We had the occasion to visit The Long Beach Lodge (TLBL) during a Valentine's Weekend visit to Tofino.  At the end of the trip, TLBL was the brightest part of our trip.

We actually stayed next door (at The Cox Bay Beach Resort) but were without a car and without hot food.  Plus it was Valentine's Day, so who wants to cook?!?

When faced with a 4 mile r/t walk to the nearest restaurant, instead we opted to wander  next door to TLBL and invited ourselves inside for a drink in their bar.  We got awesome seats right on the glass overlooking the incredible Cox Bay Beach right at suset.  There is hardly a better setting (okay, maybe Hawaii, only because it is 8° instead of 25°).

Our server (for 2 nights, actually) was just okay.  Actually, she was kind of a detriment to the whole thing, but we endured.  During our second visit, we had the same waitress...seriously...we had to "kill her" with kindness.  We were successful, well sort of.  She was still pretty cool to one of us (me!) but my partner felt slighted.  He just couldn't win her over.

But on the bright side, we showed up for breakfast...on Valentine's Day.  And the dining room was closed to "Registered Guests Only".  Totally understandable.  Staying at the TLBL includes free breakfast, they were pretty busy, so we understood.  But the hostess/waitress heard our pleas.  Oh, and we mentioned that we didn't have a car. And we were in.  She was awesome, kind, and our own angel that Valentine's Day morning.  The breakfast was very good, a short menu, but enough choice for us (our other choice was walking 2 miles down the road to a place that might or might not be open.

Okay, the bar food and drink...they were okay.  A bit pricey for what we got (nearly $20 crab cakeS included four shrimp and only 1 crab cake.  Taste on the shrimp was good but the crab cake was, unremarkable.

Drinks:  the Cox Bay Beach Breeze tasted like canned pineapple and canned maraschino cherry juice.

But it didn't really matter that much, the view and the surroundings were incomparable.  There is a reason this lodge is one of the top ranked hotels in Canada (and #1 in BC).  This place has the most amazing location and surroundings to take advantage of the location.

Seriously, it is a location I will dream about...until I return.  Which I will.  Our visit was in Winter.  Perhaps our next will be in Summer?  Hmmm....searching for a reservation online now...

WOW!  Double WOW!! I have to be honest and say the food was secondary; however,  it's only because of the awesome view.  We got lucky,  perfect seats right in front of a window over looking long beach!  The surf conditions we the best of year to date and everyone from beginners to advanced surfers were ripping it up out there.

I ordered the trio of sliders;  beef, chicken, and fried oyster with some really tasty fries.  All three sliders had flavor, good seasoning and a mix of condiments.  My only complaint is that I wish they would have used a different type of bun for each slider... Or a least for the fried oyster.  My thought is maybe a Hawaiian sweet roll or anything else that might compliment the oyster better.  But hey,  it was still good and the view got even better as the sun started to set.

The 1st time we came to this restaurant was through recommendation for stormwatching in winter season. It was nice and very comfy. We ordered the mussel and bison burger and it was great.
We came for the 2nd in June. The atmosphere of the restaurant was still nice and cozy. The staff are friendly and nice. We came for lunch and ordered the mussel...again and trio sliders (beef, halibut, and oysters), both dishes came with fries. The mussel used to be served with toasted bread but it came with fries this time. I prefer bread to fries with the mussel.

I highly recommend this restaurant whenever you are visiting Tofino and Ucluelet area. The food are great, friendly staff, and the price is just about right.

Hint: if you want to go the Long beach behind the hotel you can ask the staff for beach access. Just tell them you came from the restaurant and want to check the beach. They will let you go through and you can get free parking instead of paid parking at general area nearby ;)

We had lunch at the restaurant.  I loved the view more than the food, which was expensive.

My daughter had seafood chowder - she enjoyed it.  She had a turkey sandwich (turkey cooked inhouse - but a bit dry.)  It came with a mixed green salad including something that tasted faintly minty and 4 sprigs of parsley mixed in (never seen this before).    Very interesting-in a good way.

I had a watery ginger carrot soup - more of a broth than soup.  Followed up with fish and chips - the halibut was fresh.  I couldn't really taste the beer in the beer batter. The tartar sauce was tasty.

    Service was attentive.
