Lucky 13 is a nice place. It's got a great atmosphere when you first walk in. The entrance is really nice. It kind of feels like you are walking into a sauna because of all the wood.
Once you get inside, it actually feels like a sauna. I don't know if there is something wrong with their ventilation, but it is always hot and sweaty in there.
I don't really like the music that Lucky 13 plays. I prefer hip hop over dance music.
The women's bathrooms at Lucky are good and bad. There are a lot of stalls (which is good because Lucky 13 is gigantic), but they are usually fairly nasty. The good thing is the bathroom attendant who soaps your hands, give you paper towel, and has hair spray, perfume . . . everything a girl needs, and even a lollipop (for a tip).
The staff at Lucky 13 aren't very friendly but it's a huge place so have to deal with hundreds of people every night. I sort of understand.
I really like that their $6 cover charge includes coat check. That is such a wonderful concept - more bars need to do this.
Overall, it's an OK place. Nothing special in my books though. -

I came here last Friday expecting it to play actual club tunes (how silly of me to expect something like that in Edmonton), and although it wasn't all bad, there were some things I just couldn't ignore. If you want to experience a venue with the worst sound quality ever then here's your place. Add a mixture of Top 40 mash-ups and overly aggressive vultures, and you have yourself a generic Edmonton 'club', which are all pretty much the same...cue the saying "If-you've-been-to-one-you've-been-to-them-all".
No so-called 'club' would be complete without disgusting bathrooms that only 1 out of 4 stalls are actually operational. At least there were enough people there to actually fill up the dance floor, because that was the only saving grace for this place.
And there you have it. A fun time to be had in Edmonton...if this sounds like your kind of place. -

If it's douchebaggery that you seek, then you'll find it here in spades. Not my kind of place, man. Lucky 13 is a decidedly acquired taste.

I recently went to an event at Lucky 13, Glow with the Flow. It was a black light party and we got airbrushed with neon body paint for free. Since it was an event there was no cover, but if it wasn't an event cover would be 10 and mandatory coat check is another 4. If you're extremely bad at math that is 14 dollars just to get into the door. Once you are in they have a nice bar area and dance floor, but the music they play is AWFUL. The house mixes ruin every single song they play. Also, you should know exactly what you want to drink because I asked the bar tender to "surprise me" once and I ended up with a drink that tasted like cherry cough syrup. I still have a good time there, but that is because I'm awesome not Lucky 13.

Lucky 13, formerly known as Barwild, is a pretty nice place. They have a cool bar area that Las Vegas feel to it but that is where it ends.
The place is pretty big and usually crowded but when I was there it was a bunch of young kids partying. I wondered if this place even checked ID because a lot of the people were under 18 for sure. I know this because I checked their ID's myself to make sure.. but really I knew some of the kids there and I was just as shocked to see them there as they were to be caught there. The club looks classy, but once I started looking around the more trashy looking it became. The guys bathroom is right on the dance floor, literally when you step out of it you are stepping onto the dance floor. The door is kept open which makes for awkward situations around that area. The music is more dance than anything which is OK but they should switch it up more often.
Not really my kind of place.
