    GREAT PLACE!

I don't write to many reviews, but this place worth my time to do it.

If you are looking for a place to take classes in a very nice and friendly environment, this is your place.

All the instructors are great and helpful.  Each one of them is very unique, with their own set of music and pace.

In terms of the schedule, they have a variety of different hours and classes. They have classes 7 days of the week! so there is no reason for you not to try it out!

I will for sure recommend this place to everyone who is looking for a more friendly close environment, rather than  a crowded gym with too many people!.

LOVE this place! I have taken many fitness classes over the years (ballet barre, kickboxing, other spinning classes, etc.) and I am certain I sweat more in this class than in any others. If you're looking for one hour a day that will completely kick your arse then this is it. I took my first class with Vanessa, the owner of the studio, and I found her to be the perfect combination of hilarious and motivating.

    TIPS

-You can park for free at the Chase bank next door after 5:30pm.
-RESERVE your classes online ahead! I got up this morning and decided I wanted to go to a 10:30 class but lo and behold, I checked and it was already full. This place is popular so make sure you reserve a spot for yourself.
-They rent out spinning shoes/seat pads (if you need either of these things)
-The class ends doing sit-ups/push-ups/various stretches on mats on the floor. You'll be expected to take your shoes off so WEAR SOCKS! If the class is full like mine was, you won't want your bare feet to be in the faces of 16 other folks who are folded into positions in very close proximity to you.
-Bring water and a small towel; you will need both.
    -Have fun!

I purchased the groupon for Lotus Kitty a few months ago. I finally used it. :)  I used all ten visits, pretty darn fast. Overall, I really, really like this place. I have a few other groupons to try for spin places, so I'm not sure if I'll be back, but I really have no reason not to.

    My thoughts:

    - Everyone is nice and super welcoming.

    - Parking isn't so bad. There is underground parking, through the alley. You can park on the street for $1 an hr.

    - They can adjust to different types of spin shoes. LOVE this. You can have SPD or the other big red clips, have no idea what their name is, but they can adjust for you!

    - I am completely into the fact that you end each session on the floor w/ Chaturanga push-ups and you crank out a pretty good ab series too.

    - Some of the instructors put a dab of essential oil on your hands at the end. It's a lovely treat.

    - I know they have been having problems with their headset and mic, but I really wish that would get fixed asap have the instructors yell louder. It's hard to hear them sometimes.

    - I generally prefer if spin instructors don't tell me a LOT about their personal lives and focus on the ride. I understand trying to relate, but I generally don't feel that it should be a free for all about your life. I like a lot of reminders, hips back, hands light, etc... For that the best teachers I found were: Michael, Michelle, and Tonii.

    - I prefer hip hop and r&b to rock. The two teachers that had more of those mixes were Tonii and Michael.

    - Last but not least. I prefer old spin terminology like quarter turn, half turn, full turn, etc... A lot of the instructors say 'tap it up' 'crank it up' Sometimes I have a hard time knowing how much I should actually put on the bike at first. After about 4 classes I had a better feel for what exactly what they were wanting. But I think that's just personal preference.

Overall, I think this place is great. They have a lot to offer and I had a really great time spinning there.

I was looking for a gym/fitness studio near Sherman Oaks and happened to find Lotus Kitty when I was searching online. I don't think I've been to spinning classes more fun than this, and I love that some of the classes are combined with yoga. You'll leave the classes drenched in sweat! All the instructors are great, but I really loved Leslie and Tonni's classes. The class prices are a little on the high side, but the classes are so good that I'll probably buy more pack series in the future.

I look forward to this one hour of "me time"!!!
Great intimate Studio- fabulous helpful, motivational, and professional staff. Unlike spin classes at the gym, the instructors WANT to make sure you are to practicing safe, correct form.
I have recommended this studio to my friends- and they have signed up as they love it as well. Definitely worth it!

Finally! A studio with well-choreographed spinning! So glad I found Lotus Kitty through yelp - I was over YAS's boring routines and my fave instructor at Bally's went away. I favor good music and a variety of runs in a spin class and so far Lotus Kitty has not failed!

I've taken Leslie's power cycle/yoga class and LOVED it! Just yesterday I took Michael's power cycle/sculpt class and am glad to say I survived - definitely feeling the "good" kind of sore today. LK's good and clear instructors never make you feel bored.

It's a little out of the way for me, and a bit pricey too, but I definitely won't be a stranger to this studio!

p.s. Funny story: I parked in the underground garage in the same structure. I freaked out a little seeing that the gate was closed after a spin/sculpt class and I was locked in with my car. FYI - if this happens to you, there's a button you can push on the side that opens the gate *phew*

So the first time I took a spinning class (7 years ago), 5 minutes into it, I was thinking, "omg, why did I decide to do this? Can I get off now and fake an ankle injury? Why do I feel like puking?" and haven't tried again since. Until today. And the SAME exact thoughts went through my head again. This has nothing to do with the instructors or anything, in fact, everyone there was super nice and helpful. It was a very welcoming atmosphere.

That said, lets fast forward through the pukey feelings and 20 minutes into the class. I'm drenched in sweat and I'm pretty sure the seat is sexually harassing me... but then I'm in the "zone"... the wonderful zone where you are just doing, not thinking. I haven't felt that in so long!

After 30 minutes of cycling, then it's time for yoga. The area for yoga is quite small, but it works alright. Now I'm usually pretty good with yoga and pilates but after that cycling, I was totally off balance and weak in the knees, but I managed to pull through.

Now after all is said and done, the first class was amazing. I'm pretty sure I won't be able to sit on a bike (or anything for that matter) for another week or so, but I'm glad I found this place. Definitely a wonderful mix!

I am beyond thrilled to have found Lotus Kitty. I have done about a million lifebooker/groupon/living social deals to serve as inexpensive motivation to get my butt off the couch. This is seriously the only one that has thrilled me.

I took my first class with Vanessa, who is a fire cracker. I absolutely love her. She's got an amazing energy - she's completely hysterical but calm and centered at the same time. I did the Spin/Yoga combo, which is by far my favorite exercise activity EV-ER. I never have the time to go to both a spin and yoga class, so it is just amazing that these two activities are combined in one - not to mention they compliment each other PERFECTLY. Get crazy and torch some calories while pouring sweat, and then get centered and "declare what you want" (the mantra of the studio) afterwards. I have also taken classes with other instructors; they are all awesome.

Overall, YES. For as long as I live in Sherman Oaks, I will be working out at Lotus Kitty.

So I was like "no way will this place live up to its 5 star rating, it's just a fitness class."

    LOL. Wrong.

The instructors aren't just encouraging, they make you feel like they want you in the class and they want you to have fun. The first time I went the receptionist - who's also awesome - had me fill out some paper work and then asked me questions about my past spinning/yoga experiences to make sure I would get the attention I needed. Since I've been to spinning classes before, I really didn't need anyone to walk me through the set up, but some other beginners there needed the help and class didn't start until everyone was ready and comfortable.

The class itself is SO FUN and time goes by really fast. I've been in class with Leslie twice, and she's super great. She makes you feel comfortable going at your own pace while simultaneously encouraging you to push yourself.

When I went back the second time after my first class a week later, the girl at the front desk said "glad you came back!" and Leslie said the same. Obviously, they can look and see my information in the computer to know that I was there last week, but just the acknowledgement says a lot to me about the way they want to run their business: friendly, personal, and not intimidating. It's like the anti-fitness class environment, yet I've never gotten such a total-body workout from spinning.

Parking isn't a problem, especially in the evening. There's some free lots, and if those are full the meters are like a dollar. Look on the website for what to bring, but if you don't have some things, know that they'll probably provide it for you (i.e. yoga mats, water bottles for an extra dollar). Also, sign up online if you can. You don't need to pay online, but if you know you're definitely going to a certain class, reserve your spot. Sometimes classes fill up.

I'd recommend this class to pretty much anyone, but especially people who usually don't like fitness classes.

If you love rockin' out to cool jams and working out to a beat, this is your place.  Don't let the words yoga and kitty fool you into thinking this is some fluffy, cutesy studio with a zen ambiance.  All the instructors will work you hard in different ways.  I love taking class with Kiirsten and Leslie.  I love how they incorporate music into your work out.  They watch your form and will motivate you and push you to the next level.  I started class here through an internet special, but will continue to come.  Especially on Sundays.  I can go to Farmer's Market after class.

LOVED, LOVED, LOVED this place.  Spin and Yoga my two favorite workouts and all in one package.

I had a Groupon and had I not had this I don't think I would have ever ventured to check it out.  I had the 10 class package.

Here are the instructors I took from:
Michael:  Great instructor.  He may come off to be intimidating, but he is a nice guy.  Good looking guy, wish he would crack one extra smile in class to add to the great class.

Scott:  He is funny and I loved how he was yelling at us on our final sprint.  I need to record him so that when I go and do my triathlon I can hear him yelling at me as I go over the finish line.  I need a good yelling every once in a while.

Leslie:  Overall great in ever aspect.  I can't put my finger on it, but she really kept me going through the class.  She was really motivating.

Darnell:  I took his 7am class and he is the perfect 7am instructor.  I did not want to go to the 7am class, but I got myself there and OMG, he made it worth it.  LOVED the song "Manic" from Flashdance for our sprint song.   All that was missing was Darnell throwing water on all of us so that we could feel like sexy sweaty Jennifer Beals for 30 seconds.

Vanessa:  She was energizing and is great with fixing your form.  She got into my face for slowing down at one point and I like that.  After all why am I there anyway?  So that I can do a half fast workout?  NOOOOO.  I want to be pushed.

I had a great time.  One thing I wish was that the studio was just a tad bit bigger.  But it is what it is.  I will definitely be coming back.

An added thank you to Vanessa for extending my Groupon when I was SOOOOOO sick.  I had another Groupon from Black Dog Yoga and had to jump through a ton of hoops to get it extended.  Vanessa believed that I was sick and very generously extended the sick time.  I really do appreciate it and think that that kindness went a long way for me.

Yoga at Lotus Kitty is unlike yoga you will do anywhere else!  It's very challenging for the body and for the mind.  Not all yoga studios succeed as well at this as Lotus Kitty.  I have taken classes from Vanessa since she was working out of her home studio and there is a reason I kept coming back!  Every class I take I learn something, sometimes it's about a yoga pose; sometimes it's about me.   I have never been disappointed by any of the teachers there, Vanessa hand picks them all.

Previous injuries do not allow me to do spinning - but the few spin classes I did go to were such an entertaining challenge I was very disappointed I couldn't continue.

I now live across the country and all yoga studios must be measured up against Lotus Kitty... at least I can always come visit.  :)

Great people, great vibe and a great workout!

I am not in town that often so I really appreciate their flexibility to extending the expiration date for my Groupon coupon!

The first two classes I took were tough -- first class was with Michael on Sat and second class with with Kiirstin on Sun. I have never ever tried spin before and I had never really enjoyed cycling so I was ready to throw in the towel. But Tony (the receptionist?) was super nice and helped me set up and put in the cages. I am not sure whether it was just my second class but I feel like Kiirstin did a better job in adjusting my bike and I had a better workout experience.

Next two classes were awesome though. I would actually smile during class (shocking - I am enjoying myself?!) because I was feeling the endorphins! I really enjoyed Leslie's Cycling/Yoga classes. The yoga is a basic vinyasa flow (nothing super fancy) but it is a nice end to an intense cardio. Scott's class (Cycling/Sculpt) was pretty good as well but not as memorable.

Parking is pretty easy -- I usually just park at the grocery store parking lot across the street since I can only go to class Sat and Sun. There is a guard there at the Chase bank parking lot on the weekend so you probably don't want to park there. And there is a farmer's market on Sunday so they block off the street.

All in all, I really enjoyed Lotus Kitty Yoga & Spin. Solid 4 stars -- didn't have the best customer experience with the owner of the studio (not a complete 5).

I'm a tough one to please.  I work in the fitness industry, and I am an instructor, so for me to find something up to my standards is a miracle.  I agree with you all, Vanessa rules and I'm so happy to have found her.  I just moved 2 miles away from L.K. and I saw it while I was driving.  I've been wanting to try spinning FOREVER, and am a student of V. Flow Yoga already, so it was the perfect combo.  I LOVE places that offer an intro. special for new clients.

I never felt lost in class, even though I was brand new to spinning.  My first class was from Vanessa and my second from Michael.  They both took the time to set up my bike for me and give me some tips on what to do when.  The environment is welcoming and provides the combination of energy - DRIVE - as Vanessa says, and also relaxation for yoga... hard to have both, but it somehow works.

I also did Rock N Roll Yoga on Sunday and it ruled!!!  The teacher is so helpful and explains things much more clearly than others I've experienced.

There is nothing worse than paying for expensive classes and leaving with the feeling that you didn't get a good workout.  Lotus Kitty is very fairly priced and you feel like your money was well spent.  I would recommend this class for anyone - beginner or pro.

    Yes, 5 stars!

I am not one to like working out.  In fact, after my first class at Lotus Kitty, I swore I didn't think I'd be coming back because of how much it kicked my butt.  If it hadn't been for the instructor's encouragement about giving the class another try, and for my boyfriend dragging me to our next class, I'm not so sure I would've come back.  I complained about the seat, the intensity, the soreness... just about everything.  However, after about 3 classes, I realized I had been all wrong! There is no gain without the pain!!

I have come to enjoy this little studio and the instructors so much, that I cannot stop recommending it to everyone with whom I have a conversation about working out.  Yes, it's hard. Yes, you'll be sore in the crotch and legs for days (for me it was just about 2 weeks), but keep going!!  It's so worth it.  I know my legs, abs, butt, and even my back are stronger.  I used to suffer from chronic back pain, but now I almost rarely feel it!  I've never sweat so much in an hour in my life, and I love every second of it now!

The instructors are all wonderful.  I have my favorites, but I never check the calendar to see who's leading the class anymore.  I know no matter who it is, I'm going to have an amazing workout.  In fact, just a few nights ago, Vanessa couldn't spin for the class, so she asked my boyfriend to get on the "instructor's bike," and be the "model rider" while she gave verbal instruction.  I was so proud that she asked him, and so was he!  It was such a boost of confidence for both of us.

This place seriously makes an effort to get to know you, and their helpfulness is beyond words.  In fact, you should stop reading this and just go ahead and give them a call or go take a class now.  And if you feel like puking or not going back after that first class, try it again!  You'll be glad you did when you notice the difference in how you feel.

The instructors are all great. I especially enjoy Leslie's spin/yoga classes. It is a great balance between cardio and strength building! Her music kicks butt too! Everything from Tom Petty to Otis Redding to Run DMC.

Ultimately, this is a great studio that welcomes everyone - all fitness levels, body types, etc. No one here will make you feel self conscious, this includes the staff and fellow clients.

Last week, at 52, I did my first pushup in 40 years!  I was absolutely astonished but no-one else even noticed and I didn't care. I went on to do several more, feeling prouder and prouder. I was so stoked about what I had accomplished earlier that class that it never even occurred to me that not doing a pushup was even a possibility. Now, that's a spinning class!

When I grew out of my favourite clothes and started having some minor back worries, I signed up blindly for some classes through social media as Lotus Kitty  was a) close to home and b) not a regular gym - I just never have got the hang of all the equipment and c) it couldn't hurt, especially as it had a silly name.

I've kept coming back. I love my classes, especially with Shannon, as she is a gentle soul who encourages by example and gives me advice about alternative exercises to consider.  Everyone else has been lovely and despite my lack of speed and flexibility, I feel welcome to participate as best I can.

I love that all the instructors are truthful about how long each activity will take.  I will push really hard for 120 seconds if I know that's really how long it will be.  And it has been.  It keeps me honest with myself as well.

Other things that I like are that is clean, close and everyone is kind. Even parking is easy so there is no reason not to go to class.

I wish that some instructors would adjust the balance of voice to music so I could hear their directions better, but honestly, that is my only complaint.

Much better than my former spin home, rpm.  Music selection is better, the owner is better, it is more inspiring and most everyone there is an excellent spinner.  The combo of yoga and spin is a great one and I appreciate that even in the regular spin classes, you get a few minutes of focused stretching at the end (and sometimes combined with a bit of aromatherapy!).  Only complaint is the volume of the music some times.  Depending on where you are located in the studio, it can be deafening for those of us with sensitive hearing.  Keep forgetting to bring ear protection--it would be nice if that was provided for us (only perk of rpm!)

I bought a Groupon here in hopes of taking some yoga classes.  However, what I found was more of a spin place.  They actually didn't offer very many yoga classes, and in fact none of them fit my schedule.  That being said, I really did like the spin classes and felt like I got a good workout.  Just don't expect much yoga out of them.  They should change their name to "Lotus Kitty Spin & Yoga."

I was looking to get in shape for my upcoming wedding and saw a groupon to try out Lotus Kitty. I had never done spin or gone to a small gym but I'm so glad I did! Here are a few things that might be useful:

    Pros:
*Location, Location, Location!  10min drive for me :)
*If you are a 1st timer, they help you set up and give you individualized pointers.
    *Intense workouts. I think I lost 5lbs on my 1st class w/Vanessa!
    *Motivational teachers.
*Super awesome owner = excellent customer service, quick & attentive.
*Small studio means you get the feel of private sessions.
*Vanessa, Leslie, and Kiirsten have intense workouts, they kick your butt in a good way :D
*Shannon, Darnell, and Micheal are a bit more chill so they are great for 1st timers.
*Total body workout, spinning and then some! Class is always complemented with yoga, toning w/free weights, core exercises on the mats, and/or, stretching.
*Aromatherapy during final meditation :) I heart blood orange.
*Plenty of free parking at the nearby Chase for the PM sessions.
*Great Value. Do good for your body by purchasing a series package or unlimited monthly pass.
*Fellow spinners are friendly and diverse :)
    *LKYS = Exercise = Endorphins = Happiness.
    THEREFORE, LKYS = my Happiness.

    Cons:
*I wish they had more classes at 5PM or 6AM...I'm an early bird...zzzzzzz

FYI: I've been going to Lotus Kitty for about 7wks now and I love it! I miss the exercise if I miss a day. If you keep at it and modify your diet a bit you will see results. -8lbs in 7weeks, not bad...I'm super happy! :D

I'm totally loving this place.  If you're a spinning pro, or a newbie, you will feel comfortable here and will get a great workout.  I hadn't spun in quite awhile and was afraid I might be intimidated by a smaller, botique spin studio, but I was wrong.  All of the teachers are so friendly and the place just has a really cool vibe.  No mirrors, which means no obsessing over how you look compared to everyone else in the class, which I love.  it's very zen-like, but the workouts are hardly chill.  Every teacher I've taken from has kicked my butt, and I've loved it.  They pump the music loud, and play a wide variety of tunes, which I love.  They also do yoga, and some weights stuff for sculpting.  Love it.

I've been going here for a year and a half, and I will keep coming back. It is a great place to get in shape. There are different instructors that range from peppy encouragement to intense encouragement. There's an instructor for everyone's tastes.
The yoga at the end is a great way to stretch, and adds a deeper level of toning to the workout. It's a one-stop-shop.

I finally got brave enough to walk in the door and was wonderfully surprised by the warmth I received.  Loved the spin classes.  Music
is perfect, instructors are great.  Added bonus is the yoga stretching at the end.

I first went to Lotus Kitty because it was so close to my house..nothing beats convenience.  But I have stayed because I love the vibe, the classes are great and the price is totally reasonable!

This place is a great no-douche zone! I def recommend it if you can't stand a cliched large gym environment. The teachers are nice and they give everyone personal attention. No contracts, which is awesome. And what's really great is you don't have to buy the special spin shoes since they have bikes that you can ride with normal sneakers. They also provide mats free of charge.

Bought a "Koupon " for several classes, as a try me kind of thing.  I figured if I went a couple of times it would pay for itself.  Never tried spinning before this experience and had been a bit intimated to do so.  But this place helps everyone get set up, every time if you need it.  The spinning part can be 30 with 20 minutes or so of something else, like Yoga or free weights.  This is doable. I went at my own pace and felt great.  It is a real challenge.  They make you feel empowered.  It's a small tidy space with a good vibe.  Very LA experience and yet not pretentious at all.  I will use the balance of my classes and will drop in once every couple of weeks after that.  I did buy the special shorts with padding at a sports store and they are well worth it.  So, give it a try and sweat a little bit more and leave feeling challenged, proud and a little be  tired, but in a good way.

This is my other favorite spin studio in the neighborhood (Sherman Oaks-Studio City area).  It's nice to spin in a peaceful environment built for yoga classes.  The teachers are intensely good and the yoga and ab exercises after spin classes will work you like no other.  Very impressed with this small studio.

The Sunday Rock and Roll yoga class with Heathor is awesome. What's better than getting sweaty to amazing tunes (U2, Muse, Led Zep in yoga, hell yea!) She's relatable, funny and welcoming. This is the first yoga class where I didn't feel intimidated as a newby. No LA attitude. Cool people, cool studio and the owner Vanessa is amazingly warm and damn hot too!

Zen meets hardcore. Instructors are fun. Crowd is cool. I have been to several spin classes and really find these challenging. I enjoy the Spin Yoga combo class for something different. Vanessa and Stacy make you feel welcome regardless of experience. Music volume is great. It could be louder for me but I am sure that is too loud for most. I drive from Woodland Hills.

This place is incredibly wonderful.  I was in a space of looking for peace of mind while seeking an intense workout as I do enjoy putting my body through the ringer when it comes to physical activity, and came cross Lotus Kitty, as I saw it had both.  I was not only sold on the  intimate atmosphere, but only after 3 weeks of attending my first yoga and spin experience I was noticing my body was becoming tighter throughout.  In specific reference to my thighs and upper hamstring area, even my arms, and stomach were really tightening up even more.  I was, and am, still only going three times a week with spin and yoga, sometimes one or the other, and by the third week I took a look at myself in the mirror and recognized, "Oh my Gosh, my legs are  smoother and tighter, even my arms, and everywhere else, whoa."  I was... also cheating, on occasion, on the food side every now and again  (I eat  clean regularly) and still finding a very toned figure,  (not that I recommend cheating for the diet) and throughout my peace of mind, I have found balance, growth, and a comfort within which has brought me a sustain level of mobility and inner strength which was my first thought process in the beginning.  The added toned arms, legs, and abs were/are a complete bonus.  I will be continuing to attend Lotus Kitty and speak very highly of her studio and practice. Thank you, Vanessa.

This is a great spin studio.  No actress wannabes trying to pass themselves off as trainers until their big break.  This is a real studio, with a great workout that will have you begging for mommy at the end.  Music is great, motivation is there and Vanessa and Stacy rock.
I went to THE RIDE and just couldn't tolerate paying $15 for a mediocre class.  The prices are better here, especially if you buy a series and the class is just BETTER.  This is why people go to private studios instead of a gym, you get the full workout and you see the results.

I love Lotus Kitty...my first workout in 3 years after having my daughter. I started about 6 weeks ago and I am totally hooked. All the teachers are great - some are tougher than others (Vanessa! :-)). There's a very open and laid back vibe, the music is amazing and location is great. I am new to spin, but not yoga and I can say without a doubt that the yoga is top notch...in my opinion so is the spin, I just don't have a lot to compare to. So glad I checked out Lotus Kitty...it's already made a huge positive impact on my life! Oh - and no mirrors....which is really awesome and makes it a lot easier to focus inwards....

So I am a 28 year old guy who has never done spin or anything like this. I consider myself in great shape. So I thought I would come in there and take a few classes for some easy cardio. Boy was I wrong. It was hands down one of the hardest hours of exercise I have ever had. I never thought as a 200lb man that a bunch of 100lb girls could be tougher than me.haha  I need to say that though I was an obvious newbie; everybody was super welcoming and supportive. My instructor was amazing. The studio was simple. And everybody there came to exercise. What more could you ask for.   I have a whole new respect for woman and what yal go through to stay in shape.

I thought it was a sign when I found out that the owner and I share the same first name.  I went because I had seen the studio from visiting the farmer's market that takes place right outside their front door every Sunday.  I started with Rock-and-Roll yoga with Heather, which is awesome! Then, I got bitten by the spin bug with Leslie for the "just spin" on Friday nights and as my schedule allows I will eventually try eveything they have to offer.  I love the atmosphere and the non-pretensious way that this place is handled and run.  Professional yet fun with the best music you can imagine!  I love the logo and the tank top that I bought.  I recommend this place to anyone looking to get in shape for mind, body and soul.
