Review from Lauren N.
Lucid Lifestyle made its home on Whyte about a week ago, and if you hurry, you might still make their grand opening! They specialize in organic and sustainable fashion for both men and women, and also carry fair-trade accessories and organic skincare products.
Their clothing items are made of materials such as organic cotton, bamboo, silk, and merino wool. Lucid Lifestyle carries both casual and active wear for men and women, but I have to say, they're line for men is limited right now. The clothes are soft to the touch though, I wanted to rub my face against everything.
They also carry items from the Gaia skincare line for men and babies. I don't know why they don't have anything for women yet. For men, they have face creams, shave gel, shampoo and conditioner, to name a few (ladies, a great Christmas gift for your man). For tiny tots, they've got moisturizers, soothing lotions, and baby bath wash. The entire Gaia line is made with no parabens, animal ingredients or petrochemicals. That to me is the coolest part! They all smell heavenly, and you can pick up some free samples of the baby lotions if you want. I took home some baby skin-soothing lotion, and it worked wonders for my sensitive skin.
If you passed down Whyte during the summer, you might have noticed the Lucid Lifestyle kiosk tent set up just across from Chianti and Yianni's. They're more permanent now, just a little further down the street. Organic, fair trade -- sounds good to me! -

Lucid Lifestyle claims it carries the best in eco-fashion. I don't know if that's exactly true but it's probably pretty accurate. It's one of the many shops that are offering environmentally friendly clothing these days. Most people will love it on that aspect alone.
It is mainly good for workout clothes. Reminds me of lulu lemon in a way. They carry casual wear too but I would only go for the active wear. The staff is pretty knowledgeable on all the items and they are really helpful. They kind of let you know where everything is when you first enter and then let you be unless you need some help.
It's a trendy store and a must see for people that love to be green. -

Walking into this store, I was bombarded with sale signs - which, let's be honest here, is a woman's dream come true. I was immediately approached by an extremely welcoming and knowledgeable young man who let me know about the sales and where I could find different items in store. Every clothing rack had a picture of an average-sized person wearing the respective clothing - a great idea. Have you ever looked at something and weren't quite sure how it would look on but you're too lazy to try it on? That's me! And the pictures on the racks solved that problem; they were very helpful. The clothing was a mostly of a yoga variety with a few jackets, sweaters, and even a few dresses thrown in. The men's section was small but contained numerous t-shirts (again, on sale), some sweaters and a few other things.

I love the philosophy of this store and love the friendly staff even more! Lucid carries sustainable, organic clothing made with things such as cotton, bamboo and wool. They also have fair trade accessories and some skin care so you can be beautiful and eco friendly all over! The first time I walked in here I pleasantly surprised to find modern lines, lots and lots and lots of options, and clothes with beautiful prints and patterns on them. They also have pictures over most racks of the clothes on a real person, not a size 2 model. This was encouraging as I am NOT a size 2 model! I think this will become a regular stop for me as what could be better than looking great while saving the planet at the same time?

This new, trendy shop is part of a new generation of stores cropping up that embrace the environment. Conscious fashion is more than a slogan. When I walked into this shop I overheard the owner telling an employee that there was no way he would stock a certain brand because they delivered their stock in "excess packaging." Green isn't just a lucky colour anymore, it's a way of life for many hip, young people who've taken our environmental crisis to heart, and also to their wardrobe. OK, philosophical platforms and posturing aside, have you ever worn bamboo?! It is the most comfortable fabric ever!!! I'd buy bamboo everything, if I could afford it. Unfortunately, until the market grows, and supply & demand swing in our favour, organic alternative fabrics will cost more than your cheap-labour, mass-produced garments at Wal-Mart. This is the kind of shop where you can buy clothes to dress for today, and our future. I look forward to them stocking up this place. It just opened and there are boxes everywhere, but so far I like what I see.

I love, love, love Lucid Lifestyle! I became aware of eco fashion only recently, and I am loving the idea. Who would have thought that clothes made of bamboo and organic cotton could be so nicely tailored and look sharp? Until recently I had a notion that organic fashion was all about stretched out T-shirts and exercise pants that lose their shape after one wear. Lucid Lifestyles proved me wrong! The clothes these guys sell look unique, well-structured and yes, even elegant. I admire the store's selection of jackets and dresses. They are suited for fashion minimalists such as myself who despise everything frou frou, and prefer clean lines and simple designs. Tops, skirts and pants' simple designs would make them a great base for any wardrobe. And did I mention that every single item of clothing is extremely soft? That's because the clothes are made of bamboo, cotton, silk and wool. After visiting Lucid Lifestyle, I am ready to say goodbye to the little amount of synthetic clothes I have in my wardrobe, and say hello to eco fashion!
