Review from Rachel J.
This review is more specifically for The Restaurant at Lougheed House as opposed to just the house itself.
The food here is so delicious it's ridiculous! Their eggs benedict is to die for and the setting is awesome. I love all their china. Their service is also nice. A little slow, but that's kind of what you're going there for.
The house is also super neat to tour. Definitely my kind of place. I would become a regular here if I lived in Calgary. Great place! -

Rob & I recently checked this place out, since we heard rumors of it being haunted, we went out of curiosity. Well, we were there for a couple of hours, taking photos, and no such ghosts hehe.
Ah well, it offered other things also. First of all, we decided to stop in the 'Restaurant at Lougheed House'. When we walked in, it was as lovely as a country garden party; there were flowers on each table, and beautiful sunlight shone through the glassware on the table. This is the only place that has put a lemon wedge in the water to make us feel extra spoiled. Now, the menu isn't huge, but they do have some big, filling items and they all come with side-salad instead of fries, to they make sure you're heathy ;) Our waitress was so polite and so accomodating and well-educated, she went way beyond our expectations. Since we ate a meal there, our rate for a walk-through was reduced from $8.50 per person, to $4/person, so that was nice.
When you walk through, watch for the signs about the Lougheed history, some of those are quite interesting. Feel free to bring a camera along too, just because it's probably not every day you'll see a place so lovely, and I am including the big, beautiful garden when I say that!
The basement is a different story, but I'll let you see that one for yourself when you come to visit the Lougheed House.Listed in: Haunted Calgary (and area)

Lougheed House is a restored 1891 sandstone mansion on 2.8-acres of beautiful, lush grounds complete with floral arrangements and well-manicured lawns. You really only need to check this place out once. It's fairly cool, offering a glimpse of early life in Calgary.
The place is open Tuesday to Sunday from 11am to 5pm, but can be rented out for private corporate events, weddings, and similar functions. And although I've never rented the place (I imagine the cost is exceptionally high), I think this would be awesome.
There are plenty of homeless in this area, which presents some issues. Many sit on the benches near their grounds hounding people for loose change. And the needle safe-drops are an outright eyesore.
