Review from Natalie D.
Richmond, BC
Going for tea at London Heritage Farm was lovely. This place is a real treasure.
THE AMBIENCE
The location itself, across from the Fraser River, is serene. I actually felt myself relaxing as I walked up the old gravel driveway. The historical house, with a gift shop area and tea room that seats around twenty, is interesting and quaint, and special.
It was typical West Coast casual dress for most of the guests, but a group of little girls wore fancy dresses and one family was a smidge more dressed up than most. It felt like you could make the experience as special as you wanted to, and nobody would mind. On the particular Saturday afternoon we were there, the room was full of chatter. What a great place to meet for a long overdue chat.
THE SERVICE
I was dumbfounded and impressed to realize there was only one staff doing everything: seating and serving guests, clearing the tables, answering the phone, ringing up gift shop purchases...for all I know, he may have even prepped the food! I wish I could have given him an even bigger tip, because he deserved it.
THE FOOD
Going in, I knew the cost was 50 to 70 percent cheaper than the other high tea experiences I've yelped about, so I wasn't planning to compare, and yet I enjoyed myself just as much! They only serve one flavour of tea, but it's delicious, and I even bought more to bring home. There's no triple-tier tray of goodies, just a warm scone with jam, and three other sweets per person, but it was just right.
