Review from Amanda L.
I stopped in the Longhorn for some drinks during the Telus World Ski and Snowboard Festival and overall enjoyed the ambiance but found that they were really gouging anyone that wasn't ordering buckets of Kokanee.
Drinks were expensive, waitresses seemed disorganized and all over the place (although friendly), the bathroom is down in the ski rental shop and the outdoor seating is not heated...but that being said I would try it again if I am back in Whistler not in the middle of a huge festival! -
Review from Chris N.
Not a bad place for lunch, but gosh it is expensive. The three of us ran up an $80 bill, and we didn't even get anything out of the ordinary.
A burger alone will run you around $15. I ordered the Gardenburger "California style", which included salsa, guac and jalapenos. It was decent, and they fact that they offered a Gardenburger was certainly appreciated, but even with fries I couldn't see how $15 was justified. There was barely any guac or jalapenos, and the fries, while decent, were nothing exciting. Throw in a $7 beer, and you're already over $25 with their ridiculously high tax.
But it is convenient, right at the bottom of the mountain, and I get the feeling that this could be a fun place to party at night. Still, it is hard to justify spending that much money on a quick lunch, and that was with only one beer. If you're looking for a big night out, you'll need a credit card with a high limit.
Also (and this seems to be common in the village), the restaurant didn't have its own bathroom. It looked like there was in the back, but once you follow the sign, you're suddenly outside. Keep following the signs and you'll eventually find the crowded bathroom downstairs in the Carlton Lodge. Quite a journey. -

Upon my arrival (not yet in the door)
I was asked by 2 young men for my id. Alright, here is my British columia drivers license .... Nope. Not good enough, they questioned me for a second piece of id!! After just getting off a plane I actually had my passport in my purse, which I then presented. Ok. So I take a deep breath, and feel somewhat violated, keep in mind, I'm 30 years old, I don't think for a second I would pass for an 18 year old who wouldn't be allowed in...... Ha!
Seats are soaked from everyones wet snowpants, food is crap . Service isnt fit.
The music is absolute garbage.
The only reason this place is in business is because of it's location , at the base of whistler mountain, so anyone who is hungry and thirsty after skiing gets caught up in this net or trap, I call longhorns .
Locals know this.
So if you are visiting, don't bother. -
Review from Tanya J.
I don't know what it is, but for simply being a pub - this place hits the mark during a day full of skiing.
We were very hungry for lunch during our time skiing and decided to hop on in for a quick lunch. That quick lunch turned into an indulgent affair having veggie burgers and fries and licking our fingers and plates clean.
We also enjoyed the DJ and music along with the vibrant crowd.
This place knows how to serve you hearty food and is the perfect place to refuel while on the slopes. What terrific burgers, you will not be disappointed. -
Review from Elisa H.
What a disappointment. After a long day on the slopes, I was looking forward to some good pub grub and a stiff drink. I got bland food and inconsistent drinks.
The very very expensive margaritas are only as good as the bartender on shift... one day, they were strong and delicious. The next, they were weak and waaay too sweet. Considering the price, they should always be fantastic.
Then the food - the greens salad, quesadilla, chicken Monterey club - very bland, veggies were limp and tasteless, the chicken was hard like wood.
We avoided this very central restaurant for the rest of our trip. -
Review from Calvin M.
Great place to hang out. The staff is really fun. It's a little expensive, but totally worth the fun. The food is standard bar food. Nothing special.
I'd come back and hang out again next time I'm at Whistler. -
Review from Matt B.
What a great location! Had lunch here today during our day on the slopes! Had a burger and buffalo chicken wrap. Both were great and the IPA and honey lager were awesome as well! Check this place out!

This is the place for you - if you prefer to keep the wool over your eyes.
An expansive patio lures you in for apres while cute australian girls roam around (uselessly) in mini skirts... then BAM! They hit you with a $28 pitcher of beer.
If you're willing to waddle even less than 100 yards further, you can get a pitcher for almost half that price.
You do the math.
ps. The food is pathetic, service even more so. -

This is one of the better Aussie-staffed, Whistler watering holes. It's located at the base of a ski run, and it's part of the village's apres ski culture.
We had drinks and poutine (which wasn't bad). I agree with Marty G. who called his visit an "all around a positive experience, but not mind blowing." -
Review from Alison N.
We loved this place! The food was awesome at a reasonable price the atmosphere is loud - there is always sport on the tv. It adds the the atmosphere of the place. I had the greatest magarita of my life here for $8.00. The Santa Fe chicken burger is the best!!! Its perfectly located at the base of the gondola great for when you come down for lunch off the mountain! Highly recommend this place!

I love the longhorn!!
PROS: This place is always down to have a good time. It is your pretty typical bar food and drink kind of place.
After a hard day on the slopes, there is nothing better than coming in for a good beer and some greasy food.
At night this place turns into a party spot. You got the dance floor on one end and pool tables on the other and the bar in the middle. Sounds like a recipe for a good time to me.
CONS: The bathroom is downstairs in the Carlton lodge which sucks. They also charge cover and on busy weekends they've been know to double the cost. I remember waiting in line for over an HOUR to get in with my friends and it wasn't an orderly think. We had to push and fight our way to get in. And once we did, it wasn't like it was packed with people ripping out from the seems.
All in all, my friends and I have a good time her. -
Review from Todd L.
Classic case of location, location, location. Great patio, decent mix of music, good TV viewing for sports, attractive and friendly staff, expensive and brutally bad food. It's fun if you set your expectations appropriately.

Review from Ed H.
I've eaten at tourist traps before, but this one takes the cake. I'm sure the only reason people eat here is location location location! In most cases, the food is at least edible if not bland and overcooked but here, it was either bland, too salty, or just way off in temperature.
First off, service was ok until after we placed our order. After we placed our order, our waitress only stopped by once after our entrees were served and didn't even stick around to really hear our feedback. We asked the waitress if we could substitute yam fries for regular fries despite not being an option. We figured maaaaaybe they might be able to do a quick switcharoo and offer the yam fries as a side (I mean, why not? It IS a side!) Our waitress said it wasn't an option and she couldn't accommodate and said it was the chef's decision. As she was saying this, the chef looking unkempt and like a chef who just didn't give a damn walked by which she followed with "And here's the chef." "They want to know if you can substitute the fries with yam fries", said the waitress. "What a great idea", said the chef as he walked by. And that was that.
Food was just terrible. Maybe it's what we ordered, but if your item is a special (pulled pork), it better be damn good!
Onto the food.
5 layer dip: 0/5. Didn't taste anything like any multi-layer dips I've had in the past. I'd rather go to the supermarket and buy one there for half the price. It was served too cold, and the main portion of the dip wasn't even layered..more like mixed. When we complained about the dip to the waitress, her response was that we just didn't know the taste. Ummm, you mean to tell me an Aussie knows better than Texans and Californians how a 5 layer dip should taste???
Pulled pork: 0/5
Fries: 0/5 Waaay too salty
Reuben sandwich: 0/5. it was like eating a salt lick. WAy too salty
The one good thing I can say about this place is that the water was rather refreshing.
Needless to say, service was sub-sub-subpar if that's possible, and feed was equally bad. -
Review from Dena P.
For a restaurant/bar to be right at the base of the mountain, you really can't complain! I was in Whistler for the busiest event of the year, Telus, and I thought the service was stellar and the food was pretty good. I mean, come on, it's bar food... what more can you expect? The nachos were delicious and fed myself and two of my girlfriends. The sun was shinning and it was a perfect view sitting outside watching people ski and snowboard down the mountain.
At night, the Longhorn transforms into a nightclub (which I had no idea). Coat check is mandatory, which really made my friends and me mad. In the states there is no mandatory coat check. I have to wonder if the mandatory coat check applies to the winter time as well or only spring/summer time?
I thought the prices were a little over the top, but again, it's all about location, and the Longhorn has it! I spent most of my time in Whistler at the Longhorn and so that is why I'm giving it four stars. It was close to our hotel, the wait staff was friendly, the service was quick, and the views were amazing!
I can't wait to go back someday! -

Arriving at Whistler with 10 mins to kill before the super cheap lift pass was usable I came here for coffee.
As soon as you arrive a man/gal greets you and offers you bottled beer chilled in ice (like that's necessary when it's -2C). The patio is teeming with apres skiers and inside is packed too. Prime location. So, if you want faster service head to the bar. I got my coffee and skipped the offer of a Baileys. It seems Longhorn Saloon is true to it's name. It's all about the booze. Got a seat outside and watched all the skiers & boarders returning to base camp.
I didn't get to eat here, and judging by the reviews it seems like I did the right thing. -

STOKED at the Longhorn. C'mon, where else in the world can you sit at the base of the gorgeous Olympic Whistler Blackcomb mountain like a total bum & order back-to-back pitchers of Kokanee?
After 5 straight hours of snowboarding- the Longhorn can win you over. Ya- anything will taste good at that point but ya gotta give Longhorn some respect.
It's a saloon. Not a fine dining experience with top chefs.
BTW- there is a "shot station" at the entrance to warm you up ASAP. Clever!
50% of the sitting room is outside. Yes, even in temperatures of 11 degrees or lower. Its about kickin' back with hat head and goggle face- eating greasy food in the snow.
You would be slightly nutty to order a salad or poutine here! And if the music is too loud for your enjoyment I'd suggest The Keg; comfortable, quiet, non-trendy, no views. But heh? The salad's are probably great.
Longhorn is about COLD beer, spiked HOT cocoa, and chillax ATMOSPHERE. -
Review from Paul R.
Came here for lunch and the food and service was lousy.
Not sure if it was the meals we ordered or not, but they were 0 for 3.
Pulled pork, 5 layered dip ( which I would think would be hard to screw up), and the Rueben were all really bad.
Go here at your own risk. -
Review from Nela D.
Food not so good. How can nachos be tasteless? Stick to a liquid diet here.

So they say that the three most important things are Location, Location, and Location! Then why is this place not better?
We fell into the age-old trap and settled for a nice view on the patio and hoped for good food. It was seat yourself anywhere and we did.
I ordered a beef burrito and it was oh very ordinary. I had that with the potato soup (bad choice).
The others ordered the spare ribs which practically inedible - lots of fat, small portion, and not very well cooked. They ordered a burger as well and that was passable.
The service was spotty as well, we were never offered refills and did not bother getting any.
Next time will go for an inferior view and hopefully better food and service. -
Review from J.M. G.
All around a positive experience, but not mind blowing. I'd put it more at 3.5 out of 5.
We went around lunch time and had to fight to find a table, although we were lucky and it didn't take too long.
The food came pretty fast despite the place being packed. The yam fries and poutine weren't bad, but we were also starving :-) The burgers were fine, but very well done. Supposedly in Canada they are required to cook burgers very thoroughly, so this might be out of their control.
Probably the best aspect is the location: about 50 ft from the bottom of the lift. You could do better, but you could do a lot worse too. -
Review from Kristen M.
Food is whatever. Until they give you a hamburger instead of a turkey burger, when you don't eat beef. Gross.
Service is whatever. Most nights they have a masseuse walking around working, which can be cool.
It's like a western style TGI Friday's. I'm sure the only reason it's popular is the location, and because most other mid -range restaurants in Whistler are also sub-par. Oh, and I'm positive that the snowboarding bros love this place for the waitresses.Listed in: Van-coooo-ver, EH?

Service here is very friendly and quick to take your order, but slow to bring it to you (some of it doesn't even come without a word), and it takes even longer to get the bill.
Food is pretty bad. I ordered a salad with gorgonzola, pear, toasted walnuts and strawberries with grainy mustard. Sounds delicious but it tasted disgusting! The walnuts tasted stale and not toasted at all, the gorgonzola was super cheap and tasteless, with an aftertaste of overly processed cheese. The dressing was ok but a tad tangy. Overall, the meal was pretty awful and I wouldn't recommend coming here for that salad. If you like pub food (at restaurant prices), alcohol and watching TV, though, it's not a bad choice. It's in a great location and it looks like the hostess sells you Corona at the door. Very touristy, though I'm sure there are better places to go.
The only reason I went here is because the group wanted to watch the Spain vs. Netherlands game. Lots of TV's, good sound system but if you didn't come here for what's on TV or music you might wanna skip out. -
Review from Brenda R.
We went here for a late lunch one day. We just came up to the hostess and she told us that we could seat anywhere we'd like and gave us a menu. We sat outside and enjoyed the view of Whistler and Blackcomb.
We ordered a Longhorn burger, which had mushrooms, bacon, and cheddar cheese, and a chicken strip wrap, which had 3 strips of chicken and caesar salad. I wanted to substitute the regular fries with the yam fries, which is not allowed. I was pretty bummed about that. The food was okay. I've had better and the service was slow. We got the bill and I wanted to give the money to our server, and our server did not even remember us. I was like, I'm not going back there but who knows, I might have a change of heart cause the view is really nice. -

Typical sports bar to lounge around after a long day of snow sports...PRIME PRIME LOCATION!!!!!!!!!!!
There are tonnes of TV's from every angle, and probably three things playing from the multiple screens. The tables are wooden and pretty rustic, like you're in a barn.. at least that is the feeling I got. There are pool tables as well so you have other things to do in the place.
Service was pretty good.. always making sure we wanted another "double".. I think within 2 hours, our server was changed 2 times.. not sure why.. shift change maybe. I heard the spiced rum is good... my caesars had just the right amount of kick in it... plus I got a nice piece of celery to go with it - bonus :) -
Review from Skylar L.
The ultimate Apres place, Longhorn can be quite fun after a long day of shredding the slopes. The patio is massive and has great views of the bottom of Whistler. Make sure to check out the drink special board as there is something good every night of the week.
Apres apres, on the other hand, leaves something to be desired. This is THE Sunday night bar, boasting up to three hour waits. When you get inside there is no room to move. The same people who come here on Sundays go to Bill's on Wednesday. If that's your scene, do it, otherwise, DON'T.
Stay clear on Aussie day. It's kind of fun for the fist couple of hours but after that it's just a bunch of Aussie's throwing up under the tables. Fun?Listed in: Whistler Eats, Heating Up Whistler

Review from Tristan S.
Based on my last visit, the only reason this place exists is because its owner could pay to plant it at the base of the greatest ski destination in the world.
I visited several years ago. Nachos were nothing to write home about and neither was the service - but hey, it's at the base of Whistler Mountain, perfect for apres-ski viewing and drinking. What more could you ask for?
How about SERVICE?!? My wife, dad, brother-in-law and I sat on their patio after our final long, tiring day of good skiing and were looking forward to some water and a simple pitcher of beer to share our good times over.
We sat for 5 minutes. The table next to us who came in after us was promptly served with drinks and had their food orders taken, even though they all looked underage.
My family & I sat for 10 more minutes and were totally ignored by 4 or 5 servers apparently hired for what passes as good looks (read: lack of clothing and lots of makeup) at Longhorn. We didn't receive so much as a glance, let alone a menu, so when a server walked by with a tray of beer, I (sarcastically, I admit) said "Is anyone serving out here?"
The girl said "I'm out here, and I'm serving." Perhaps I should give Longhorn an extra star for hiring someone who could hold a tray of beer and not drop it while communicating. Nah.
Needless to say (I hate that phrase but I just typed it so I'll leave it), I won't be back. The Garibaldi Lift Co. next store beckons. And it has a better view and servers who actually serve. And it let my family - including 2-year-old nephew, not with us in the visit described above - dine there. Longhorn wouldn't let us in.
(On a side note, the door guy was polite and seemed irritated at the staff when I told him we were leaving and had been ignored. So I WILL give an extra star because at least one person there cares about customer service. So now they get one star.) -

I'm giving this place two stars based on service. In particular, after waiting a long time to get in because of a competition happening that night, it took forever for our server to take our order and bring us drinks. Then it took even longer to get our food, and when we did, my friend's meal was completely wrong. So my friend had to wait another LONG period of time before finally getting the meal she ordered. Then two of us had to search the entire (very large) patio, AND the indoor pub, to find our server to request our bill. Then we had to search for her yet again to pay her after she dropped off the bill and once again disappeared. So we were not impressed. It was also cold, and the heat lamps were broken, so we had to search for blankets they had out on the patio ourselves. (Our server kept promising to see if she could fix the lamp and/or find us blankets, but was unable to do either.)
My food (the chicken enchillada) was actually decent and a HUGE portion, and I love the location right at the base of the mountain, but the lack of service definitely soured the experience. -
Review from Cameron B.
Did you know that Windows Vista's codename 'Longhorn' was named after this bar? Well maybe you didn't, but it's just one of many things that makes this bar the place to go when you're checking out the nightlife of Whistler.
After skiing all day on the mountain skip the hot tub and go here right off of the slopes for a pint.
Coming here late night is also fun, but depending on the weekend, it can get pretty crowded with the younger crowds. The best bet is to come here with your own crew an make your own party and have everyone watch in awe as you dance the night away at the Longhorn. -
Review from Ricky M.
Lots of up and down reviews for this place. I've always enjoyed myself here. Nothing like a $20 nacho after an $80 day of snowboarding right?
Typical pub food with a nice outdoor patio and eye candy waitresses. Plus there is always some action going on nearby. I think it's a great place to chill and let your legs catch up with you. -
Review from Wilafur L.
service is very friendly at longhorns but it all goes downhill from there.
first off, a third of the beer, cocktail and shot glasses were filthy. and by filthy i mean lip stick, bits of lime and other crap all over it. good thing liquor neutralizes germs eh?
beers are cold but the shots are tiny. you definitely do not get your money's worth here.
7 layer dip: craptastic. a small bowl of tasteless dip and a mound of chips. do not get this.
poutine: light brown gravy but less than fresh fries. weak.
come here for the beer after a run but i would definitely not come here for shots or to nosh.
dirty and overpriced. not a good combo. -
Review from Jacob V.
You can't beat the location of this place, right at the base of the best mountain I've ever boarded on... Its literally 10 yards away...
We went here a couple times for beers, a couple times for food, and once when they turn it into a dance club at night.
The food isn't amazing, but its bar food. The one exception to that was the Poutine. It was the best we had while in Whistler.
The beer was good, service was good, and the waitresses weren't half-bad looking either.
As far as the club, we went once and it was your normal loud music, dance floor vibe. We tried to go again, and the line didn't move for an hour. That's why its getting 3 stars and no more.
Next time I'm up here, I'll be sure to stop by again for the food and the bar during the day, but for the nightlife, not gonna happen. -
Review from Gary W.
If you're on skis and and can't walk and barely of legal age to drink, this is your place to hang out. I ordered an IPA expecting well an IPA and got a Bud-lite. Noticed a waitress trying to run off a patron to clear a table for more turnover. You couldn't hear yourself over Lady Gaga blasting over the speakers. I couldn't get out of there fast enough.

Review from Jay C.
Longhorn's has a great location for starters.... I came here during the Telus Festival, and it had a dead on view to the stage with live music. I could also watch the Big Air competition from where I was sitting.
The food, however, was just average North American fare. We had the mountain of nachos and the chicken fingers. Pretty serviceable bar fare.
I will say that the service we had today was excellent. The waitress came over to check on us very often -- pretty much hanging out with us -- dancing and joking around. We got all our food and drinks in record time. She was awesome! -
Review from Gina H.
Nothing amazing, but nice place to relax. The service is a little slow, but our waitress was super sweet. She refilled our water and coffee immediately and let us know our food was on the way. I think the burgers are a safer bet. My husband had the mushroom burger and I didn't want to give it back. I had the Ruben with a soup that was not very good.

Great place to take a break from skiing and have a beer. The wait staff was pleasant. The food was good and the atmosphere was great. I would highly recommend it to any heading to whistler.

So much fun après ski! Love sitting outside. Get a seat along the windows for the best heat. Nachos are great

Review from Mark H.
Although having one of they best locations in Whistler, I wasn't impressed by this place. Went for dinner and nearly got deaf from the volume of the (crappy) music. Big portions, but not much taste. Typical pubish food. Definitely not a place to go for dinner. Maybe drinks.

Review from Nathan B.
The Longhorn is a perfect apres location. Right at the base of the mountain with a huge outdoor patio for people watching. The music is loud with a decent mix of genres from rap to rock to country. From about 3:00 PM on, this place is a party! People are drinking and the waitresses are pushing shots (no thanks, Katie, but we'll take another jug!) The beer is a bit expensive, but you are sitting at the base area of the most recognized destination resort in the world, so what do you expect? Katie took awesome care of us and even made one person in our party fall in love (just kidding, but seriously....)

They charge for soda refills! The poutine wasn't all that (Zog's around the corner has better poutine), the food wasn't anything to get excited about, the service was unenthusiastic (although the servers were attractive young women, which certainly appeals to a significant demographic in Whistler) and THEY CHARGE FOR SODA REFILLS.

Review from Rebecka I.
This place really is THE place to go when you get off the slopes in Whistler. It's busy, it's buzzing and it is full of skiiers that are all as high on life and great skiing as you are!
Most of the staff is really friendly, although maybe not the greatest service providers in the world but hey, what can you expect from a bunch of ski bums in their twenties?
Good music, great food (for a saloon type of place) as everything is well prepared, nice and fresh and not "just fatty and huge" as most other Whistler village pubs and bars.
Highly recommended!
