
Last night of Restaurant week and we really wanted to check out another restaurant, but were too lazy to head to Seattle. Luckily this cute little French Bistro was near by.
The place is TINY, seriously, get reservations. I think it only seats 36 people, and there seemed to be like 3 parties of 6+ people when we were there. It seems like more of a family restaurant than a "romantic" dinner spot. It seemed weird how many children were there, but then again, I'm just not a fan of children.
The service was fantastic though, everyone was super kind and attentive, they really knew what they were doing, which sometimes, sadly, you don't see in "fancier" restaurants around here. My first job was at a Country Club, so even though I am not a fancy diner usually, when I go to a fancier restaurant, I am a stickler for the "rules". This place passed my test.
It turns out the Restaurant Week 3 courses for $28 isn't a very good deal because they have nightly prix fixe 3 courses for $30 or $40, but some of the items from the $40 menu were included. We both started with the French Onion Soup which was good, but not the best ever. There was lots and lots of cheese, which I am definitely a fan of, but the cheese was a little burnt around the edges.
I ordered the Pork tenderloin with a passion fruit sauce which was really delicious, it came with a potato pancake, which I thought was a bit weird at first, but I ended up really liking. My date had the crab cakes, which he said were fine, but not that great(for full disclosure, he is from Maryland, and crab cakes and football are what Maryland does).
We had the Chocolate Mousse cake and a creme caramel for dessert, the mousse was very good, but a bit rich, so we ended up just sharing it. The Creme caramel though, is similar to a flan, and honestly, I wasn't impressed, I have had better flan for sure.
They also have a pretty extensive, reasonably priced wine list. It may not be the best Bistro I have ever been to, but it's nice to know we have a cute, good place in downtown Kirkland. -

Absolutely fantastic French cuisine! We had the duck breast and lamb, my friend said these two are their signature entree, the chicken liver pâté and escargot are truly mouth watering appetiters. The dining room is kind of small but nice and clean, the atmosphere is good and the waitress service is 5 stars.

I came here when the restaurant was closed to the public for a private wedding. It was my first time here and I am dying to come back again.
The food was delicious. They had prepared a lovely menu for the evening and nobody was disappointed with the food. The service was incredible as well. The staff made sure everything was perfect from the lighting to the music to keeping all the glasses full all the while remaining invisible and out of the way.Listed in: Food

For food I give it a 5 star, but for atmosphere and interior I give it a 3-4 star.
The crab cakes were amazing, the best I've ever had. Service was great and overall experience was good.
I just wish it was a bit more hip and updated in the interior.... -

wow, they opened on Xmas night!!
Again very solid quality and great price, 3 course prix fixe menu for $30 or $40 (usually this is Seattle Restaurant Week, etc price), still great variety of choice and they allow to do mix and match..
The restaurant is small, romantic but not too intimidating as fine dining ones. Great for dating.1 Previous Review: Show all »

Decent food.
Atmosphere is pretty casual and prices aren't too bad.
I had the foie gras (good), the spinach salad w/pear (too much dressing imo but enjoyed the grilled pear combo), crab cakes (rich salty and moist), and creme brulee (rich) with a glass of the Chateau. The pacing of the meal was nicely done and the presentation was nice. It all had a fancy home-cooked feel to it, rather than a fancy restaurant feel.
Decent French. I'm visiting so I'm not really sure how it compares to the rest of the area. Service was decent too. I wouldn't mind coming again but it wouldn't be the 1st on my list. -

Yummmmm! That's really all I have to say.
The "famous" french onion soup is heavenly. And I don't even like onions! We ordered off the fixed price menu that came with an appetizer, main dish, and dessert for each person. Good portions and good foods.
Docking one star because parking will be hard on busy days since its street parking only. -

our favorite Seattle restaurant (so far, at least)... been here 3 times in the last few months... their onion soup is wonderful,... have had the rack of lamb twice. nicely done in a tasty sauce. last time my wife had the scallops special-- perfect,... the sides are great too, vegetables and cheesy potato slices.. very, very fresh.... we'll be going often i imagine....

Seattle, WA
If you want French cuisine on the Eastside, this is the only option of which I am aware. It is an excellent restaurant, its dishes are reasonably priced, its servers are attentive, and I will never return. More on why directly.
The physical space is so small it makes me feel big and obtrusive and clumsy. But then, I am big and obtrusive and clumsy. The spacing between tables is pretty intimate, so you don't want to bring a first date here; everyone will hear your conversation. The wine list is really very good, hitting every price point, with not a bad glass to be had. The smoked salmon is perfect. So are the Dungeness crab cakes. Oddly, though, the French onlon soup is inferior to anything I've cooked up in my own kitchen. It bears no comparison at all with same offering from Cafe Presse or Le Pichet.
As to why I'll never return. Well, I am, by birth, a W.A.S.P. It isn't my goddamn fault, so it seems just, I guess, that on an average day, I'm able to perambulate in the world without having this inconvenient fact rubbed in my face. But that's exactly what happens here. It's so W.A.S.P.y that throughout the whole meal, you sit there thinking: so these are my fucking people, huh.
Not pleasant. -

I love Lynn's Bistro. Boyfriend and I always order off of their $30 menu as there's enough tasty things on there that we haven't felt the need to look at other things. So far everything we ordered was absolutely delicious. For what you get $30 is a fantastic deal. We've been there maybe 5 times now since I discovered it not long ago. When my coworkers and I were thinking of a place to go I recommanded this place and they all loved it too. Sometimes it's hard to get seated as the place is totally packed (it's a small place) so try to go during non peak time if you can. And it will be worth it.

Review from Cora L.
This place is simple, and elegant. Nothing fancy, just subtle pastel walls with fake plants, and a dim candlelit ambiance.
If you want a nice, calm atmosphere for dinner, this bistro is perfect. Everyone speaks in low voices and most are 40+ lol. Perfect date place!
The bread was good. Like really good. As was the Chicken Liver Pate. I think the Pate was easily my favorite thing, and the portion was surprisingly generous. The dish came with two triangles of pate, and my friend and I couldn't even finish one of the triangles. Definitely good stuff though.
I ordered the swordfish and I didn't really like it. You know when you go to a restaurant and you order something that sounds interesting, then after you've given up your menu you realize that you've had something similar before and didn't like it? That's exactly what happened.
I tried the Duck Breast, and that was not bad but not something I would order. I'm rating this 4 stars because the service was great and the Chicken Liver Pate was excellent. While I'm sure I know people who would enjoy this place I'm not sure I would go back. Actually, I'd probably try someplace different. -

Federal Way, WA
I was intrigued by the high ratings but a bit disappointed when I finally got a chance to dine there.
The interior is very simple, nothing fancy, it has a romantic feel with dim light candles.
The bread here came with butter, nothing special. I like the bread and seasoned olive oil at Chez shea much better.
Ordered the onion soup, but got a clam chowder instead.
The steak was cooked just right, it has the right amount of sauce. The meat however doesn't taste high quality. And the sauce just doesn't have enough kick to it. A bit more seasoning would have been better. The veggie that accompany it doesn't fare much better.
Dessert: Lemon tart has nice presentation. the consistency was good, but I couldn't finish it because it was too sour.
I would say that Lynn's Bistro would be better if the quality of ingredients like fresh vegetables and better choice meats were used.
Service was slow and they got my order wrong. -

First time and very impress by the sauce which was with my ribeye. It lighted the flavors of the side and the meat. We will be back soon and often. The $30 menu is a good deal

Review from Ken L.
This cannot be a 4.5 star rated restaurant. I was intrigued by the high ratings as well as the availability of escargot. There's no way that I would have known this place was here unless I really looked for it or searched for it on the web. It is a small but cozy restaurant located in a strip mall along Central Way in Kirkland. Inside, romantic setting and dim lit decor is inviting and has about 12 tables. I think they are closed on Monday and open the rest of the week in the evenings from 5 PM to 9 or 10ish. I went for the $30 grand prix where you get a choice of soup/salad, entree', and dessert. I also added an appetizer.
The bread was hot and came with butter. The bread is not the typical French bread, rather it tasted like a cross between a scone and biscuit. The bread crust broke off like a biscuit and the inside is more scone-like where the crumbly inside was not the light chewiness of its French counterpart.
Escargot: $14 for escargot. High priced, rubbery tasting and did not come with any of the crispy starch offerings like crispy toast points or the like.
Salad: Spinach salad. Decent tasting with a raspberry vinigrette. Greens were "soft/soggy" tasting but acceptable overall flavor.
Entree': Ribeye (medium rare). The sauce and method of preparation was excellent BUT the poorest selection of meats. The peppercorns cooked in gravy complimented the steak well with the grilled mixed veggies and delightful potatoes au gratin (not too cheesy and thin sliced = perfect). If only the quality of meat was better, this main meal would have been excellent.
Dessert: Creme brulee' nicely made. Still think the creme could be thicker.
I would say that Lynn's Bistro would easily be able to provide the 4 to 5 star rating IF the quality of ingredients like fresh vegetables and better choice meats were used. Total bill was $55 for all of the above including tip. -

Went there with a couple of friends and tried their Seattle Restaurant week menu. Atmosphere was cozy and somewhat romantic and I was a bit surprised that it was a french influenced place considering the chef/owner was asian (Vietnamese probably).
Food was hit or miss, my friends ordered the crab cakes which were just ok, my steak however was phenomenal especially with the brandy peppercorn sauce. Everyone at the table thought that was the best item we collectively ordered. -

**FYI - My husband wrote this because he doesn't have a Yelp account. He can be a bit harsh at times, but sadly I agree with his review. But since I always try to include positive things - I will say that the french onion soup was amazing. Okay. Now here's what he had to say......
Went there tonight for our Valentine's night out ( we are both working tomorrow). What stood out was the blandness of the meal. We had the filet mignon and rack of lamb (both medium) - neither of which had any flavor. How can lamb and filet mignon be cooked in such a way that they lose all flavor? I just can't fathom it especially after paying $30 & $29 a plate respectively. I've eaten lamb in many restaurants around the world, I've eaten 100's of home cooked lamb dinners by a mom who insists on cooking meats until they are burnt, yet this is by far the least enjoyable and tasteless lamb meal I have ever experienced!! To be honest I would not have paid $5 for the lamb or the steak - bland is bland. The restaurant needs to buy better quality meat, and add a little seasoning - rosemary, mint, thyme any one will do!! We will certainly give Lynn's Bistro a miss in the future. -

It doesn't look like it from the outside, but this is an elegant restaurant that serves a very easy-to-like French menu of dishes. I admire the attention they pay to details, down to the bread and the potatoes that came with my main course. Sunday brunch is very good here, with the crab omelette being one of the best breakfast dishes I have had. The onion soup is not too salty and seasoned just right, which is actually rarely the case in other more established French restaurant.

Bon'jour!
It's rare that I get the chance to sample French food. Paris is one the places in Europe I want to travel to because it is the city of love. I really do enjoy crepes, escargot, French bread, and macarons...but isn't there more to that?
Lynn's Bistro is where I went for dinner on a Friday night with my parents. Because this was our first time at the restaurant, we weren't sure what to order. Doing what we always do, we asked our server for recommendations and what is most popular. In the end, we ordered: escargot, dungeness crab cakes, and tiger prawns.
Initially, we each decided on a dish, but ended up sharing...
I chose the dungeness crab cakes...MISTAKE. They were not very good. The crab cakes were teeny tiny too. What's up with that? I felt like the crab was thin and scarce as well. There wasn't a lot of breading or anything, the ratio was just off.
My mother chose escargot. This, I thought was pretty tasty. Each buttery, with a little bit of a bite, and savory. Delish.
Father ordered the tiger prawns. This came with an interesting coconut curry sauce. It was an overall good dish, but the shrimp was kind of tough. Unacceptable.
I hear the chef here is Asian, and I saw her in the open kitchen. What a shame, she was so incredibly cute!
I don't know if I'll be back...maybe it was just an off day for Lynn.
If I do come back, I'll be trying their French onion soup, chicken pate, grilled pear and spinach salad, and saute chicken breast.
Brunch is available as well! -

I went here during Seattle restaurant week. I ordered one of their salads as an appetizer and it was delicious!! I don't know what it was called but it had honey walnuts in it. i felt that I could eat that salad all day-the dressing on it was amazing.
I then had the crab cakes as my main entree. It was full of crab, but I couldn't eat much of it because mine turned out to be very salty. I was disappointed. My bf had the rib-eye and it was good.
I had the creme brulee for dessert and enjoyed it very much.
I would recommend this place.
You have to make reservations, because this place is tiny. -
Review from Amy B.
I'm really saddened that I didn't get to experience the same rave that most Yelpers have enjoyed after dining at Lynn's. I thought the place was merely.. "meh." Could it be because my date and I opened the place on a lazy Sunday morning? Because reaaally? It was 11am! Portage Bay is packed on weekend mornings! Chace's Pancake Corral is hopping. Why not Lynn's Bistro?!?
We walked into Lynn's as the first guests of the morning and I must admit, I felt a bit akward. I thought: maybe it best we take a stroll around the block and come back in a few. Instead, the pleasant waitor promptly greeted us from across the room and offered us a table of our choosing, completed the setting of our table and brought us pastries straightaway.
I enjoyed the French pastries but I don't know that they were fresh-fresh and some were a little burnt. They were a fun addition to the meal and I like that butter and jams were included. I think they might add an extra star to my review if they were delectable and fresh daily.
As per the meal itself, I came thinking a croque-mosieur or a croque-madame sounded fantastic. What better place to order one for brunch than a French Bistro? Disappointment again! Unfortunately, I was told they were out of the bread to make it and I don't even recall that they had croque-anything on the menu. They were however kind enough to substitute some other bread and make something similar, but I was a little dismayed that both the item I wanted and the menu selection my date wanted were not in the kitchen. Bummer!
Lastly, I might add, I had the distinct feeling that the chef walked into the kitchen not long before we walked into the restaurant. I don't like that feeling! It made me feel as though I were early to an event that I should be arriving late to. You know? And when you don't have brunch items on the menu, I feel like I should be asking you: so then, what do you have? And I don't like that from a moderate-to-expensively priced restaurant at all.
I'm so not impressed. I thought brunch would be great but it was a terrible miss! -
Review from Chris O.
Wow what a treat. Nice ambiance, small, cozy, nice but not stuffy. Good service, strange yet clean restroom.
The food is the reason to come here. It's consistently great. Here's how we liked our Valentine's Day dinner:
9 bread (hot and moist)
9 french onion soup (fondue-like in a way)
8 grilled pear salad
9 filet of beef (perfect medium)
9 lobster in saffron sauce (no shell which is convenient)
9 scalloped potatoes (with both entrees)
9 veggies (with both entrees)
9 ice cream crepes - huge, enough for 2 people
Great sauces on the entrees. We've only been here once but plan to go back. Street parking worked ok for us even on a busy night like tonight. Make reservations.
Good, slow-paced (this is French after all) friendly service.
I'm not sure I found the Asian-fusion part... I love Asian food but it seemed more French-American to me.
They had a good Heffeweisen which surprised me.
$120 with no wine, 2 desserts, after tax, before tip. -
Review from Tonya N.
Just went here for a quick dinner and i left thinking... what happened? Reviews are great... I will start with the highlights: very kind quiet service, cute restaurant, the French onion was nicely done, very hot almost too hot of bread, but soft and good butter. The Chocolate Mousse cake was perfectly sweet, nice white chocolate raspberry sauce, almost like a ganache. I enjoyed that quite a bit.
The Lows: the main entrees quality were actually quite poor. I would prefer much smaller portions but higher grade meat. Average pate, nothing stands out there. We had the rib eye and crab cakes which were recommended by the waiter. I did find 2 or 3 crab shells which is a major pet peeve for me. I understand this is a french restaurant but I feel it's wanting to be one. It didnt have the authenticity I was hoping for. I do think this restaurant deserves a try as we may have not ordered well, however I do feel that for the price/reviews, there should not be any major misses and both our entrees were. Possibily it was an off night. -

This is a very nice Bistro in Kirkland downtown. My bf and I ordered escargot, the crab salad, and I ordered the duck breast, and my bf ordered crab cakes. OMG! the duck came w/an OSM wine sauce, and the duck was perfectly cooked. The crab cake was full of real crab meat. Very nice. And for dessert I got crepes, and white chocolate bread pudding.
I would totally recommend this place for a date or a nice quiet dinner. Better be early coz it was packed by 630pm
Service was great as well. -

Oh, five dollar mimosas!
Oh, those warm pastries and tiny croissants that magically appear on your table, though, you never ordered them!
Oh, the same goes with the bowl of fresh fruits that crouches to your table. I feel loved already.
And oh, of course, the the the the... *inhales. exhales* the salmon benedict with lobster sauce that melts in your mouth.
Oh, wonderful owner-chef, who has magical hands and everything she cooks is sooo good, so tasty.
I love Sunday brunch here. I have to try dinner too. -

I went to Lynn's a week ago as part of Seattle Restaurant Week. Normally I write reviews much sooner but I've had a hard time knowing how to rate Lynn's. It definitely was a 4 or 5 star, I just couldn't decide which.
I think when it comes down to it, if I want French cuisine on the eastside I will definitely be heading to Lynn's. But I still don't think anything beats Chez Shea in the greater Seattle area (I haven't been to Rover's yet).
The reasons this place is great are also it's downfalls. First of all it's a good French restaurant in Kirkland. But that means that you are going to this super nice French restaurant on Central Way which isn't exactly my vision of a picturesque street. And while it is small and quaint the tables feel a bit too squished together. And the service has that Kirkland feel - friendly and capable but not mind blowing.
The food is very good though. I was very happy with everything we were served. The escargot was good, the salad was good, the crab cakes were good, and so was everything else. Even the bread was good. They seemed to have a knack for doing any dish well. But I didn't have anything where I felt it was the best example of the that plate that I had ever had.
I'll definitely be back here and can definitely say I am a fan, but I would have a hard time telling someone to come here over Chez Shea unless they are on the eastside. But if you are looking for something different than the typical downtown French restaurant that still serves good food this is your place.Listed in: Dine Around Seattle and…

The first time I had the french toast, upon first bite I fell into a food gasm. It's one of those things you can't help you know? Sometimes things just happen, for the better. Either way I wasn't complaining.
The french toast was and is amazing, which makes for mouth watering memories that fill my brain whenever I think of Lynn's french toast. It's more custardy and rich than anything.
Go for brunch because Lynn serves fresh mini pastries with each entree (croissants, chocolate croissants and scones) that are to die for. They're amazing when they're warm.
The service is pretty good, usually there's only one server and Lynn in the restaurant so you can't really expect someone to be at your table 24/7 but it's still good service. It's good because you don't constantly have someone badgering you while you're trying to enjoy your meal and the company your with.Listed in: Best French Toast

5 STARS!!!
I will definitely come back. The price is great, the food is delectable and the service is among the highest!
I came here for Sunday dinner and ordered the Grilled Pear and Spinach salad, Filet Mignon and fruit Crepe. Each and every one of them is very savory and fresh. The salad had just the right raspberry vinaigrette, the steak perfectly made to my tastebuds and the crepe was ORGASMIC and well-balanced w/ plenty of fruit and vanilla. I am a health nut who eats organic and I can tell the difference in the incredients they use. I found myself resisting the urge to grunt I loved it so much!
The price is flexible. If you go with the 3-course meal it's only $30. For the price and quality, you can't get any better than this!
The service was pleasant. The waitress always refilled our waters, asked how we liked the food and always very courteous and willing to accommodate. The chef even came out just to introduce herself and ask for any specific accommodations. She has a very sweet and humerous personality. It's amazing there were only 2 chefs working w/ 20+ people in the restaurant. They are skilled chefs man!
Based on intimate and superb service, palatable and freshness of food and the price I GIVE LYNN'S BISTRO 5 STARS AHHHHHH!! -

A very good restaurant in the middle of Kirkland.
My wife and I went there for a quiet no-kids lunch. Lynn's came through. I had the sandwish special -- a ham and brie creation that was magnificent and far better than I expected. My wife had the seafood quiche; the filling was very good and the pastry (which makes or breaks a quiche) was to die for. The salads (she had greens, I had spinach) were both excellent.
I'd never been to Lynn's before and was very pleasantly surprised. It is difficult to find a restaurant that serves a great lunch (which is NOT just dinner with smaller portions) and Lynn's came through.
The ambience is very relaxing -- think laid-back tea room -- and I did not feel that the dining room was too crowded or that the tabes were too close together.
I hear that their brunch is amazing and will be back for that as well. -

My most favourite restaurant.
The service is excellent and so charming. They really remember you, and take the time to chat for a moment.
Last time we were there, in was so nice to see so many older couples come in who seemed to be regular couples.
If you can't get to France, this is the next best thing. -

Went here last night and had a really great meal with my date. Lynn's is a cute little hole-in-the-wall in downtown Kirkland where the emphasis is clearly on the food and not the decor (although it's nice enough inside) - which is pretty rare on the eastside!
We ordered:
Escargot
Fried goat cheese salad w/ grapefruit dressing
Venison with blueberry reduction
Duck with cherry reduction
Strawberry crepe
Hazelnut / chocolate Charlotte
It came to around $110ish + tax and tip, excluding wine.
The food was all delicious, the service was excellent - even though it was completely packed because of Valentine's Day weekend, and we had a really great time. The portions were on the generous side compared to similar restaurants and the price was pretty reasonable, considering the quality. It was a great dining experience and I'm sure we'll be going back again in the future! -

EXCELLENT!
I opted for a prix fixe dinner on a nice, sunny Sunday evening. I had escargot in a butter and garlic sauce, crab cakes with potatoes gratin and vegetables, creme brulee with fresh berries, and a glass of red. I ate every last morsel.
Everything was clean and organized. Service was exceptional. Lynn even came out to greet me after my meal. Yes, it is a small restaurant, but the cozy atmosphere really gives the place a special charm.
I will definitely be back... possibly for brunch. -

Crab cakes are wonderful. They are mostly crab compared to breading at many other places. I also like the $10 lunch specials they have on weekdays when they are not very crowded.
The duck leg confit was to die for, and the quiche was perfect. And I love their soups, despite the obviously high cream content that is to die for -- maybe literally :) -

A great little place! Good for a romantic dinner, but even better for dinner with a small group of friends. The owner/chef is very friendly. The last time we were there, one of our friends was able to get a recipe and lead on some excellent fresh fish.
As good as their dinner is, I really go for their breakfast (hopefully they still serve this!). You get some fresh pastries with every order, and their unique omelets are absolutely delicious. -

This is my favorite place on the eastside. It is small and the word has been getting around so it has been getting harder to get into. The food is fantastic and the general feeling of the place is elegant. Great place for 2-4 people to have a memorable meal.
