Review from Sarah T.
Want to try theatre, but don't have a lot of money or patience? Try Lunchbox Theatre. So called because the plays run approximately 50 minutes straight from 12:10 to 1pm.
I recently had visitors from out of town, and hadn't visited in quite a while, so decided this would be a great time to go, especially with guests to entertain.
Loved the play, Peril in Paris, it was hilarious, and the cast were great singers. For such a small stage they sure do make the most of their limited space with creative set design. There are only maybe 100 seats, so no matter where you sit you have a great, intimate view of the stage.
Makes me wonder why I don't come here more often. For $20, and the option to bring your own lunch to eat while viewing, this is the perfect ' something a bit different' thing to do on a weekday, or weekend.
Note the weekdays is full of younger to middle age people, while the weekend is more for the septuganarian crowd, but no matter, it's still fun. -

FTR! (First to Review).
Are you tired of the same-old same-old when it comes to what you do on your lunch break? Enter Lunchbox Theatre, a curiously compact cultural calling. Running Monday-Saturday, shows start at 12:10 and run about 50 minutes. If you're thinking your stomach won't last a whole 50 minutes, bring your lunch with you! Had I known before I went, I would've tested the pre-order lunch feature for an extra $10. Next time!
Recently, I watched a play called Wanda's Visit. It was fun and quirky, perfect for a midday pick-me-up. The theatre itself isn't all that big, although I bet you could fit upto about 100 people in there. The seats are just regular cafeteria-style chairs (how appropriate!) placed on risers.
Sidenote: Lunchbox Theatre is located at the base of the Calgary Tower. The entrance looks like it should be outside, but don't be fooled by those doors, you actually must use the doors to the west and enter the theatre from inside. -

Support the arts! Ive made many a visit to Lunchbox Theatre..never at lunchtime persay, but they also have evening shows. As mentioned before, they run 50 minutes long, and is a very intimate space, so all the seats are good. For only $20, its great for something different at lunch, a date, with friends. I believe the plays on are for a couple months at a time. Its a convenient location, if you decide to take transit, or have a few drinks later on!
