Nice little theater (very little) where I recently saw Avenue Q. The seating consisted of folding chairs, which was a little uncomfortable after 3 hours but I did enjoy the wine and popcorn served here.

I would definitely come back to see another show.

This is a great local theatre to see a show. In the last couple of years, the Lower Ossington Theatre has really stepped it up and always seems to be running some fine entertainment

When I first noticed the theatre, about 5 years ago, it was a venue for Fringe shows and the Toronto Youth Theatre, a non-profit organization that trains teens and young adults all about putting together professional style productions. I have been to LOT for both, and they were good.

Now, the LOT is also putting on well known shows in productions of their own. Recently they did Rocky Horror for a successful second run, and their weekend children's theatre shows have been really popular. I am excited for this winter's take on Avenue Q!

Logisitics: LOT actually has two theatres: One downstairs at street level where they do weekly cabaret shows, and where I have seen some comedy and variety shows for the Toronto Sketchfest. Seats approx. 50?
Upstairs there is a room where they often house a bar (bonus!) and another theatre where they do the musicals. I have seen some more Sketchfest shows, a Summerworks and a Fringe show, and a Toronto Youth Theatre production of Hair (it was really good!). The theatre is not big, they just put in folding chairs, so it is laid out differently for each show. The positive about it being big is that all  the seats offer good views.

Tickets for these shows are generally cheaper than a Mirvish or Dancap production, but the quality is still good. Plus it's in a great neighborhood. I definitely recommend exploring their schedule and going to a show at LOT.

Great place to see a show. Small - 7 rows and it seats maybe 140 people? Just the right size to be engaged with the show - not small enough you feel conspicuous or so big you feel like you're part of a crowd. Chairs are folding (well, they're permanently placed, but folding-type) but they are on risers with a good pitch so sight lines are no problem. There's honestly not a bad seat in the house. The stage is great space. Very good sound system and good acoustics - a bit muffled when the cast really starts to belt it out but no big deal. Wine & beer you can enjoy in your seat. Bathrooms are a bit small. Very friendly staff.  Audience dress is come-as-you-are. Hardest thing, since the neighbourhood became so hipster, is finding parking nearby. Be prepared to navigate the NSEW one-way streets to find a spot. Kinda feels like you're in Tron :-). Oh - and the company: saw Avenue Q there recently and they were amazing. Great performances, great voices, tons of personality. Highly recommended.
