I didn't believe you all, what was I thinking? My dinner was a Mexican Flag (enchiladas and sides) and it was okay. I wouldn't say it was good but it was edible.
My wife, however, looked like I did at the Wok Box. I call it the "salt lip". That is where your food is so salty that it feels like you opened your mouth while swimming in the dead sea. I am about to confess to my second mistake of the night-- I took a taste and had flashbacks to Wok Box. (go read my review for that one)
Yelp never led me astray but I didn't want to cross the border and my wife wanted Mexican. This was a horrible error to make. LISTEN TO YELP REVIEWS, PEOPLE!
My humble apologies for being temporarily insane. I've been punished, believe me. Hope you can forgive me.
Bland food on one plate.
Horribly salted on the other.
I strongly suggest a trip over the border to satisfy your Mexican food cravings. -

I ate dinner there nd signed up to Yelp just to write a review. Terrible, terrible food. If you are used to the fantastic cuisine that comes out of Las Margaritas downtown, please do not eat here. Disgusting. Low quality. Microwaved our 7 layer dip - it was watery, mush. The complimentary salsa is most likely not home-made, tastes bland and does not compare to any of the other amazing mexican restaurants you can find in the lower mainland. There was a spider crawling on the wall when I ate there as well. Simply put, if you know nothing of Mexican food, or even decent tasting food you might be happy here. Not for me.

The family went here tonight for dinner. It wasn't very busy and we should've probably figured it out having been to many restaurants through the years but we figured we'd give it a go. Normally we head just into Blaine for some good inexpensive Mexican.
This place was neither good nor inexpensive.
The good: the salsa and chips on the table were good. Though not very many chips.
The bad: everything else. The chicken was boiled and then grilled for two seconds for the chicken fajiatas. It was bland and tasteless. Most stuff felt likt it was reheated and given to us.
The children's meal was very small.
We dared desert as it was basically deep fried chocolate cake - with ice cream. How wrong could this be. Well it was ok - but the ice cream was the 4L container variety ice cream. Blech.
AVOID THIS PLACE and hope that they can change their ways. It's a good location with a decent atmosphere but that's all it had going for it. -

Went to Luna Loca the other night with my wife, we had an Entertainment book coupon. Hadn't been there in a few years, and wow has it ever gone downhill!
Very messy and unclean, you can see in to the kitchen, the cook was a young kid who had on a baggy apir of jeans, t shirt three sizes too big and a huge cheap plastic chain on. The food was awful, we hardly ate a thing and even with our coupon felt ripped off.
This place belongs on Kitchen Nitemares. -

We went there last weekend for dinner. The restaurant wasn't that busy for a Saturday night, but the waiter told us our dinner may be held up a little by a large group that was there.
We ordered the guacamole and chips for a starter. That was extremely bland, and not much to it except mushed up avacados. It was really lacking seasoning.
My entree was taco's in a mole sauce. I didn't really like it (and I usually like that dish). Again, there was lack of seasoning, and the taco didn't have anything in it but meat. I was kind of expecting some lettuce/tomatoes etc in there. I didn't end up eating my meal.
On a side note, the bathroom wasn't very clean, and most of the sinks did not work, and none of the soap dispensers worked either. -

Luna Loca is easily my favorite mexican south of the Fraser River.
It used to be located on the strip in White Rock but many moons ago it moved to this its current location on Hwy 10, which is just so convenient from so many places in delta/whiterock/surrey/langley.
Serving up your Mexican classics I am a sucker for the nachos and the choose your hotness (I like a burning mouth, most of my dining partners do not). If you have not tried Luna Loca yet, you must do so ASAP, it's just like the food your imaginary Mexican mom made growing up. -

Simply, not very good.
OK, so there's little to compare it to, because this is Mexican in Surrey - I can't think of another Mexican place in Surrey. I think that's the only thing Luna Loca has going for it.
As I was sitting in the patio area, thinking of how nice it was - it really is a nice space with a little waterfall - I got a huge whiff of diesel - as it's right beside Highway No. 10. So much for timing.
The food. Oh the food. I ordered the Empanadas and I can describe it as two giant deep-fried perogies. Filled with potatoe and cheese. The menu description was so much nicer and included chorizo - and I was able to count about 5 - 6 small pieces in each - that's what it came down to - me counting the chorizo pieces in my f$#@ing empanadas!
We ordered two kids meals and it's a waste. A bland, tasteless chicken taco and a plain old cheese quesadilla. Each was $6.75. Rip-off city.
If I was south of the border living in a city with lots of Mexican restaurants Luna Loca would get a 1 Star. As it is - this is Surrey. And I've given out too many 1 Stars already. Am I just that negative, or do I just need to stop settling?
The service was attentive, though, and our food came out fairly quickly. And the chips and salsa - the chips came out warm (bonus) and the salsa is really not that bad. -

This is my favorite Mexican restaurant north of the 49th parallel. I used to drive to Bellingham, Washington for my Mexican fix but now I just drive to Surrey and enjoy some enchiladas with a margarita, or a burrito with a beer.

If you live in Surrey, White Rock, Langley, etc, this is your choice for a Mexican restaurant, unless you want to drive in to Vancouver. The place is nice, I have been here when it seems a little less than clean a couple of times, but, generally I find it clean. Food is just ok, could be better with a little effort and better ingredients. The Salsa is ok, it is nice to get chips and salsa at a mexican place, but, I would like a little better quality. As for the food, again, better, fresher ingredients and items that aren't out of a can would be better, a few items like enchiladas are ok, others are pretty bad, stick with classics, don't branch out and you will be alright. Lower your expectations and you may enjoy it.

If you are looking for good Mexican food, this is not the place. I wanted to like it as it is in my neighborhood, and have tried this restaurant 4 times and been disappointed. Just doesn't cut it!
