Lucy's may not be the best 24 hour diner in the Pacific Northwest, but it does offer some pretty great food for you and your rowdy pals at 2am. The staff seem used to rushes in the dead of night, and seem to enjoy the chit chat that comes with it. In fact, I would say you're likely to get bad service if you act like an asshole, but that's true everywhere, right?

The burgers are pretty awesome, the mac n cheese is simple comfort food done simply, and the milkshakes are the topic of raves. But I have a secret! Mix peanut butter and chocolate, or oreo, flavor together in that cup and taste bliss... if only they served rum in the mix at 2am. MAYBE... just MAYBE if you leave an extra extra sized tip...

Prices are not amazing, but much cheaper than Denny's, and on par with the late night Pho restaurants a few blocks away. Otherwise, why would you want to eat at 7-11, even if you could save a few dollars? That's not even real food, they actually cook here!

I ended up coming here after a gig one night and catching a cab with the server after his shift. How friendly is that?!

Went there Saturday night around 6:15 PM and this place only had 1 customer, other than my party of 2. The inside looks exactly like it sounds - a diner, a oldish run down sort of diner. The walls were kind of dirty and the seats had cracks in the material.

The server was very casual and nice enough. We both ordered the grant burger and a milk shake. I got a peanut butter milkshake and my boyfriend got a chocolate peanut butter milkshake. The highlight of the meal? MY PEANUT BUTTER MILKSHAKE. It was so goooood. I think it was $5.00? The burgers were okay (really big) - just okay. The fries that came with the burger were REALLY crunchy but I think that is on purpose.

I'd go here again if I was craving a peanut butter milkshake or if I was in the area and short on cash. The bill came to $34.00 for two people and we left full!

Lucy's gets an A+ in some areas and a C- in others. Here's my take...

    Concept (A+)
They've done a great job with creating that old school diner ambiance.

    Value for $$ (A+)
They offer large portions at great prices

Service - depends on who you get (Tip: Ask for Danny's section!)
For the most part the service is slow. People are nice, but they're definitely not overly attentive. You usually have to wait for 5+ minutes to get menus and a beverage if you go during the weekend for brunch. Then be prepared for your food to get cold if you are waiting for any condiments that they forgot to bring the first time.

There is one server however, the ALWAYS makes the Lucy experience a good one. DANNY offers great customer service. He makes the difference between an "ok" experience and an "A+". If you can sit in his section, you should ;)

    Food (B)
It's pretty darn good and the portions are quite large. The kitchen has messed up a few times (ie: undercooked hash browns, sausages are sometimes too greasy), but 90% of the time, they prepare the food as it should be. I keep going back so I must like it!

    Cleanliness (C+)
I don't think daily dusting is part of their mantra...which it should be if you're in the food business, IMHO. Menus looks like they've been trampled on. Ketchup bottles are often crusty. You can tell that daily side duties aren't on the menu. Floor boards in bathroom look like they're dusted about 1 per week instead of daily. But with that said, the bathroom has cute decor and isn't clean overall.

A friend of mine put me on to this place. I've been looking for some local diners for some time now. It's good that it's 24 hrs. It's got that old school diner feel to it when you first come in, but unfortunately as soon as you walk in....you realize that there isn't much else to it. It's the smallest diner I've ever seen. If you're coming in by yourself for some eats or with someone else...it's good enough, but you're probably gonna have trouble if you come in with a bigger group. Service was good - the waitress was nice & she kept the coffee flowing. Prices are alright and the food was about average.

I had the Breakfast Special that kinda lacked in the hash browns section. I'ma huge ketchup fan and when I got about half way thru the bottle. It started tasting different. Maybe they refilled it with a different brand? I dunno, but something was wrong there. My wife ordered the french toast and the berries that came with it made it sour tasting. All in all, it was an okay experience. I mean, I'd go back just try out the other menu items.

I know the owners in passing, viz a vis business, and they're good people, full on. I support the joint on principal alone. HOWEVER, and this will come across as:

"oooh, I hate those snotty cool kids because I'm not part of their clique/scene/blip/comedic pop culture fad/particularly desperate pursuit for identity and/or validation."

But, whatevs, I'm old enough to recognize the familiar development stage of:

"I'm what? Who am I? I thi- HEY! Now THAT guy/girl must have it going on because I am SO going to emulate such an apparently unique fashion trend currently on the upswing! Mainly because my current social mask/uniform display has become disgustingly co-opted and I'm not getting any attention or fulfillment out of it anymore."

Been there done that, embarrassed about the pathetic consumer naivete engendered by the odyssey of mis-individualtion. Yeah, it's all part of a psychosocial cycle taken by everyone...though mass marketing has seized the herd by it's neck. *red faced shaking my head*

It's just the over-entitlement and "you don't know man, this thing is THE DOOKIE, and you can't even know one iota of what i know about this awesome and surely undiscovered thing that gives me something to live for." Really, if wasn't so bloody hilarious to observe I'd probably have to start relieving myself upon their legs.

...actually, I'm not even going to bother describing my interactions with some of the servers, from what I rambled on about you can imagine and surely have seen for yourselves. People, crawl out of your own bumb and recognize the vacuous sadness of such woebegone and dreadful mimicry.

Now I'll go get a burger and a beer.

Wow, all these years of driving up and down Main Street, and never knowing just how awesome this place is.

Parking here is pretty crappy, so be prepared for a bit of a walk.

The place screams "hipster" and "vintage", but unlike nearby Nice Cafe, it's not ghetto or beaten up.  It's almost "retro" if anything.  The place is 1950s themed, and does have a nice charm to it.  Staff were very friendly and quick.  You won't get 5-star service in terms of professionalism or finesse, but they're just keeping it real (East side style).  The place was surprisingly not full at all, which is a shame.  Guy Fieri from the DDD show should visit this place.

The food here is just like Denny's, but less greasy, and a few bucks cheaper.  I had a steak and eggs breakfast for $11.  The egg did have a puddle of grease (looks like the Pam spray-on type) but that was easily soaked up with a napkin.  The hash browns are of the "diced potato" variety, and the sourdough was pretty good.  Actually didn't need to add any butter, even though it didn't look like there was enough initially.

I also tried the Oreo milkshake.  This is like a less thick version of a Dairy Queen Blizzard or McFlurry from McD's, but this is a good thing.  Most shakes are so thick that drinking it simply becomes a chore.  Bravo for this one.

My friend had pancakes. I was expecting a stack of plain ones with syrup, but this one came with berries on top.  Slightly healthy, and way tastier.

Last but not least, they have "Uncle Grant's Eating Challenge" here.  You have 20 minutes to eat a 5 patty + 5 cheese + 10 bacon burger, pulled pork, mac & cheese, poutine, and a 26oz shake ($28 for the combo), and if successful, you end up on their Wall of Fame.  As of the time of writing, it looks like you have a 40% chance of finishing this thing.  Whether or not those 2 winners dropped dead the next day is a totally different story.

Recommended.  Oh, and did I mention this place is also 24h?  Goodbye Denny, hello Lucy.

Breakfast, lunch or dinner... I can slip around the corner and have great food at a great price.  The Meatloaf is my fav.  Just like Mom used to make.  And don't leave without a piece of pie and a milkshake.  Try the peanut butter.  yummmm

Met a friend here for lunch this weekend and it sure is a happening place.  Busy and loud and full of energetic people.  Busy when we arrived, but luckily a small booth was available in the back.  Water and coffee was dropped at our table as we sat, which was much appreciated.   Service from that point onwards slowed considerably, but it was busy and apparently they were training someone new in the kitchen.

Was too busy talking to really be able to decide what I wanted and everything seemed delicious but rather heavy for a Sunday lunch - I didn't want to have to sleep off a meal and miss the afternoon, so I opted for the easiest choice ever, my favourite  standby:  "I'll have what he's having...."   Which is how I ended up with a Club Sandwich  (Pic:  http://www.yelp.ca/biz... )  Very tasty.  Pretty damned close to perfect.   Fries were skinny and a bit greasy.

All in all, A-OK.  Will have to keep this bookmarked for further visits, and see if it is ultimately a 3 or something else.   Only time will tell if I love Lucy!

    * East-Side Mudslide- great, though depends on the help (one waitress served it to me in a lime and sugar soda fountain glass, the next time I was in, in a small tea cup). You WANT the one in soda fountain glass.
    * Pulled Pork sandwich- epic though it seems to be shrinking?
    * Parking- is competitive. If you look west, it's a quick walk across the street.

Yeah this place is an old school diner alright.  Felt like I stepped back in time.  We stopped in here for breakfast on a weekend morning and tried Lucy's triple threat,  a chrizo benny and a breakfast parfait. We also had one of their signature peanut butter milkshakes.  The food was good, but nothing outstanding.  Sort of what you would expect from any half-decent breakfast place but you pay more for the hipster retro experience.

The eggs were a little runny and the breakfast parfait had way too much honey dew.  The milkshake was definitely something to come back for but maybe not for breakfast.

The service was so-so.  The waitress must have just worked the all night shift as she was not the most attentative.  Had to put in a request for ketchup to put on my hashbrown and eggs, jam for the toast and cream for the coffee.  The guy at the counter seemed a little more friendlier but the place was busy so we had to sit at the counter against the wall and stare at ourselves in the mirror.  I never realized I chewed my food at least 6 times before I swallowed it.

All in all, a neat place but next time I'll come back and try a burger.

They offered me bailiey's in my coffee LOL.

We came here on a lazy Saturday morning after some grief with getting snow tires on my girlfriend's car.  It is a very awesome place!  Aside from the decor of an old diner, the service was just excellent.

My girlfriend ordered the smoked salmon benny and I had the Triple Threat.  Go for the benny.  The triple threat is nothing special which I suppose isn't a bad thing.  You can only do so much with eggs, bacon, and sausage.

As I was writing this, my friend comes by and starts raving about the burger.  I'll be back there so I'll try that next.  Very recommended if anything just for the chit chat of the staff!  Great people!!

Mmmmmm, Lucy's diner is my newest after-the-club-omg-i-need-spicy-chicken-something discovery. Having come to my fav White Spot and found it closed I was terrified. I needed food now. it was 4 am. What to do? My bf remembered that he heard of Lucy's! It was worth the drive and the fried chicken sandwich was spot on!
in fact I likes it so much, we went there for a late breakfast today. That's twice in 36 hours. Yup.

    GO THERE! NOW OR ANYTIME.

Try the milkshakes.  Just do it.  Raaaallllggg... Peanut butter and chocolate?  Yes please!

Recommendations: Sit at the bar.  Chat with the friendly bar tender.  Then turn around and look at the top of the wall behind you.  And if you are curious, ask about the extreme food challenge.  Just listening to the food these guys consumed makes my tummy hurt.

yummy! I have been meaning to check this place out for a while now. Always on the search for new breakfast places to add to our circuit..this is a keeper. I truly enjoyed my chorizo benny. A place that can do a right proper benny , with good hollandaise for under $10 - well need I say more? The whole menu tops out at $10.50 for any item and these days good food at that price is hard to find. Perfect diner decor and great staff. Danny and Natasha were wonderful and we had a great time talking food with them. Small place, fun decor with handle bars instead of antlers on plaques (cute). Will need to go back for a burger and a milkshake though..soon.
thanks we will be back again. and for those who gave sad reviews at their start should go back again. it's a welcome addition to our sunday mornings.

I have to admit to eating here frequently (even with just 3 stars).  They have good prices and friendly (if extremely busy) staff.  (Sometimes we want our bill, and the server is very hard to flag down.)

I love getting a huge side of cole slaw.  There's plenty to share with my girlfriend or take home.  The bennies are awesome--although, there are often inconsistencies in the cooking.  I don't mind so much.  It's a diner, and it's diner quality.

$11 for a burger/footlong hotdog + fries + beer or milkshake?  That's a good deal, especially when the place is open 24 hours.  They have a great sampling of footlong hotdogs, including the amazing one with bacon and maple syrup on it. Ham benny also good, although hollandaise was lumpy and a bit flavourless.  Pretty much everything is under $10.

They hand-cut all fries and hash browns. The hash browns were in pieces that were a bit large, but who cares when you're having breakfast at 10pm!

The menu will suit everyone, and the service will too.  Perfectly attentive yet unobtrusive, and it's nice to see the staff being comfortable enough to sit down at the bar and chat amongst themselves when they aren't busy.  It feels homey here...and like I could come every day. Uh oh.

The shakes are, hands down, the best in town. I'm not a huge fan of the fries (shoe-string style) but that's more my personal taste, and isn't a reflection on the quality at all. The fare is diner-specific, so it's simple, which is perfect for my weekly hangover. It's not like I want some next-level foodie chow when I'm in that state so it's truly great comfort food. Win.

    I Used To Love L.U.C.Y.

I know it's been a while since I've last come here - but what happened?

Prices has increased (before you call me a miser for crying about $0.50 - $1 increases - restaurant is still pretty new and that represents a good 5 - 10% increase).

Was understandably quiet at 2AM on Monday (maybe about 3 tables and 2 servers) - service was pretty inattentive and slow.  No - we didn't need to be nursed because we were drunk - was just trying to grab a quick meal/snack before heading home.

Fries were dry.  Tablemate complained about the dry dog, cold bun and sauce that came in thimble.  We ordered some gravy just to make it more palatable.

Were the beer googles that strong on previous visits?  I know the Marshall Burger was good - and I had a fried chicken sandwich that really hit the spot.  Or there's a lot of variance in menu/chef quality.

Seriously Lucy - you think you some queen bee now with your awards?  Did the boys in the hood really slam you that bad?  I still dig that you're 24 hours - but drops across the board in nearly every quantifiable measure of quality *AND* prices increases?  Lost some sheen and a star there.

Still glad as hell there's a nearby 24-hour diner - but I just want things the way they used to be.

It's the rare moment that I write a mediocre review.  This one is actually above mediocre to be clear.  But usually, I'm raving 'about' or 'at' some local shop.  But I had heard good things about Lucy's and dropped in for a late Sunday bite.  The place is very  cool and I snapped a few photos for the Yelp wall.  I like the diner "style" and appreciated that Lucy's isn't obnoxiously kitsch.  My burger was good but very average.  The fries were flaccid which I've since heard is unusual; perhaps it was the timing of my visit?  I also had a milkshake which tasted great but exactly like a White Spot milkshake (which is just fine for me).  I'd probably revisit Lucy's but not anytime soon. It's probably worth visiting once if only to see the rangy characters that get their eat on at Lucy's.

So I take my boy for dinner and he wants a milkshake. He was hooked on it the first time I took him and so again we go and he orders up the Oreo cookie shake and really enjoys it.
this time he ate food too!  Hey! how's about you order that really big burger with everything on it?

And so he did. Fries and all and just about finished it.

I'll give ya 5 bucks if you can eat it all and drink all of the milkshake!
I put the money on the table by his plate and he found a way to eat it all.
Stuffed and proud that he was man enough to gorge it all down he quietly and quickly took the money and promptly put it in his pocket before it could be taken away.

A proud moment between me n the boy.

I sure hope we get to do this again and maybe bring the daughter unit along with us too! I know she likes to eat!!!

BTW the burger deal with beer is a great deal for a meal.

And anything with Mac and cheese can be served here.

    Try it.

but for the heart healthy, there is food here too, for ya to diner upon.

Am I a sucker for adorable things? For kitsch? Yes. On both counts, However, this diner experience is far from twee, with both of those elements present in just the right amount. Clean space, great light fixtures, mounted bike handlebars instead of taxidermy, sleek booths. This place is attractive.

    Now, the food.

Peeps, my homemade veggie burger was so friggin' delicious. Lots of flavour, not a weird slab like some of the store bought duds our there. There were real beans and stuff in there and spices. It was delicious. Also awesome - no onion on my burger. 1 million points. I guess you could ask for one if you like feet smell on your food, whatever. And I got the special, which included a large milkshake. All that goodness for $10. Vanilla milkshake was super. Great consistency and straight up satisfying. Lucky beer special? Okay, I'll bite. $4? Deal. Fries. I prefer a crisp deep fried potato, but these were pretty good. Very dinerish.

So, yup. I liked it. Yes I did.

Thinking about the meal that the boy and I shared here is making me queasy. Retrospective queasiness is NOT a good thing.

We visited Lucy's after a late night at the Bootlegger's Ball and thought - "why the hell not! It's 2am, let's get some grub." I would have preferred grubs.

Boyfriend ordered a breakfast burrito and it consisted of mostly plain white rice with eggs scrambled into it and a little bit of cheese mixed in. Plain black beans completed the "burrito." No sauce. No spices. EGGS SCRAMBLED INTO RICE. Listen, you can put stuff in a tortilla but that don't make it a burrito - this was disgusting.

Me? I had a fried egg sandwich on limp untoasted sourdough and was that cheese processed? Even if not, it slid around on the greasy eggy bread like a petroleum nightmare.

We took one look at eachother and at our "food" and burst out laughing.

Lucy's? Eastside! "Diner" more like it.

Check yourself at the door: we don't take kindly to our claustrophobic kin (but 3 people can squeeze cozily in a booth built for two)

Ma, Pa, I'm goin' huntin' for handlebars. Where's my rifle errrr wrench? Handlebar mustaches rock, but when they're mounted on the wall, that's just chic.

Classy it ain't: is that a Canadian goose on my miniature mug?

My benny: not a looker, but sure did taste tasty with a massive hunk of avocado and home fries.

This rating is based on location, value, and the fact that they're open 24 hours.  If you're looking for top-notch food, you should really go somewhere else.

My hubby and I swing by Lucy's when a) it's after 9pm, b) we're looking for cheap-eats in a sit-down restaurant, c) we're craving a Double Duce - a slushie with ice cream (ignore the unfortunate name).  Yum.

The food we've ordered here has always just met the basic needs of the particular dish - nothing more, and usually nothing less.

The service here has improved a lot since Lucy's first opened, however they do seem to employ the required number of hipsters for the local neighbourhood jaunts.  Adjust your expectations accordingly.

It was like walking into a place where everyone knows your name.... cept mine :(

First impression walking in here and seeing the interaction between servers and guest... easy going, casual, and fun staff, but not very attentive to us.  It took some time before someone acknowledged us when we came in.

    Menu:
Diner food: Burgers, sandwiches, poutines, shakes, etc.  I ordered the burger ($6) add bacon cheddar (+$3.50).  You could get a combo (with shake) for $10.  Everything was pretty decently priced

    Food:
Ok, lets breakdown the burger that I got...  The burger patty was really good, homemade, very tasty and juicy.  With the added bacon and cheese... mmmmmmmm soooooo goood!  Comes with lettuce, tomatoes, onions, and mustard on the bun.  The bun... well, there's your problem.  The burger was about .5-1 cm smaller than the bun!!!  Really??  If I knew, I would have ordered a double.  A little lame to see that there's more bunage than burger when you lift the top.

Would having given a 5 star for this place, but -1 for serving a side of meat with my order of bun.

    ORDER AT LEAST A DOUBLE!!!!

    Service:
Staff was pretty friendly and fun, but they took a while to take our orders, didn't refill drinks, didn't come by to check on us.  Typical service standards failed.  Had to flag down someone (and that wasn't easy if you're sitting in the back)

4 Star now -1 for service

    DON'T SIT AT THE BACK!

    Layout:
Love the decor and how they try to keep everything in theme of a good old typical diner.  Very interesting bicycle handles mounted on the walls like trophies lol.

Also, if you stay late enough, you get a bit of entertainment from all the drunkies coming in.

Let me start off by saying that I absolutely LOVE the fact that there's a 24-hour diner on Main St. I also love that it's got that true diner feel and interior.
What I don't absolutely love is the food. It's just OK and really depends on your level of sobriety. At 3am after a few G&Ts anything's gonna taste good. If you come the next morning with a slight hangover and are forced to wait scrunched up in the crowd, you might be singing a different tune. The tomato soup was pretty bad, the burgers were OK, the milk shake was solid.
I'm giving this place 4 stars for the sheer fact that it looks cool and can feed me any time of day.

I dont think Ive ever given a 2 star. But this is basically how I felt after a much longed for visit. Let me start by saying, I love diners.. wait, I love GOOD diners. And this one, is really only OK. The service was great, super friendly big guy behind the bar where we sat, and the menu looked great too. I get excited about pulled pork, meatloaf sandwiches, and fried chicken of the like. But eh. What the hell, man.
Dont get me wrong, I will give it another chance, Ive got to. The price is right, the location is easy, atmosphere is fun and the hours are extensive. So hopefully the food starts to pick up cause this place could be great with a little more love and/or inspiration in the kitchen.
So what, a food heavy review on a diner. Cah'maaan Lucys, just cause youre on Main, dont mean you can trick me.

My expectations for food at late night goes down considerably. And the night I came here, sad to say, I was a little disappointed.

I love the whole premise of the business: a diner style restaurant, with all sorts of comfort food, and open 24 hours. It's a tiny place, with seating for only 30 people or so. Retro style furniture, and even a retro menu board completes the theme. Prices are very decent here, you can spend under $10, and get food.

Within minutes of sitting down we were asked if we were ready to order. When it's this late at night, it takes me a while to decide. They have a lot of breakfast items, as well as burgers, mac and cheese,  sandwiches and milkshakes. We ended up getting the All day and night breakfast. 2 eggs, bacon/sausage, hash browns and toast. The food came quickly so that's a good thing. The not so good: scrambled eggs were very dry, sausages were super salty, and they didn't give us jam for the toast. Tried the Mac & Cheese as well, also super salty. Also felt that we were really rushed throughout our meal.

I really wanted to like this place, I think I'm going to give it another chance and maybe come for dinner, I have heard good things about their milkshakes.

Luuuuuuuuucy!!! I'm hooooome! And it's 4am and I want my after-bar sobering dinner! This place is 24 hour, so you better believe when you get here on a Friday night/Saturday morning it's packed to the tits with slurring, stumbling, hipsters who rode their ten speed bikes over from the indie show down the street.

We invaded this place, which isn't hard because it's quite small, and very retro 50's cutesy. The staff were super patient and worked quickly to get our bellies filled with not-as-greasy-as-Denny's-American-diner-fare. I had the veggie sammy, which was kind of boring except for the artichokes. The BF had the fried egg sammy, which he enjoyed, and I noticed some of the others had mac-n-cheese or burgers and someone even ordered the meatloaf dinner?? Who the fuck eats a meatloaf dinner at 4am... that just seemed weird to me. Kind of like the whole steak and eggs thing, it's like the dinner of breakfasts. (You don't have to understand that last bit, I'm still pretty drunk.)

In any case, I'm sure we'll be back to Lucy's since it's so close to home, and 24 hours, and it sure beats the hell out of eating at Denny's. But even eating out of a dumpster with three hobos living in it would probably taste better than Denny's. I'm just happy we have a place to go to after pickling our livers on the weekend. I love Lucy!

I'm in love with a girl named Lucy.  She's vintage, has some cool chrome jewelry and loves to wear the most awesome seaform green.

Yup, diner love. The other love of my life is a man for whom diners will always be closer to his heart than tapas.  When we were hungry after I got home from roller skating practice, and it was midnight, this was the only place I could think of that would serve us at 1 am...other than the Naam (which is going to take some time for me to convince him to try).

$10 for a burger, fries AND milkshake?  hello!  it was amazing - and we both poutine-ified our fries (worth it - I am not sure my hips agree, but meh).  The milkshake was very good - still just a little shy of Moderne Burger's awesome one, but pretty damn close.  my only complaint?  The burger patty was a bit on the small side for the bun.  But the bun was amazing, and the burger patty?  HANDMADE.  I love it when places don't just slap on the frozen patty - it's way cooler.

At 1 am the place was a mix of interesting people, everyone just chilling out listening to Tom Petty, Dire Straights and no one looked at us weirdly for singing the lyrics to some of them ;)

YES!   A 24-hr place to go to after the bar or between parties that is not Denny's AND is in my neighborhood!  And even better, it is really quite good.  And there is brunch all day - when you're out until the sun is coming up  that 3pm deadline most places have for brunch can come a little too quickly.  Now I can still don yesterday's make-up, tiredly attempt to re-sculpt my crusty back-combed hair, down some water and crawl through the door of Lucy's for a wonderful breakfast with my equally haggard buddies just a short foot-dragging distance from my front door and shortly after I wake up at the crack of mid-afternoon.

Hungover I can't seem to resist an eggs benedict - so I tried their veggie benny which comes with tomato, avocado, OR spinach.  Note the "OR." I got mine with tomato AND spinach - they charged me 50 cents extra for the extra veggie, which is ok at the price point.  (It's worth it.)  The hollandaise sauce was SO GOOD, and the veggies were super fresh and crisp despite being covered in warm egg and sauces.  The hashbrowns although nicely seasoned were slightly undercooked in all of our breakfasts, but we've only been here the one time so far so it might have been just the once.

The night before some friends of mine tried to go there at 3:00am, but they were completely packed with no chance of being seated within any reasonable time.  Main street restaurants take note - the Main and Broadway area craves places that will be open to us on weekend late nights!  Lucy's is just not big enough for all of us!

This place basically sucks. Sandwich came without any items that the menu clearly states ( ie tomatoes, lettuce). No salt, flavorless, too much mayo. Fries were disgusting. I know this is 4 am diner food but there's a way to do it right and a way to do it wrong. Lucys certainly gets it very wrong.

I ended up here for brunch on Saturday morning and was fairly excited for my first Lucy's visit!

I gotta say though, this place is way too tiny. There were going to be 4 of us, and when my friend and I arrived, one of our other brunch buddies was seated in a 2 person booth.. with a chair awkwardly sitting on the edge, blocking the hallway. Erm... uncomfortable.. plus, it was raining and I had nowhere to put any of my stuff.

We informed the very friendly waitress that we had one more person joining us and she kindly moved two tables together for us near the front!

Two of us were going to share the chocolate milkshake, which we were told was "on the way" for about 20 minutes before someone gave up and informed us that the machine was broken. Oh well. I was satisfied enough with my coffee.

I ordered the breakfast burrito and side hashbrowns. The wait wasn't too long, but it was kind of disappointing. It was full of seasoned rice, black beans, egg and cheese but majorly lacked flavour. I ended up drowning it in ketchup and hot sauce and some salt. It was pretty good once I did that.. but still. They should put salsa in the burrito or something.

I'm going to be nice and give them 3 stars because I really want to like this place. I'm going to come back and order something else, and hopefully I can add a fourth star...

Bonus points go to: brunch all day, being open 24 hrs, a decent amount of vegetarian options.

I love where I live..not only does it already occupy many great food joints with titanic size variety in food type/style-but NEW ones keep poppin up too!  Classic yet ultra hip with the times...Effin love it.

24 hour diner on main st..are you frikkin kidding me?! Bless you Lucy!!

It was a choice between Cafetaria and here..we tried Cafetaria first and was told we had an approx. 10-20 min wait.  At Lucy's we got seated right away.  (it was meant to be!)

My friend ordered this ginormous burger with TWO patties, cheese, egg, and god knows what else! I think it was called The Warden...I think... Watching him finish that was a sight to see!  Was he satisfied? oh, hell ya.

I had the Lucy Scramble.  eggs with bacon, cream cheese, mushroom...served with hash browns that were in the shape of super thin vermiccilli noodles!  first time i have ever had em like that...i asked them to upgrade my plain toast to a french toast! =)  soo yummmy..diner greasy goodness, vancity eatside styles! lol

the guys working there were so cool...wicked tattoos..friendly and very mellow.  i cant wait to go back at like 330am...

This place has been open for just under a month, and I happened to stumble upon it by fluke with my friend Beki, as we were both looking for a quick bite to eat somewhere on Main Street (which is always a good call). Since then I've returned three times to try other things on their menu.

I was excited when I saw this place because I'm a big fan of traditional diner food. I often watch Diners, Drive-ins and Dives, and wish we had the kind of diners they feature on the show in Vancouver.

    Madden Burger $10
2 patties, bacon, onions, mushrooms, cheese, fried egg, & chili

When I saw this on the menu, I knew right away I had to try it. I love eggs in burgers, and I especially love bacon and mushrooms. I also love chili. So it was everything I like in one burger.

This burger did not disappoint. It was obscenely huge. It came open-faced and piled 5 inches high. Eating it probably took 3 years off my lifespan. I expected the chili to be saucier, but instead it was pretty much just the veggies from the chili on top. This worked in the burger's favour as it didn't make it soggy. Good call. For something this big, you would kind of expect it to fall apart, but it held together quite nicely. I think the double patty is unnecessary though, as I would've been okay with just a single. I would definitely get this burger again.

    Uncle Ev's Chorizo Hash $8.50
Broken down chorizo, potatoes, onions & topped with 2 eggs

Beki had this, and said it was delicious. The hashbrowns were pretty unique too. I've seen shoestring hashbrowns, but these ones were more noodle-like. It was a decently sized portion. It's kind of hard to screw up chorizo hash. Solid choice.

    Three Little Pigs $8.50
Triple benny sampler (ham, bacon, and chorizo)

I love bennies. I couldn't decide between ham, bacon, or chorizo, so I just went with the sampler and got all three. The chorizo was a bit on the dry side, but having runny eggs helped alleviate that. The eggs were soft poached just the way I like them, and the hollandaise sauce was fantastic. The hashbrowns this time around were kind of different than in the chorizo hash. Mind you, this was on a different day so I'm not sure if they changed it up slightly since the opening day. Anyways the best way I can describe the hashbrowns this time is to compare them to Hostess Hickory Sticks snack (and I love those!), but thankfully not nearly as salty. I highly recommend their eggs bennies.

    Lucy's Home Made Mac n Cheese $6

Really good, really creamy, really cheesy, baked crispy on top. Everything you want from mac n cheese. It was good. My only wish is that it was bigger. That small casserole dish doesn't quite do the job as a main course, especially since it doesn't come with any sides. But then again, it's $6. What do you really expect?

Homemade Veggie Chili with Beef $5 (+$2 for beef)

This was a very hearty portion, and I couldn't even finish it. It came loaded with vegetables. The beef was a bit too charred for my liking, and I would've preferred it cooked and mixed in to the chili, rather than just layered on top. Carrots, chickpeas, celery, beans, corn, tomatoes. I usually like my chili with heat, but this one tasted more like stew. Up the heat and I think it'd be pretty decent.

    Lucy's Mom's Meatloaf $8.50
    Mashed potatoes, veggies, & gravy

Meatloaf was very good. Very traditional, hence the name. Very moist, well done. Mashed potatoes and gravy were pretty standard. The frozen Green Giant medley for veggies was pretty disappointing.

    Fried Chicken Dinner $8.50
Fried chicken served with mashed potatoes, veggies, & gravy

I have to say I was very disappointed in the fried chicken. They were essentially chicken tenders that tasted like they came out from a frozen food box. Same mashed potatoes and veggies as above. Definitely stay away from this dish. It's a no go.

Will I return? Yes, but only for certain things. I think their breakfast and brunch items are great. And they do a good job on their burgers. I want to try their milkshakes next time. Oh and guess what? It's open 24 hours! And doubles are only $6.

A burger, fries, and a beer for ten bucks? Great!

A burger, fries and a beer for ten bucks at 3:30 AM? I'm in!

The people at the Whip (down the street) really showed that they understand the neighbourhood when they opened Lucy's about a month ago. The kids and huppies who roam Main Street after the Biltmore closes need somewhere to go, and this is it.

The servers are friendly and fun, and the burger was quite good, but the fries need some serious work - they were borderline soggy both times I ate there, and utterly ruined the poutine that I ordered on my first visit. Also, they serve their beer in cans, and there aren't any beer glasses available - fair enough for a diner-style restaurant, but if a place is licensed, it should just stock beer glasses. I'm not a fan of drinking out of cans at restaurants.

But I'm happy to afford Lucy's some grace for the first month of operation. They're clearly moving in a good direction, and it will be great to see how this livens up the neighbourhood at night.

Atmosphere: Very tiny, about the size of a high school Hallway. Don't come with a group of 3 or more, not very group friendly. Other than that I appreciated the retro dinner look. They had bike handles mounted on the wall to look like game deer which rocked.

Service: was decent, nothing stellar, however, nothing blew me away either.

Food: I had soft serve, worse than Mcshits. It tasted more like frozen whip cream than soft serve, however, the fries were good, fresh cut which complementing dipping into my soft serve. Other than that, there was nothing specific on the menu that appealed to me. My friend Kent thought the sandwich was great and I trust his culinary opinion. The one advantage is that this is a 24 hours dinner, however, you're better off getting a 7-11 hot dog instead.

Price: Very cheap, however, you get what you paid for. I looked at the other dishes and they either seemed canned, instant with no real special flare but for a burger, fries and a milkshake for $10, I don't see how you can go wrong.

I love the concept of all night dining. The number of restaurants offering 24 hr service has been dwindling over the years and I hope there is a trend toward a resurgence.
Lucy's did not impress me much. The design, appeal and layout is exactly what a diner should be. Retro, stylish and serving all the expected diner items.  The implementation unfortunately is so-so. The service is ok, but the food could use some work. We had a variety of meals. The fried chicken dinner came with a side of overly whipped mashed potatoes so cold that I had to send it back. The other dishes had strong flavours of canned vegetables and dried herbs. I suppose you can't expect much from sub-$10 dishes, but the food is pretty basic., and I would only reserve it for the non-discerning non-sober late night crowd.

Tried this place last night and really enjoyed it. Certainly not the best food I've ever eaten, but $10 for a burger, fries and a beer is a pretty good deal. The burger was a standard diner burger but solid - no bells or whistles, just a patty, crisp iceberg lettuce, onions, tomato and mayo. I was a little worried about the fries from some of the other comments on here, but they were great! Maybe they've taken the advice of some of the commenters. Not only did this come with a can of Red Racer beer, but I was full after. Granted I ate a bunch of my girlfriends fries, and she gave me the tv remote sized piece of cheddar cheese from her sandwich to put on my burger, but still...

My girlfriend had the veggie sandwich which she really enjoyed as well. I'm looking forward to trying some of the other menu items, all of which are under $10. Staff were super friendly and our food came quickly.

I wish I could give this place 3.5 stars, since I think it deserves more than 3, but not quite 4

MAIN ST. NEEDED A 24-HOUR DINER SO BAD! Thank you!

I'll admit I've only been to Lucy's sober twice, but the food was adequate greaseyspoon fare every time.

Staff is very nice and all smiles. Lucy's is a welcome addition to the neighborhood.

Try a plate of the onion rings or the southern breakfast.
