I wish I could shop here all the time, but if I did, I'd have no money in my debit account.

The Godiva shampoo bar is fantastic. TRY IT, love it, and worship it. And cry over it when you only have a small piece left.

The customer service is really helpful there, but sometimes you get a few pushy ones who think I'm a tourist or something.

I remember using Lush products a few years ago, but then I stopped for reasons unbeknown to me...but now I am on the Lush train again! I originally came in here looking for perfume and deodorant and left with much more...

For $45 I got their Lust perfume, a small chunk of deodorant to try, a large chunk of sandstone soap, a face mask and vanilla dusting powder...mmmmm delicious.

What I like about Lush is that of course they're natural, a lot of ingredients are organic and also vegan friendly, but you can try every single product in there or buy whatever you can afford. I wanted to try a new deodorant and the woman cut me a $2.50 chunk.

I went in there about half an hour before closing and even at that hour, all of the women that were working were super, super friendly! They explained to me the differences in certain products, and which ones would be suited for my skin type.

A lot of their products come in black containers of various sizes, and if you come back with 5 you receive a fresh face mask for free!

I will be back, my wallet won't like it.
    Heh.

I want to run naked in a rainstorm, make love on a train cross-country.

    It's called Lust.

It is the sexiest aphrodisiac I have ever smelled. Whoever said cinnamon buns were tops needs to get a whiff of this. Where did I first smell it? At a fetish club, on a topless lady in a tutu. I gently whispered into her ear, "what is that perfume you are wearing?" She grabbed my hand and rubbed it across her chest to mark me with the smell that had lured me into her, and then she danced away into the night.

I stood there, my hand held against my face dreaming of touching her again, holding her soft mostly naked body next to me and drinking in her sensuality.

It's called Lust, and I have it.

I love their stuff. They smell wonderful and it's pretty amazing. I do get overly stimulated whenever I step into the store or when I pass it but it's all good. They smell so good I don't care.

And I usually get amazing service whenever I am there. The other day, I went in with my sister who was looking for body butter and one of the sales associate showed us their different lines and we got to sample them.
So far I've only tried their bath bombs and massage bar but they smell fabulous. With the bath bombs, I only use half of it each time I take a bath.

They aren't cheap though but if you want to get products that are made ethically then this store is for you.

I'm not sure why people dislike the service they receive at Lush.

I used to work in retail, and what I figured out is that if you don't like the product you are representing (or selling) you are way less inclined to be a friendly, knowledgeable and proud staff member. Wouldn't you want the staff of whatever store to be both friendly and knowledgeable about the company's product? Yes? Then that's what you are getting when you are in Lush. So quit complaining.

    1. You are in the store for a reason: to find bath, skincare or haircare products. The staff is there talking to you for a reason: to help you find the product you are looking for (to eliminate time spent searching for it) or maybe you have a skin allergy, wouldn't you want to know what products that don't have, oh I don't know, coconut oil?

    2. Another thing, you are going into a gourmet and natural skincare store, you should expect to pay a nice penny or so on their products. The reason why skincare products are so cheap at superstore is because the ingredients (chemicals and synthetic dyes etc) used to make those products don't cost a substantial amount.

    3. Also, notice that each bath bomb, bar, soap segment etc are not identical. They are individual. You go to shoppers and you find bottle soap a and bottle soap b they are exactly the same. Hence why Lush is HANDMADE.

    4. At this particular location, I never felt like the staff were pushing me to buy x product. Sure, they suggest products and I may think about it, but they aren't following me like a lost puppy (unlike The Body Shop) I go in there looking for something specific and they find it for me. Transaction finished.

All in all, it's not the fault of the staff members in this scenario (yes I am aware there are times the staff are not very friendly or plainly suck) it's the customers' reaction or even your expectations. Take it with a grain of salt and have a bubble bath people!

    Awesome!

Lush totally toned down on their must-sell-stuff insanity! I did not have my boyfriend's hand being grabbed without being asked and the staff did not just start putting samples all over his hands before asking if it was okay to do so. Mainly, I don't want to hold his hands if I'm going to get a rash from a product he has on his hands.

I used my discount coupon here and got a pretty good deal for 2 big chunks of soap and a sample of Aqua Marina (which is awesome!). The girl who helped me was helpful by answering my questions and not dragging me all over the store to smell things or to have my hands washed and rubbed with products (I usually have to get samples in case I break out with the itchies).

The smell is totally overpowering (heck, I'm sure if you were blindfolded, you can find Lush solely by the scent wafting from the store down Robson!) but the individual products smell really great when you aren't surrounded by an entire store of soaps/bath bombs/etc.

I always stock up on Demon in the Dark soap when I'm here. It smells great and isn't so sweet that men can't use it. The gift cards from the U.S. work in Canada as well, but the value will differ depending on the exchange rate (it usually isn't by much).

This was the first LUSH store I ever went to.  I had fallen in love with the products shipped to me by a Canadian pal and knew this had to be one of the stops during my brief trip to Vancouver.

But which store to go to? My friend Staci said we had to go to the Robson one as that was the BEST one.  Oh yes, bath bombs everywhere!  And powders.  And lotions.  And unguents.

Okay, so they don't have unguents.  They have lovely, natural "products."

This shop was very crowded on the weekend but I didn't have a problem navigating the store.  Service was very quick and I left happy with my purchases.

(note, why is Vancouver city tax SO much??  It's a shock to Americans!)

I'm no longer as rabid about Lush as I was once, but it's still my favourite place to go when I want to pamper myself with girlie bath things.

The smell of a Lush store is instantly recognizable, and can be really hard on people who are sensitive to smells - I like it, but there are times when it overwhelms me and my nose wants to cry.

The products are fun but viciously expensive (for example, the large bath bombs have gone up $2 since the first time I became a Lush lush) and this is the main reason I don't visit as often as I used to. Still, it's a lovely place for a treat for yourself or a loved one, and I like to keep a few bath bombs and melts handy in case I have a terrible day and want to soak all my troubles away.

    Beware of insidious glitter!

This place smells like an early 1990's juniour high school girls' locker room, after they finish shampooing, applying their Tribe perfume, strawberry lip gloss, hairspray, Secret deodorant, and other various cloying girly things. It's a bit much. Yet intoxicating! But a bit much all the same.

Sensory overload can trick you into thinking you're getting something more substantial, for the price. Basically, the recurring ingredient for practically everything here is cocoa butter or coconut oil...throw in some smack-down fragrance and DIY-looking packaging and you're out 20, 30+ smackaroonies.

Frankly, for the small portions Lush doles out it's really overpriced. The basic ingredients are available at a good grocery store for less. Yes, I know the appeal is in the ready-to-go goodness, but I'm just sayin.'

And salespeeps? Please don't keep bothering me when I'm browsing! Fah!! I imagine there's some convoluted, Lush-Certified customer care tactics you are asked to follow, but can you please step off just a little when my responses grow increasingly brief, my polite smile becoming more forced and brittle? When my eyes happen to fall on an item, I find it annoying if you hip-slide over asking me if I've tried it, why I'm interested in it, would I like to see a demo, can you help me, etc. etc. I'm antisocial maybe, but even antisocial people like looking at pretty little smelly things, you just have to know how to read body language and leave us be. And I'm not making life or death decisions here. I'm just quietly wondering if something called Va-Va-Voom will make me more aesthetically palatable. If I need your help, I will find you. Trust this. The shop is tiny, after all.

    Here's my equivalent-priced beauty tip:
Go spend $2 bucks on an avocado.
Go spend $30 on some nice, new book you've been wanting. (Support the arts!)
Eat part of the avocado. Mmm! Vitamin E. Essential fatty acids. Other great stuff!
Smack the rest on your face and hair.
Read a few chapters of your new book with a nice cup of tea or a beer. Rinse.
    You're gorgeous.

You can smell Lush from like 6 blocks away..I can't imagine working there..2 mins in the door and I have a pounding headache..that is a whole lot of aroma therapy and essential oils for a small space..I once asked an associate how she got used to the smell...she said that after a few days of starting there her sense of smell was burnt and she could no longer taste anything either..but it was a sacrifice she was willing to pay as she loved working there..that's devotion to your job!

I love have purchased many products form this location over the years..always had amazing service and the staff are super knowledgeable on all the products! I have bought many of the bath bombs..Demon in the Dark soup is a fave...the massage bars...a few of the masks are pretty good..I had the shampoo bar once but it was weird to use...OH..and love the jelly bath stuff...they will give you demos on most of the products so go in and ask to see the jelly stuff..it RULES!

I may be in the minority, but I actually don't mind the smell. I sort of enjoy it as I walk by every morning.

The staff can be a bit much at times, but you gotta admire the enthusiasm when they do super dorky promos. And if you start tossing back snarky one liners, or make jokes (I may have very brightly suggested one of the bath bombs smelled like 'whore', with a giant smile on my face) they tend to either back off or drop the selling bit and giggle along.

The face masques are AWESOME. Very very decent price, effective, great ingredients.

Why the reduction in stars? I am very, very, very disappointed that they use so many SLS and parabens in 90% of their products. For the prices and boasts, I would expect a lot better.

I knew little about Lush Cosmetics before my tour-about-Europe in my late-teens, when I worked at the Lush store in Oxford, England for a short while.  Of course, I grew to be loyal to certain products and the store over-all.  We were trained thoroughly and learned the in's and out's of Lush Cosmetics and their strive to create the freshest, most preservative free cosmetic products on the market.

We were trained to always be there for the customer, as there are always questions and people can be shy when it comes to admitting they don't know something...especially about soaps, bath bombs, massage bars, dusting powders and emotibombs (this last one being a relatively new addition, a bar of effervescence that you throw onto the bottom of your shower and it emits a lovely perfume to enhance your mood, whatever you choose it to be).  The Lush store on Robson Street is no exception in stellar customer service and products.  It can get a wee bit crowded on the weekends, but this IS Robson Street and everywhere is crowded so be prepared to join the masses!

Like other reviewers, I find the smell of Lush pretty overwhelming. When you're walking down the street and you can sniff the air and know that Lush is near - that's a mighty scent they're pumping out. Like the KFC of soaps, you might say. Sometimes it's "Geez, Lush, can you tone it down?" Other times it's "Lush. Bath bombs. Now!"

I'm a total bath bomb victim. Gotta have them, that fizzzz as you throw them in the water. The Sex Bomb variety is a classic.

I used to resist paying so much for a chunk of soap, but they do make some lovely soaps that don't leave the skin all dry, such the Milky Bar. I haven't tried many of the other products, but maybe I'll have another "good" Lush scent day soon.

    Talk about intense aroma!
You can smell this place from a block away, and that's kind of a good thing. I do like this place and everything I've purchased here except for the sparkle bar, that thing gets everywhere and you end up having sparkles show up in places you least expect them.
I love their soap and as long as you can handle the instensity of the smell, you will do fine.
However, this is not the best place for the faint of nose.

Yes, this place smells strong, but I kind of like it! After smelling too many products, when your nose starts getting all tickley and you can't really smell anything else, take advantage of the little jars of coffee beans they have. Smelling the coffee beans sort of clears your nose.

The sales staff can sometimes be a bit overwhelming, particularly if you're just browsing, but if you're looking for new products and want things explained, they're really helpful. The people who work there are always super bubbly and knowledgable, and are willing to walk around the whole store explaining everything to you.

I love the Buffy bar, it's AMAZING. It leaves you so smooth! The bath bombs are such a nice treat after a long day. I haven't tried the facials yet, but I've heard they're awesome as well.

I wish they'd open some more locations in Calgary!

Throat closing, eyes watering... there must be a Lush nearby.

This location is no different than any others, save it's storefront on Robson. I have admired the staff members here for their resilience as they stand out side throwing bubble bath bubbles into the air and chanting lame marketing slogans. But man, don't they do it with enthusiasm!

I do love the huge blocks of soap at Lush. The soap designs (by that I mean the color combos and overall appearance) are pretty, catch the light so nicely, and make soap fun.

On the flip side, I've never actually bought any soap here because of the overpowering odors. I'm sure it is more subtle once you don't have a tonne of the stuff all in the same room. Still, not taking that chance of my throat closing at home too.

As a Lush staff member, I would like to explain the customer service in Lush. Yes we are enthusiastic, yes we do very loud, proud demos outside the shop and yes we will make sure that you, the customer are being looked after.....
We do this because it is a shop full of unpackaged, preservative free products that make some non-soap products (eg. Massage Bars) look like soap, and sometimes can need a bit of explaining!

We also have a big wall full of  black pots that may all be hand cream to the non-explained customer, but in actual fact are many different types of shampoo/mask/face cream/ shaving cream...etc...  so sometimes also need a bit of an explanation!

Lush dont advertise 'so when you enter a Lush shop, we, the sales team, are the adverisers for Lush. It is our job to explain to you what Lush is all about, how we are a Handmade, Animal-Testing FREE, Fresh Ingredient Using, Essential Oil Loving, 100% Vegetarian, 70% Vegan, 60% Organic and 100% Lovely Shop!!! :)

If people are in some way annoyed about our enthusiastic approach to our work, just bear in mind that we are doing our job, we obviously love it and the products so that says something!  And we are just there to make your shopping experience fun and exciting! You will be on a  buzz when you leave the shop, and it's not all down to the essential oil intake.... :)

Hope to see lots of you in here.... you're gonna love all the new shower products..where else can you get a body mask thats solid, full of rhassoul mud and aloe vera and costs a measly 6 dollars??!!

I think I would get a major headache working in this store (the scent can be overpowering). Luckily, I am only a shopper, and can simply pop in and pop out again at a whim. And I do so often, as I love the fact I can be both glam and green at the same time. Lush is a mecca for all things organically sudsing, moisturizing, and beautifying. You don't have to eat granola or wear tie dye to appreciate products that are mixed fresh by hand and stamped with an expiration date. Lush's signature ingredients smell good enough to eat ( fresh pineapple) but you'll want to take advantage of all their nourishing properties for your skin and hair.

I used to shop at Lush pretty regularly; love the smell of some of their products, like Bathos! I've also noticed items getting ridiculously expensive as of late...$5 to 7 to for one bath bomb? I think there's even a body lotion for $40+ now. I still like the fresh face masks and lip balms, so I'll go in for those.
Not sure what's with salespeople on here getting offended about customers wanting more subdued service. Sure there's no marketing, and there are likely a few customers walking in for the first time, but you can usually tell who they are by body language. I also tire of constantly being sidled up to and asked if it's my first time in, or going into a 5 minute demo about a product I won't be buying because it's way out of my price range.
I prefer the customer service I've received in other Lush stores. Contrary to popular belief, there is a difference between being friendly and knowlegeable, versus overbearing.

Okay, everyone loves Lush for the delicious soaps, bath bombs and who can resist the veganse conditioner?  It's true, there are some products that I adore like the coconut body wash; sometimes I think I'd like to have it for dessert!  My only complaint about this place is that the staff really goes in for the hard sell.  I often feel bombarded rather than welcomed here, why are they always asking if I've been into Lush before?  Anyway, that aside, if you can handle the rather intense smell, you might find a favourite for your bath here.
