Well another location that I am a regular at for over the last 25 years. I remember when they had the fire and it was closed, not good for us regulars. Well when it opened it was just the same.
Since I have been going there I get my same booth the one in the left corner near the kitchen. The staff has changed some but my girl Eva is still there better then ever. She know what I want as soon as I come in C5. I have my son the same way C2 and always followed by an extra egg roll. Service is great and the good is always fresh and great.
Lunch time special are from 11:30 to 2:30 and it is busy especially on pay day. Stop bye and tell Eva her favorite customer sent you. -

Average Canadian Chinese food. However the egg rolls are heavenly, the filling is kind of mushy but it's like... The most flavorful mush ever to exist. I went here for lunch and the portions were really small and I don't remember it being cheap, the egg rolls totally bumped it up a star.

Look Ho Ho is one of those neighbourhood institutions - it's been around forever. Everyone's parents have gone to the Look Ho Ho (and you probably did too!).
The menu is your standard Chinese food fare. Of particular note are the egg rolls - delicious! Typical veggie dishes do well here; the meat is generous and the vegetables are tender without being overcooked.
The dining room is of average size and seems to be quite quiet. I will confess to only having delivery or take-out, so can't advise on the quality of the service. The dishes are always piping hot when they reach my place, though, so they're doing something right!
The Look Ho Ho is a decent option for take-out in this area of Halifax. Unfortunately, I have to say that they don't (as of this publishing date) offer debit on delivery, which has meant we passed them by several times in favour of those restaurants who do. -

Look Ho Ho is one of the most underrated places in town. Sure, Chang's is good and Jean's is cheap - but Look Ho Ho has, by far, my favorite egg rolls and gets my vote for the best overall experience.

This is your average OK Chinese restaurant. Don't expect to be wowed and transported to the Asian continent. It's just Canadian style Chinese food. Now if your a big fan of Canadian style Chinese food you will be very happy here because they check all the boxes for that kind of fair. I'm a little pickier and like more authentic Chinese that is more home made and wholesome. You won't find that here. Everything is salted a lot however, you can ask and get reduced salt and no MSG. That I do like. I have eaten here when overtired and not wanting to cook and have found a few dishes I like such as the Sub Gum Wonton and the noodle dishes. They really are not bad for Canadian style Chinese, it's just that I like to be wowed with authentic. The service is friendly and fast and the restaurant is clean. Surroundings are adequate, not standing out as special. This is really just a very friendly local restaurant that has good neighborhood ties and offers solid Chinese Food in Canadian style. I know people think this is an under-rated place but I just don't get that. It's average to me. However I suppose there are a lot of bad Chinese places around to compare it to. Perhaps this is the difference. I say have at it if you love Canadian Chinese. Otherwise look elsewhere.

It was just OK! Nothing out of this world, but it certainly wasn't bad. Service was great! If you are looking for average chinese food, this is fine.

I have taken the bus many times to the Halifax Shopping Centre, and every time I pass by Look Ho Ho, and every time I get really excited.
Neon lights, a giant dragon, this HAS to be the home of the ever elusive crispy AND spicy chinese meal.
Look Ho Ho, so good they named it twice.
However, I only wish it could have been true... When myself and a friend entered, it was a bad sign when the restaurant was filled with the elderly and the placemat read "Chinese Cuisine is our specialty..."
Nothing on the menu specified spicy or crispy, so I asked. The waitress didn't think there was anything that matched that description, so instead I ordered the szechuan beef, with extra spice. Because I asked for extra spice, the chef needed to be asked if it was "okay."
Also not a good sign.
When the food did arrive, the portions were ample, but there was little beef and mostly vegetables. It wasn't spicy as well, so hot sauce was needed. The wait staff was also not quite as attentive as I would have liked.
All in all though, the vegetables were fresh and the portion size was good, if not the ratio, but I would not recommend Look Ho Ho for a dinner where the diner was looking for something special.

When I don't feel like cooking, I often dash over to Look Ho Ho for an order of Singapore noodles, ginger beef and spring rolls.
Those dishes are delicious, but I haven't strayed a lot farther into the menu, because I figure, hey, once you've found something you like, why risk getting something less delightful?
Still, I had been told for years that their egg rolls were fantastic, but I hadn't ventured into that territory until recently. It was a weird, but rewarding, venture. The egg rolls are filled with a sort of pureed spiced meat mixture. Not quite what I was expecting, but after a few bites, I was hooked. Now I go around craving the Look Ho Ho's egg rolls all the time.
Ah, the price of experimentation. -

I have to give stars to this restaurant. I have been frequenting this establishment for a long time. It is an old neighborhood favorite.
We always get the Singapore Noodles (extra spicy, no shrimp). The Eggs Rolls are different for some people ( they are a meat texture), but we love them, have for years. No matter where we go, no other egg rolls compare.
At Christmas is it packed, take out flying out the door in droves. Not a seat to be had, but well worth the wait.
It is the place that if you go, you will see someone you know. The staff is excellent. Our favorite is Eva, ask for her.
