I love the moose.
Drinks are inexpensive, the menu is $5.95 for all items- and they are some classy items. (i had Ahi Tuna on a roll, tasted like a vietnamese sub, but with tuna- so good)
Wings are good there- not the best, but they aren't overly breaded, or anything, great selection of flavors, and overall pretty damn good.
I ALWAYS recommend this restaurant. Music is good, service staff are happy, its a great vibe.
(Get there early as the place is kinda small and there arent a lot of tables, and people sit for hours) -

i only had a glass of wine here. Sorry but the service wasn`t great... and I find it super tacky when places that obviously do well in sales don`t have on hand debit and require you to use thier bank machine that has a stupidly high surcharge for using.
Sucks for the waitress because if I have to pay a banking surcharge then they don`t get a tip. Not to mention that specific day thier bank machine wasn`t working properly and I have to travel in the rain to get cash for them.
The house wine was alright though.
I`d probably give them a second chance though, -

Went to the Moose for the 5.95 steak special. Our server was friendly and attentive, but something about this place gives me bad vibes. Maybe it was the guy behind the bar.. I'm not sure. Anyways, enough of my hippy senses.
Our steak specail was great. You really can't complain for 5.95 you get a steak, 4 shrimp, and a side of salad ( I sure as hell wasn't expecting a 5 course meal setup). I didn't end up with a tummy ache so it was good enough for me! The drinks are alright, not cheap so it's sub par for me.
If I'm in the area on a Sunday again, I'll be there for the steak n shrimp again.
Also, the washroom is GROSS. I felt like I was going to catch something by touching anything. LOL. -

Do you like heavy metal? Yes? Do you like cheap? Yes? Well then this place is for you.
I'm not a big fan of the metal myself, but I'll never admit that while inside this establishment. Dang though is this place ever a-rockin on a Friday night. Loud, and racous. Music videos blaring, people singing along, and yelling the inevitable "wooo" every few minutes.
The menu is of the "one-price for everything" variety. $5.95 got me a chicken chili wrap filled with with rice and lettuce and a side of fries. Heaven's on Fire it took care of my Unskinny Bop business, as we bought Round and Round of beer.
Give me an R! -

Maybe it was because I came here on game night and couldn't care less about how our boys in blue perform on ice, but this place seriously sucked. The food, the service, the noise, everything about it was not something I'm ever keen on trying again.
The waitresses too over 10 minutes to even notice we were there, and only after I grabbed menus from the bar. Then she was incredibly pushy about drinks, asking us if we'd like some overpriced, for a Thursday afternoon, bottle of local swill. Again, this might be the fault of our local heroes on TV, but their selection was priced as where a single beer cost as much as the whole meal. I insisted we wait until our food comes to order a drink, at which point she took the menus and indignantly got us water.
The food is exactly as advertised, everything is exactly $5.95 except for their "Nachos for 2" which is about double. The meals sound appetizing, but the reality of them is absolutely hilarious and somewhat insulting. I ordered their pasta variety, which was described as "Pasta filled with beef and cream cheese and covered in a savory sauce with a side of salad." What, dear reader, could this POSSIBLY be describing but "A slice of Presidents Choice lasagna stuffed in a porcelain cup with two pieces of lettuce covered in basil on the side"?
My date got their chicken wrap, which was more like frozen chicken breast, lettuce, and tomato dethawed in a stiff burrito with a side of two peices of lettuce and three strands of carrot. Both salads were topped with a thick dressing of f balsamic vinegar and canola oil. But hers cost an extra $1.50. Seriously, there were about as many vegetables in it as a fast food burger.
A valid rebuttal to bad diner food is often that it's not some bland burger fast food." But you would be absolutely wrong, because fast food, even ikea, is more nutritious and tasty than this betrayal will ever be.
So we avoided paying for a drink, and if I was feeling more rude I would have stiffed the waitress on her tip as well, instead opting to pay under thanks to some holiday cheer. Seriously, I know this place is cheap, but I personally know "GOOD" cheap from " shit promo to get college kids to blow their trust fund" cheap. -

Came here for some nachos and beer.
Parking here is only available on the street, so save a tree and walk here.
All dishes here are $6, except for the "Nachos for 2" which is $12. Beers are also $6, which is somewhat decent.
The inside of the bar reminds me a lot of the nearby Warehouse. It does have a bit of a "ski lodge" feel, and the typical upbeat rock playing in the background.
Drink specials only exist for Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday. Food specials exist on those days as well. So you may want to gun for those days.
The nachos weren't bad, but the toppings were uneven. Half of the chips were bare. Fortunately there was a giant bowl of sour cream and salsa. Which brings us to the next problem. There was no guacamole.
Staff were friendly, so no complaints there.
The food and drink here is half-decent, but you'd be here mainly to save a few bucks. -

Wings are pretty small, and I would say over done. This added to their dryness. Our wings also took 45min during a midweek lunch when the place was pretty empty. Not sure I'd head back. Staff was pleasant though.

This place is great. Just off of Granville St. close to the heart of the city the Loose Moose, or Moose Vancouver as they are now calling themselves, has excellent food at an extremely affordable price; almost everything on the menu is priced at $5.95, whether it be an appetizer or a rib dinner.
Looks can be deceiving, that is true for the Moose, when you walk in it looks like a run down biker bar with the waitress leather-clad and pierced, but when the food and drinks hit the table you are transported straight to heaven.
I usually get the turkey club, which is delicious, but you can't go wrong with anything at the Moose especially priced at $6 for a full plate of food.
I go here whenever I'm on Granville St! -

Well everything on the menu is $5.95 and every day there is some sort of special. Tuesdays is 25cents wings but Mondays are the best, as its $5.95 for a full rack of ribs. Not bad for the price and the service is fantastic. Can't fault this place on any given night for dinner. You'll have to make sure you arrive early as they sell out of ribs quickly and sometimes you might have to wait a little for a table. They don't do big groups as they only have a few booths and they seat a max of about 6 people.
It was lots of big screen tvs and the obvious loud music (from the 80's to metal and punk). It has a run down biker sports bar feel and the clientele that night were majority snowboarders for some reason. The last few times we were here, it was freezing as well as they have the fans going eventhough its snowing outside. Not the most comfortable to eat ribs when I have my winter jacket on but will definitely be back for more ribs. -
Review from Rohan S.
This is one of the best bars in Vancouver. It's not pretentious, the vibe and atmosphere is casual, the music is great and it's just a great place to hang out for a few pints with friends.
There is a great selection of beer in bottles, a good selection on tap and the usual selection of cocktails. The food is here also fantastic! Great nacho's, great meat balls (they call them moose balls).
The music here is great, they've got TV's everywhere and play concert DVD's throughout the night. They night we were there, they worked their way through an AC/DC and Def Leppard concert.
If you're tired of the usual bar scene in Vancouver this is the place to go! -

Considering how cheap this place is, I was very impressed with how good the food is. I have been here a number of times, and the food has always been excellent
-The chicken wings are plump, tasty and you get lots.
-The sweet Thai chicken wrap was soooooo awesome! Full of chicken and comes with a yummy side salad that actually consists of more then just lettuce.
-Beef Dip was cooked to perfection with lots of meat in it and the bun was also impressive, It too comes with side salad.
Music is really good- it caters to the hard rock/metal crowd. It can be kinda loud so if your looking for a quiet place to eat you may want to look elsewhere.Listed in: Downtown Vancouver, Yummmmm

Hmm - this place has changed... a lot.
First off, I think the name is now 'Moose Lounge'... come on now... everyone loves loose... meese?
All menu items are now $5.95 - seems like this area of Granville is now the everything-is-$X.XX-or-less-cheap-eats area with the Factory and Famous Warehouse nearby.
My pulled pork sammich was predictably ho-hum - but what do really expect from $6 pulled pork with fries in a bar? I think I saw a sign for $5.95 steak and prawn (note: SINGULAR) daily special (I think Sunday or Monday)... if you ever order this, please order it like this: "I would like $5.95 worth of steak and prawn, please" and have exact change. It would be a big checkmark in your life.
I would have absolutely loved this place if I was still in university... alright filling food sold by volume... the fact that everything is so cheap and no one had any outright disgust from their food is a good point on them.
$3.75 PBR cans on Sunday night and waitress was very attentive and fast.
Come here for cheap food and an pretty good rock dive vibe... go elsewhere for your promiscuous elk fix.Listed in: A Compendium of Fine…

Officially I want to go on record saying that I thought the bartender was seriously cute way before I had all those drinks. If there are any modeling agents out there reading this go now to the Moose and sign this guy up. Sorry I have no idea what his name is.
Anyway back to the moose. Interesting menu, everything is $5.95, everything. Tonight was 25 cent wing nite and they were fine wings for 25 cents. There were 9 various flavours ranging from Maple Garlic to Pickle. The cute bartender said he highly recommended the Pickle flavour so who was I to argue. My friend went with traditional hot buffalo.
It a cool place and we managed to get a seat right in the open floor to ceiling window tables so you felt like the outside was an extension of the bar. Traditional rock was playing and there seemed like your typical Vancouver customers, nickel and dime drug dealers, drunk girls and guys who went straight from the construction site to the bar.
The wings came in little stainless steel buckets and damn if that bartender nailed it when he said Pickle was the best flavour. He came up to the table and said "How much do you hate me now" after half the wings were gone. I looked at him and said "not at all" even though the Singapore Sling he made me sucked large. But he makes a mean ceasar, not the salad.
Overall a great place, convenient for me, next door to work and who can say no to wings and a cute bartender. -
Review from Renee C.
So, this girl walks into the bar and asks the bartender for a high-maintenance drink. And the bartender says to the girl....hmmm, I don't have half the ingredients, but i can make if for you but it won't be a good one. We definitely don't have cinnamon sticks.
No joke True story. And the moral of this story is that this is what I love about this place - no pretenses, it just is what it is. And no judgy. Even a 'blueberry tea" they were wiling to try their best - I have had the response once before from a bartender elsewhere: "Seriously? No."
The Sunday dinner special is always a hit, and I just really like meeting up with friends here. For some no pretense, good time, fun. -

We spent the whole day on Saturday up and down Granville street doing some shopping, eating and some serious drinking hahah.. The Moose was one of our many stops and although not my favorite, it was perfectly suited to our early evening fiasco. We sat at the bar and the bartender was quick and easy to deal with. He wasn't spectacular but that was fine with us.. we just wanted a few shots and a beverage before heading to our next troublemaking spot. I love days like that and the Moose fit right in.

A friend and I were looking for a place with a patio and cheap beer for a Monday afternoon drink (I love summer!). Walked by the Moose (apparently the moose is no longer loose!), and stopped in because they had a pseudo patio (aka the front window was open), and they had $3.75 cans of some type of cheap beer - not bad for Granville. The place was good for sitting and chatting and people watching (although there's a public toilet almost directly across the street).
Not sure if I'll be back, purely because I prefer Gastown over Granville. But if you're in the neighbourhood looking for cheap American beer on Granville, this place is always an option! -
Review from Wendy Y.
I needed to find an eatery close to the Orpheum on a Tuesday night. I checked my partner's Entertainment Book and Loose Moose was the pick as it fitted all my criteria: cheap, good, and close to the Orpheum.
My buddy and I arrived at around 6:15PM and the place was 90% full. We were standing by the door for a while until a large group came in and told us we can seat ourselves and pointed out the sign. Note to self for to avoid future embarassment - find and read the sign.
My buddy and I seated ourselves and a cute waitress came by and told us about Wings Tuesdays. So when you order a drink with a pound of wings (12 wings) of your choice from 9 flavors, the wing is $0.25 each (or $3.00 per pound). We got 1 lb of hot wings, 1 lb of BBQ sauced wings, a beef dip, and a house salad.
The wait time was slightly long as the house was pretty full. But the wait was well worth it. Our drinks came first. Buddy ordered a Long Island iced tea and a cranberry juice for me. Both were pretty good. Iced tea tasted better than the ones from Nestle cans. My cranberry juice was as good as Ocean Spray. A while later, all 4 dishes came. Wings were well glazed and plumped. The beef dip had lots of beef. The bread was toasted lightly and warmed throughout. I have to elaborate on the bread because it's done perfectly to my liking. I have problems with restaurants that toast their breads to "crunchy" because that'd shave if not puncture the roof of your mouth. How can you enjoy your meal if you had wounds in your mouth? So a job well done on the bread. The fries were (temperature speaking) hot and plentiful. Yay. Salad was mediocre. Meh. The salad dressing, balsamic vinegar I think, tasted "funny".
The bill came out to about $30. It was pay up time when we found out they don't accept Entertainment Book coupons anymore because they changed the name to "The Moose" and the coupon only applies to "Loose Moose". Regardless my buddy and I had a great time at the bar.Listed in: Bar Food

I'm from seattle, so walking around Robson St was kind of an eye opener, seemed like something out of old vegas.
A kind homeless man named Patrick suggested My buddy and I head to this place for drinks. Needless to say, what a great find.
Their prices here are phenomenal, their regular menu has an expansive selection of food, and amazingly low prices for what you get. Heck, some bars in Seattle don't even have these prices during happy hour.
The staff is really friendly, and so were the patrons in general. However, we did come to the conclusion that Hockey in Canada is like Nascar for the south. Lots of fights/crashes. -
Review from Rodney W.
About a fifteen minute walk from the hotel and I think it is worth the walk. Cool little hole in the wall type of pub; not dirty or a dive. Thursday night is slider night where you can get sliders for $1 each with a minimum order of two. These looked and tasted as they were a flat fry burger, similar to a Schoops, Carvers or Steak and Shake for anyone from the Mid-West. They were great, hot fresh and tasty. Only had a couple of them and it was a great snack; had more room for Guinness(pub can only).
Overall a great experience; waitress was friendly and noticed when the beer glass was empty which I think is an important skill when it disappears quickly, mmmmm Guinness..... beer flavored milk! -

Always a good time! This is pretty much my fave place for a casual drink anytime, any day... Well, with the exception of Friday and Saturday nights, and only because nothing is worth navigating your way through all the slags and eighteen year old boys trying to act like somebodies by clubbing on Granville.
That isn't the Loose Moose's fault though. In fact, if they had their way, i'm sure Iron Maidens mascot, Eddie, would be spitting blood from his mouth and charging at them while 5,000,000 guitars wailed in the background. You know how at most places, you go in during the day and the music is rad, then suddenly at 8pm they dim the lights and put on shitty dinner house music? Well, at the Moose they put on metal and hard rock. Fuck yea!
As for food and drinks... Top notch! They make a mean caesar, and everything else is pretty damn spot on too! They have TONS of chicken wing flavors, so if you go on a Wednesday when they're on special, bring your friends! Trust me. I've also always been impressed that even though it's typical pub fare, it's never too greasy and the ingredients are always fresh. If you get a side salad with your meal, it's actual spring mix lettuce and a damn tasty balsamic dressing, not shitty iceberg lettuce with some thousand island bullshit.
I've gone here for a lot of family dinners and it's always a hit cause it's so easy to get to and chill. If your family is cool and needs a place for dinner n drinks, this one gets my stamp of approval! -

I have had a few 5 star rock out nights, and also some pretty lame 1 star duds over the years. So I am going straight down the middle here, with a bit of a round up.
5 stars for the mullet worthy tunes that blare after the hockey game ends.
1 star for the gate keepers of the front doors. Why you gotta make people line up when you aren't at capacity? That's just lame man.

Review from Dani B.
Decided to stop in for a quick drink before a concert and immediately I was put off.
The bouncer (this place needs a bouncer?) made us wait so he could check if there was a table open, even though I could look in and see several available.
After he let us in I went straight to the bar only to have the bartender deny me service (apparently if you sit at a table you MUST order from the server).
Aside from those two set backs, the server was nice and the drinks aren't totally pricey, but this place isn't something I would go out of my way for.
They were super prompt about giving us our bill and I made it to the show on time (and a bit tipsy) so I guess this place wasn't half bad. -
Review from Kat S.
I've been here several times and have had pretty disappointing service. The place itself is kinda fun and casual, which is nice. And maybe I have just had bad luck with the waitresses, but I have had one that was downright rude, and one that was really forgetful.
The food is so-so. The nachos are decent, though.
What I really don't like about this place are their bathrooms. Gross! There are just two side by side single person rooms, which despite the labels on them get used by whoever is in line first. So the girls room always ends up with piss on the floor and is just disgusting.
The old iMac at the till is pretty cute, though. -

The Loose Moose has that feel of a friend's cabin--as though you could be partying by a lake in the woods rather than just a half-block from the Granville strip.
The beer flows and the music blares (very loudly). I can imagine that things here have been known to get rowdy. If you're looking for a spot to drink with friends and prefer to chill at the same spot rather than sample all of the nightlife offerings, the Moose is the place for you. And your friends too. -
Review from Cameron M.
Toronto, ON
The Loose Moose, consider its just off Granville is a nice change of pace from a lot of the plastic feeling bars along the strip. Granted it's not above the 'crazy crap on the walls' angle but you genuinely feel the owners took a little care in making a place that reflects their wackiness.
The atmosphere isn't anything amazing. Rowdy as others have said. It can range from very quiet to completely packed depending on the day and event. still there's enough seating usually to go around.
What stands out here and nabs the four stars from me though is the food. It's pubby and greasy ,yes, but it has enough interesting twists and unexpected care taken in its prep that really makes it stand out. I for one am a fan of the poutine. It's hard to compete with Fritz right there and it does pale in comparison but you can't get beer at Fritz and nothing's finer than a huge plate of fries with a couple of drinks. When I'm hungry along Granville and looking to drink, I always consider the Loose Moose when I'm craving something a little more meaty and down-home. -

I can't say I've ever been here and not had a good time.
I always laugh when the one guy bartends in his underwear because it gets so hot in there the summer. And the staff are always so relaxed and friendly (unless you went during the Olympics - but pretty much every bar downtown was in a frazzled frenzy then) and they sometimes wear makeshift name-tags made from duct tape and a sharpie with ironic names and catch phrases.
All in all a pretty fun place. -

Beer with a side of rowdy - come to the Moose if you like metal and other loud music while you throw back your brew. The atmosphere is definitely relaxed, but this isn't a place you'd take your Dad (unless your Dad is Tom Araya).
They have a kitchen that pumps out pub grub to munch while you watch the game on one of the many TVs around the place. There's plenty of room here to meet up with friends. If you're on your own, belly up to the bar and get to know the saucy staff. -

this is a very cool find!
I checked into my hotel and went walking looking for a good bite. The side of the place caught my eye...the KISS mural with the slogan 'rockin 8 days a week'! greatly answered my prayers.
The waitress had blue hair was very cheeky and attentive. i ordered a burger and fries and devoured every last bite.
the only drawback was i couldn't wash my beer down with a cigarette, but thats Canada eh? -

This is place is a bit rowdy, but that's kind of why I like it. The closest bar to Cinematheque has me at here before a movie, or after. I'm not always in the mood for a loose moose, but when I am, it's fun.

1/23/2010...We'd been in Vancouver for about 2 weeks and I was beginning to lose hope that I would find a decent little burger bar until I walked into the Loose Moose. It happened to be a Canucks game night and I saw the chalkboard outside that said "Burger and Beer Special $8.99". We were surprised (unfamiliar with these type of food specials here) and just HAD to go inside to see if they had made a mistake. Sure enough, it was the correct price. Holly was a GREAT server and made it fun to be there. We were given the option of Chicken instead of Burger so I thought we'd try one each. 2 Pints and Beef and Chicken...not bad for just under $20. Infact, the chicken breast was thick and juicy - DELICIOUS. The burger was GOOD too! (I just had to sneak a bite) For a local bar/pub it's small, but the people are nice and the service and food are GOOD.
