An expansive stretch of sand on the west coast of Vancouver Island, between Tofino and Ucluelet. There are several beaches that make up Long beach (as far as I understand): Long Beach, Combers Beach, and Wickaninnish Beach. We walked Wickaninnish Beach - there are a bunch of tide pools at one end (excellent ones!), and an interpretive center above the beach. With restrooms.

If you drive up towards Long Beach end, there's Incinerator Rock (Beach... area), that has a popular spot for surfing. It's a fairly small parking lot that could be full, and if so just head south about 500ft to a much larger parking lot. (surfing there as well)  There are also a bunch of picnic tables that are shielded from the wind. This area has restrooms and showers as well.

All of the beaches are really wide, so there is tons of space -- I can't imagine it getting too crowded. The sand is soft, white, clean. We happened to be in the area when it wasn't windy and 80+ degrees, and this is extremely uncommon. On a typical day (in the summer) you probably need at least a sweater or a coat. In the winter you need something much much thicker and wind+waterproof :)

Long Beach in Tofino is a jawdropper. I came to this beach through a short hike in Pacific Rim National Park. The name is true to its meaning. It's really long, yet very different from other beaches that are long. It's very wide, very clean, and the sand is very firm. You'll see a lot of little cute shorebirds gathered on the sandy beach near the shoreline feeding.  It's a wonderful beach to have a jog without worry too much about sand in your shoes. The sounds from the ocean were music to my ears.
