I love Lux. They offer a unique range of hard-to-find products (Farmhouse Fresh body care, RGB nail colour, Terax conditioners and shampoos) plus some more mainstream brands (Stila makeup, Voluspa candles, and Bumble & bumble hair products). I always get greeted with a friendly hello, get great service when I ask for it, and leave happy. A trip to Lux is always an indulgent treat!

Unfortunately, Lux is not a unique beauty boutique. Stila is sold as the premiere cosmetic line in Lux which is a middle of the road (you can buy Stila on the Shopping Channel for heavens sake...for much cheaper....).
Bumble & Bumble is a very good and expensive hair care line, but if you want to peruse it, get ready to bend over or lay down on their floor to see it because the products are not conveniently displayed which is a problem with many of the items in this store: this boutique is just plain cramped!
As for perfume, the only special and unique line was Tocca....which is also sold at Sephora and Murale.
Lux proudly displays their Marvis toothpaste boldy by their cash register - Marvis has been around for years and years beautynistas...Lux if you want to set yourself apart from the rest, you are going to have to find the beauty 'finds' in places like Japan, Brazil, Spain, Korea, Denmark, Iceland, etc...
When I was at Lux, I was served by the most miserable gal ever! This was before Xmas 2011, I purchased two of the Clarsonic delicate brush heads and she could not wait to toss me out of the store!
Small beauty boutiques like Lux can have a tough time with the likes of Sephora and Shopper's Drug Mart Beauty Boutique but single minded people like Space NK from the UK (Nikki) proved that a solo beauty boutique can tackle the biggies! -

I feel like these reviews are biased. Lux sells nothing hard to find (like another reviewer mentioned). I personally would love to see more unique Canadian brands in the mix. There's truly nothing in the shop that makes me want to waste my time looking for parking. I'm so tired of boutiques claiming they carry "hard to find cult brands" when all they carry is Cake and the same mass market garbage that everyone else carries. Skip this place and find cooler brands online!

I had the pleasure of having a makeover party at LUX last night with 4 girlfriends and my mother. The store owner, Jenn, was really down to earth and really listened to our concerns and individual questions regarding skin care and makeup.
Our party was held after the store closed and went until about 8pm. We all received individual beauty consultations and makeovers! I had recently discovered this hidden gem thanks to Sarah W's rave review! I had "liked" them on facebook and discovered a little contest they were having for a makeover party and I won - What a great way to get introduced to Lux!
With an abundance of high end luxury items and helpful staff - it would be easy for a girl to drop a few hundred dollars in this store in the blink of an eye!
They were currently running a promotion on my favorite makeup line - Kiss Me/Blinc so I was super excited to Buy 2 Get 1 Free of their fabulous mascaras and even discovered they also carry eyeliner and brow mouse. If you haven't tried Kiss Me/Blinc - you're in for a treat! it's unlike anything else on the market. Sephora only carries their mascara in black but Lux had colors ranging from dark brown to green! Sweet!
While the store itself may be a little small square footage wise - Jenn has really made it feel airy with beautiful decor - turquoise and white patterned wall paper, a chandelier by the front till, and lots of natural light!
I also found out that you can book individual makeup consultations for $40 which is redeemable towards store product!
This little hidden gem of a store was such a delight to discover! I can't wait to go back!

I fall in love with LUX everytime I go. They've been throwing a lot of fun events that are related to great charities and causes, and it's a wonderful excuse to go out for a good cause and buy some pamper-yourself products. They've started up a Facebook page, a twitter account and a beauty blog, so you are always in the know.
The only thing that makes me sad about this boutique is it's limited hours. The only night it's open past 5PM is Thursdays, which can make it tricky for me to visit as often as I like. But being a small business, I can appreciate that Jenn sets hours that work for her, and allows her to put on lots of special events and work on getting great stock in!1 Previous Review: Show all »

This great beauty store is part of the adorable High Street area, and it's a perfect fit for a gal out on a midday downtown shopping trip.
The staff here were very friendly and looked like they enjoyed working there. The store itself is both beautiful, eclectic, fun and IT SMELLS SO GOOD. Every wall and shelf is crammed with boxes and bottles of shampoos, lotions, etc. They even have fancy and trendy items like the famous "3 free" nail polishes that are non-toxic. (Hello, featured in GOOP!)
It's not a big store, but I found myself sticking around for quite a while simply because there are so many products. The two girls working were quite happy to have me browsing and answer any questions I might have.
I found this shop a bit lacking on the make-up side, with a lot more emphasis on soaps, lotions, and the like. On the other hand, the soap/lotion selection is pretty much to die for, and my favourite B Kamins product is cheaper here than at Sephora! -

LOVE LOVE LUX!
I agree they're down to earth....they have many coveted brands for skin care/beauty....their range is amazing, from the basics to decadant luxurious pampering things...Holly is super helpful & knows what she's talking about.
The new space is well organized & beautiful to look at (not to mention how scrumptious the place smells). It is a bit crowded but who can complain with all the selection they provide?!
I don't find the prices here any higher then say Sephora - and the service at Lux is astronomically better then Sephora's. -

The women at Lux know what they sell and are incredibly down-to-earth and helpful too!
Lux staff try all of the products, the management is always looking for the newest and best and there's a lot of hard-to-find products that you may not otherwise have access to (aside from ordering online).
The space is welcoming and aside from when it's really busy, there's always someone there to help you with whatever you're looking for, whether it's skincare or something to make you look or smell even prettier. You can't help but feel cheerier by the time you leave! -

Lux Beauty is a local cosmetics shop. They carry high-end beauty brands such as Principessa, Bliss, and Bumble and Bumble.
Whatever you need for your beauty regimen, they have it. They have quality hair straighteners, shampoos and conditioners, even hair perfume (which apparently works better than normal perfumes).
They have rows and rows of fragrances, body lotions and creams, and of course, the make-up. I really wanted to get a brow color compact, but I just couldn't bring myself to spend $50 on it. They also have a great line of nail lacquers called 3Free London, but I was astounded to see that it was about $20 per bottle. Yikes! On the other hand, if I remember correctly, I think the label said it was paraben-free ... so I guess you would be purchasing organic nail polish, if there is such a thing.
Lux Beauty also carries a few items for men, such as shaving creams and gels, and essential shaving tools.
It's a candy store for anyone who's really into makeup. I love makeup just as much as the next girl, but I'm not willing to spend that much on it! -

Lux is a premier cosmetic and beauty product shop that carries high end beauty lines including Bliss, Bumble and Bumble, and a very nice men's skincare and shave line. They have everything you could possibly need to pamper your princess self including shampoos, fragrances, lotions, creams and bath products. I picked up some bath bombs that look like cupcakes and smell just as good. I have shot my water bill through the roof thanks to the dramatic increase in baths thanks to these tasty looking treats!
Lux has a temporary home in Ginger just down the block from their usual location. They will be there until at least after Christmas. Check them out for a beauty treat! -

I enjoy shopping or just browsing at LUX. It smells heavenly in there as well.
They are located in one of my favourite shopping districts in the city and I love the atmosphere. The have a lot of great unknown brands that I have never seen anywhere else.
I go to them for my Mario Badescu items and can always find something else to buy when I'm there.
If you are looking for any kind of body products for a gift, you will find very unique, quality items at LUX. -

A great, locally owned find! They carry a huge selection of beauty products,and a lot of hard to find brands. Some of their products seem a bit pricier than comparable products elsewhere, but it's worth heading over for advice from the staff.
They have a great stamp card system (spend $200, save $20 off the next purchase). But just like at other locally owned shops, watch the return policy- it can get sticky! -

Lux just makes me so happy! Not only are they always so sweet and helpful but I always leave feeling so content and fulfilled with my cosmetic purchases. Lux offers the best selection in town of hard to find beauty and body products. I really love Princepessa and I think I may be clinically addicted to the smell! I guess there are worse vices one could have, right?!
Now that Ginger and Lux are sharing a space you can indulge all your girly pleasures in one stop! -

After working for MAC for two years it's refreshing to go into a one-off beauty boutique and get quality service (which i always gave) and helpful advice. It's freeing to buy products because you really like them, not because you have to wear them, although I have some essentials from MAC that I might die without. I bought a beautiful peach blush last year from Lux which is still going strong and it always smells divine in there. Prices are a bit steep, but for quality make p, you get what you pay for. Last time i was there they also had a selection of men's stuff and I bought my husband this great shaving kit for $75.00. You can get a basic one at the Italian Cenre for $12, but the brush came in a beautiful aluminum cylinder and the products lasted well over a year.. although he needs to shave way more often than he does....

Visited here a while ago. En anglais, boutique = small shopping outlet - and I felt like a bull in a china-shop.
They did carry some good stuff for men, including alum bars for shaving. B. Kamins well-represented and I didn't feel like I was too feminine in being in here. I gotta be me. -

After reading the reviews I was looking forward to visiting this place. What a let down. Everything cramped together, prices aren't obvious, salespeople looked unkept and no makeup on. Trying to sell me great skin products and makeup not a good idea if the salesperson doesn't look their best.
I'm going to try Sally's next, but that's after using my Shopper Optimum points. -

I consider Lux beauty boutique one of Edmonton's gems. This tiny place is stocked with amazing and hard-to-find skin care and cosmetics brands from the floor to the ceiling. Annie Do who is the buyer for Lux has an amazing eye for good products. She is passionate about beauty and skin care, and eagerly shares her knowledge with everybody who sets their foot inside Lux. Since Annie is responsible for buying all the inventory, she is definitely the person to explain how all the products work and what is in them. Therefore, I strongly recommend that you talk to Annie and ask for her advice when you visit Lux.
If I start listing all the brands sold at Lux, it may take forever, so I will only mention several: Phyto, Ojon, Peter Thomas Roth (amazing!), Butter London, Diamancel, Super Smile, Lollia, Mario Badescu, Principessa, 100% Pure, Terax. They also carry fantastic skin care lines for men.
One last thing I would like to share is if you are on facebook, find Lux boutique's page and join the group. You will receive newsletters from Annie with all the info about new products, promotions, sales and deals.

Not to be mistaken with the steakhouse, Lux Beauty is the trendiest purveyor of beauty products in the city. It's an intimate space jam packed with fantastic, high-quality products for beautification and upkeep. For him and her! When you walk in, it smells so incredibly good. There are shelves of divine hand creams, soaps, scented candles, bath oils, shower gels, shaving lotions, after-balms, make-up, trinkets and more. I'm definitely going to come do some Christmas shopping here. As I write this I can still smell the Pink Champagne hand cream I put on over four hours ago. There's also one there that smells like lemon butter icing. I wouldn't trust myself with it; I'd probably eat it. Prices are consistent with an exclusive boutique.

Super cute!! One of the girls that works there (I assume she has some part in ownership since she knows so much about the products) is beyond helpful. My girlfriend and I have stopped here on multiple occasions on our way back from yoga and each time this same lady was so educated about her products that I was confident in my purchase..top 2 products..pink sugar spray and the mario badescu undereye glycolic cream. Some of their items are pretty pricey but you have to keep in mind they are higher end products and have better quality ingredients than you would find in your typical shoppers drug mart products.

I love the girls at Lux. I love the products at Lux! I can't wait till they open up their new location in High Street! That will be something fabulous! They have the most amazing selection in cosmetic and skin care lines. I am hooked on one of the skin care lines they carry called Juara. I get excited everytime I step into Lux.

Live near Lux Beauty ... have been in several times.. purchased a few items. the prices are a little higher however you get what you pay for ... dont mind spending the money on quality.. the only thing i do not like is that my girlfriend bought some " tube mascara" there and the product was NOT like they said .. and they would not return her money.. only store credit ..... i feel if you are not satisfied with a product you should have the option of having your money back so that you may purchase what you like elsewhere.. Most of the staff are friendly and helpful, one girl though seems to have a very high end attitude and kind of ruins the small shop experience.. will i continue to shop there yes but only purchase items i am familiar with,, the new set up at ginger is nicely done
