Been coming here since 2002! Can I tell you how amazing it is for great Mexican food in the middle if the night after a night of drinking! It's always open and even on Christmas night! It's a definite plus!
Portions are generous and it's yum yum good!! I think when the guys are cooking, there's a little more in the burritos and carne asada fries and chips! Ask for sour cream to go with the carne asada burrito. The carne asada fries or chips were amazing and great for sharing.
It's a great place and I hope everyone is too scared to come because the lines will be longer than it already is. However I have to share how great this place is even if it's in a very shady area;) -

A friend of mine from work recommended this place to me, so I made a quick side trip, on my way home to pick a chimichanga, because I was in the mood. When I arrived the place was not very busy. On the menu they had a choice of carne asada, pollo asado, and shredded beef chimichangas. I ordered the pollo asado chimi and a side of rice.
I watched the lady as she grilled up the chicken, ladled the re-fried beans on the huge warm flour tortilla, then she put the chicken on the tortilla, and rolled it up nice and tight and gently put it in the fryer.
When the whole thing was done, she sat it in the container, poured guacamole onto one half of the beast and sour cream on the second half, and finally sprinkled a generous amount of cheddar cheese all over the chimichanga. (http://www.yelp.com/bi... The chimichanga was large enough for two people and at $4.95, it is quite a bargain. The the chicken was flavorful and plentiful. (http://www.yelp.com/bi...) The re-fried beans were very good and so was the guac. I enjoyed it very much.
The rice was a big hit in my book. It was very well prepared. It was loose, not greasy and full of flavor. (see pic) It was some of the better Mexican rice I have had. The half pint of rice was $1.55.
The actual place is not much to look at. If you see the pictures, it color scheme is very typical for a taco shop. It could use an upgrade.
Can you say Chimi, Chimi, Chimi, Changa......... -

Ok so I decided to take a leap of faith and try out the Carne Asada Fries. I have to say I am not a fan, they gave me a lot of fries, barely any carne asada and the other toppings I asked for. The customer service was less than friendly as well. This time I went and there were all ladies and she was trying to milk me for everything. She said that there's a charge to use a card, when I have been there 3 other times and there was never a charge, I asked her if it was new she said no. Then she said 0.50 cent charge and another woman in the back said no its $1.00 charge so her way of giving me a "discount" was saying it was 0.50 cent charge. Needless to say if I go back I will make sure to either have cash or not go when the women are there. It wasn't pleasant this time around.

Review from Bev M.
went here last night and got the cali with no fresca, add guac. The carne asada was excellent. cooked perfectly with a great taste. the french fries werent done and i agree with the other yelper about the tortilla issue. they could have easily double the amount of insides and actually filled out the burrito.
the neighborhood is sketch at best and the drive through window is made for suvs and trucks so if you have those good on ya but i drive a civic so it was a bit of a challenge. the hot sauce was yum.
defnitely be back and try other stuff. the carne was honestly the best i've had at any east county shop, by far -

Size matters!
CONS:
-If the GPS didn't take me here, there was no waaaaay on earth I would have traveled to this place alone. It's ghetto, especially at night.
-The drive through sucks for SUV's, trucks or any other large cars. You'll have to reverse and pull forward until you've positioned yourself at the window to pay. As you are trying to straighten out your car, you'll come across a house to your right that sells used cars (just FYI- pointless).
-The burrito was long but on one side of the burrito, the tortilla was a quarter of an inch thick. I mean, don't get me wrong, I know the extra tortilla is fine but it's like they added that extra thickness for filler. I could have done without that.
-I was too scared to go inside to order (night time)
PROS:
-2 carne asada burritos (meat and guacamole (onion, tomatoes and avocado) for $10 and some change. Cheap.
-The burrito was the size of my wrist to ALMOST elbow but round enough to hold with one hand. (That just sounded really gross)
-Over all, the burrito was really flavorful but the tortilla can really get to you. The meat isn't seasoned so the guacamole gives it all the flavor. It isn't seasoned because one of the burritos, we ordered just the meat. That's how I know it wasn't seasoned.
I'll be back for the carne asada burrito with everything but I'll remember to pull out as much tortilla as possible so that it can still hold the stuff inside. -

I lived a few blocks from this joint and thanks to Yelp I found my new fave Mex fast food.
The rolled tacos are the shiz and the carne asada burrito is gooood. Affordable, delicious, and never too busy (also has a drive thru which is a huge plus). -

Loretos Taco Shop is my favorite shop in the spring valley/la mesa area for carne asada burritos and carne asada chips.
They have excellent value for your $$. The burritos are huge and so are the nachos. If you are starving, this is the place. Food is fresh and they can put your order together quickly.
The location can be a bit scary but it is always worth it. -

Santa Ana, CA
Craptastic looking taco shop complete with the red and yellow paint job - might even scare the faint of heart, but truth be told, they know their way around some chicken, some avocados and certainly some carne asada.
Open all the time, priced right, serving my beloved jamaica - they now take credit/debit cards, so there is no reason to deny yourself some of the best taco shop eatin' EVER!
Try the chicken tacos (holy smokes - tender, juicy chicken, REAL cheese (cheddar and cotija), the carne asada (melt in your mouth good) and the guacamole (not that radioactive fake ass guac!).
Oh, and did I mention that the salsa kicks ass?
Truly a hidded gem! -

I had a Texano burrito here once 5 years ago.
I think about that burrito often, that's how good it was.
They take something so simple and make it mind blowing.
I am so happy I found this place again and plan on driving out of my way often to eat the most amazing Mexican food. -

After indulging at a local dive bar with my buddy Marisol, we ended up here. It's funny because I thought we had traveled a long way but apparently it was just up the street from where we had been. Anyway, munchies were indeed in order! We got a huge plate of carne asada fries. Im not sure we did much talking while shoveling this delicious food into our mouths. We were being watched by four guys who seemed intrigued by the laughing and pig-ish way we ate. They were especially curious after Marisol spilled a 42 ounce cup of water on the table and all over me! We were dissolved in laughter ... if they don't have our pictures up by the "we have the right to refuse service to anyone" sign, we will be back

Whenever I leave the city for an extended period of time and start craving that good Mexican (fast)food that clogs your arteries and leaves you smiling, I think of this place. First off, the place is open on Christmas, New Years, etc. It'll be open on Armaqgeddon. When going for a full gut, get a Pollo or Carne Asada Fries plate and be done with it. If you eat here, you're obviously not looking to eat healthy, you want massive amounts of good food for a great price. This place may lack in appearances, but it blows all the other places I've eaten at away. Plus it lacks the "oh look at me" crowd that go to places like Super Sergio's. This is a place where everyone around the area knows it's probably best to mind your own business, so you actually get left alone to eat in peace.

Spring Valley, CA
First off because of the neighborhood I wouldn't recomend stopping and eating in. However, I find the neighborhood and run down appearance seems to add a credit to the authenticity of the place. I've eaten here quite a bit and am a staple customer of the cali burritos and carne asada fries. As far as bang for your buck there is no where better 5 dollars for a cali burrito the size of your forearm weighing in at atleast a pound and a half. The meat was tender yet with a crisp chargrilled outside, the fries are always right out of the fryer and the veggie mix must be grown in the back with its fresh taste. With being open 24 hours this place can't beat, if you are in the area stop by and give it a go.

La Mesa, CA
Wow, Yelpers you have not let me down!! This place is in a totally crappy area but they more than make up for it with the food! Hands down the best burritos in the area! I had a carne asada and the husb had a California - both were HUGE and heavy - and DELISH! The carne has so much more flavor than any other places we're tried (and we eat a lot of Mexi!). The only thing my husb said would have made the Cali better would have been guacamole... you can always just have them add it.
